I just stopped by your factory. And I have nothing positive to say about my experience. There is no front desk or person to greet anyone. I was told by someone they don't do guest passes and it seemed very snooty, exclusive and to the point where frankly I would not recommend anyone to use this facility. She told me to go to another gym. In this day and age, to speak to someone who is looking to improve their health and has an injury, shame on you for treating a new potential client in such a way. Joined Teqneeq during Covid when other commercial gyms were closed. I have worked out in many facilities in the past and this is the cleanest and most well maintained gym that I have experienced. It has all the essential equipment and space for weight and functional training. The owner has consistently investing and upgrading the facility. The gym literally opens 24 hrs a day and 365 days a year. It never feels crowded even during peak hours. Majority of the members have the appropriate gym etiquette awareness which enhances the overall experience. For me, the cost is competitive with other privately owned gyms around this area. The additional cost comparing to commercial gyms which typically have large membership is worth every penny. read more

We have been coming to Teqneeq gym for about 6 months now. It is the most well kept spotlessly clean gym in all of San Diego. Teqneeq has the most modern state of the art equipment that is maintained to a standard of high excellence. There are numerous areas to work out and train. Recently Teqneeq instilled a separate "glutts" work out area in the upstairs that has ample glassed in workout area and is separated from the rest of the gym and has the latest state of the art equipment. There are multiple cleaning stations located throughout the facility. The parking is accessible and the security of the building is fantastic with code entry access. The changing area locker room is extremely clean and is very well maintained with very modern fixtures and amenities. The overall clientele and membership are very professional, considerate, and friendly. Teqneeq is a five star plus gym. read more

I went to the gym to sign up. I wanted something closer to my home. The door was locked and I realized it's a private gym. So I followed the instructions online to get a tour. They didn't respond for a while so I followed up again. Eventually they responded and I did the tour. I complemented the place for how clean it was. I did find their etiquette requirements posted around the place to be a bit over the top. What you wear, not allowed to be looking at your phone too much, etc. Didn't bother me much really. I was planning to sign up given the convenient location and clean gym. There was like no one there at 4:30 in the day, which I also found strange. As I was about to leave I took a 10 second video clip on my phone to show my 18-year old son who wanted to see and possibly sign up. They told me not to do that so I stopped. Again. A bit strange since it's on the website. I followed up in an email that I was ready to sign up. They responded, "From the notes we have on your tour, it seems as though our etiquette rules regarding content capture and member privacy might prove challenging in your case." The response seem harsh, so I replied with a little more detail of who I was and asked why they denied me (I figured they thought my character was questionable or something). They didn't respond so I sent an email threatening litigation just to get a response. I really wanted to understand why I was denied. Two ready and willing customers and denied for what...?I've never had an experience like this. They responded, ------- "Our club is private, and our screening and internal record regarding prospective and ongoing membership relations are exemplary. They would easily hold up in any legal proceeding, despite your misguided threats. Your emails consistently begin in a manner that is entitled, condescending, unprofessional, and degrading. You often assert that our process is the strangest you've ever encountered, boast about your greatness, and in this latest instance, you concluded with a threat of legal action if we do not comply with your demands. To address your accusation of discrimination, it would be based on what exactly, your height or appearance? the fact we don't cater to accountants? What exactly? that's a head scratcher. For the record, let us clarify that you were not selected due to your blatant disregard for our etiquette rules regarding content capture, designed to protect both member privacy and the company's intellectual property rights. Despite being informed of these rules during your initial tour, you chose to ignore them immediately and completely, displaying either extreme negligence or a sense of entitlement that rules do not apply to you. We are inclined to believe the latter based on your correspondence, but it might also be a combination of both. And my 10 second video merited that response? So here's the emails that were "consistently entitled, condescending, unprofessional, and degrading." Me to the owner in an email: "Hi. Can you explain further why I was denied? I live locally. Live a clean life. Earn plenty. Family man. Etc. This is perhaps the strangest customer experience I've ever had. I'm a ready, responsible customer. Explain again why you're rejecting me?" After no response for two months "I should let this go, but this is possibly the strangest experience I've ever had with a vendor. I'm a willing customer. Clean record. I work out hard at the gym. I live nearby. I have a strong credit score. I'd like to know why you're not letting me become a member. I'm getting a little glimpse into what racial discrimination was like 60 years ago. I know you're not racist, but the experience to me is the same; i.e. you have no valid reason to turn me away." I have a friend that was a former member that told me ahead of time the gym owner is crazy. Well, I'd have to agree. read more

To sum up this review in one sentence, I will echo another reviewer who said: this gym is only for those who want to actually work out. If you'd like more details, I invite you to read ahead. The monthly premiums are higher than most places, however I feel the old adage "you get what you pay for" does apply here. Also, as Teqneeq is only one facility, they have needed to up their membership prices to not only keep up with their competition but to pay their bills (San Diego is getting scarily expensive) There are zero crowds. Zero vanity. Zero "gym-timidation" (except that which you manufacture in your own mind....yes I am guilty of this). Authentic vibes only. Very friendly, down-to-earth members. Parking is super easy and FREE (I am biased because as a former Angelino, free parking felt like finding a diamond (or is it needle?) in a haystack). There is plenty of space in the gym, too. Huge indoor turf field. Plenty of variety of machines and training aids (weighted medicine balls, fitness balls, barbells, kettle bells, mats, dowels, monster truck tires, and those apparatuses that you can attach a chain to yourself and pull a heavy load across the turf). There are even duplicates of some weight machines which greatly decreases wait times to use them. The place is kept METICULOUSLY clean, thanks to the new custodian who makes my weekly house cleans seem lazy and lackluster. He is REALLY good. They even upgraded their cleaner solutions (for wiping down machines) to have essential oils in them (smells like a mix of eucalyptus and peppermint). For me it makes wiping down the machines feel more....invigorating! :) You must schedule a tour to join, however... zero pressure to sign up once you do take a tour. I signed up because I wanted to. I didn't feel like I was being treated like a statistic. One factor that goes into me joining a gym is how easy it is to cancel a membership. There was a time in my life where, for financial reasons, I had to cancel my membership, so I sent customer service an email and I was out ON THE SAME DAY. Zero questions asked. Felt like a breath of fresh air. A couple things I'd like to clear up based on my experience as a member for a year: 1.) It seems some people have been having issues with the owner, Dom. My experience with him has been great. I see him as an authentic, fair, down-to-earth human being. He is a "straight shooter" so to speak. Honest and direct, doesn't sugarcoat stuff or beat around the bush, and tells things like it is. I think that is what throws some people off, but I feel it is unreasonable to judge him as being unfair, mean, or crazy. We are all crazy in our own ways and many of us don't want to be seen that way or admit it. Sometimes we project our own anxieties and insecurities on others. I invite people to be more open-minded, not be so fast to lay down judgements, and follow that golden rule "treat others how you'd like to be treated." 2.) The 15 rules of etiquette: Please don't misinterpret these rules as a 100% prohibition of technology. Dare I say, in 2024, it is a good thing to have a gym owner who is aware of the dangers of excessive technology use. A big part of being a Teqneeq member is the mindfulness aspect and the strengthening of the mind-body connection. The limitations put on technology use at Teqneeq are NOT absolute, meaning, no one is going to kick you out the minute you take out your phone. There is no black and white. There is grey area, a matter of degree, just like in real life. I feel like the violations imposed on some members are cases where the rules were broken to such a significant degree so as to causes major disruptions in other members' experience. High frequency, long duration violations. In fact, most people here do use their phones. I use my phone. As most members here do to listen to music, look up training videos, and sometimes even take calls (politely and usually this is done out of the way of the other members). To come full circle from the beginning of this review, these etiquette rules seem to attract the people who make this place the lovely place that it is: the person who actually wants to work out. I invite you to consider taking a (free) tour and make a decision for yourself. The only way to know for sure if Teqneeq is right for you, is to get out of your head and experience it yourself. Rock climbing wall with self-balay, stretch rooms, and even a selection of monster truck tires with sledge hammers. If you want a trainer, bring your own. Been a member for over a year. I've been on and off with using it as I have access to a home gym but have been using Teqneeq's facility more often in the past two months. It's always clean, they have good gear, and plenty of space. I wish they had a second lying hamstring curl machine since there's a good chance someone might be on it but the Rogue Rhino machines makes up for it in spades. I was very eager to try this gym since several friends had done so already. Personally im a very busy and blessed person who had a hard time getting there within staff hours since i work from 7am- 8pm at times However DAWSON WAS SUPER HELPFUL with getting me a day pass , walk me through the gym, letting me know their prices and what could work best for me. Do not join!!! The owner is awful and completely unprofessional. Walks around the gym barefoot for one but more importantly sends rude obnoxious emails to all members. Recently sent out a rate increase (which is completely understandable) but I agreed to a year membership so I sent an email politely asking if my rate will be changing on Sept 1 as per the email or am I locked in till the end of my year contract . Here is his response "it means exactly what the email says it does.. When your contract expires, it's over, because it expired, like Milk.. From there, you will sign a new contract or not.. if you do, contracts have gone up in price.. fairly simple concept.. " The emails continued and he continued to get worse. Within all the years I've been going to the gym in different countries, Teqneeq is the best. Weights are always reracked. The fellow patrons are respectful to one another. No one here drops their weights or plays on their phones in the workout area. I never have to wait for a workout station unlike LA fitness. I am an avid lifter, been lifting for 15+ years, and have belonged to 9 different gyms. This gym is without question the best I have belonged to. They have truly perfected the way a gym should be operated. There are a few things that separate this gym from the rest. 1. They are open 24/7, 365. With my schedule I often have to workout at times most gyms are closed, they solve this problem. I have even worked out on Christmas morning too. 2. It is never crowded and I never have to wait for a bench or machine. They limit the amount of members to insure the place is never crowded. 3. They stay out of your business. If you are certified to personal train this gym provides you a place to work without taking an overhead. It's a great community of people, I have made numerous friends that I will have for a lifetime. Everyone here understands the gym and that it's a way of life, not a trend. Had initial issues with payment renewal that caused a bad experience to transpire over email but after talking to them over the phone they were far more receptive, professional, and kind. Their willingness to resolve my issues has affirmed my full trust in them. The facility itself has never had any issues. Its clean, well-maintained, has great new machines, and the people who go there respect the rules in-place and are kind, just like the staff. Perhaps the best place for anyone to start or maintain their workout in North County. Long: Initially gave a 2/5 review for payment & correspondence issues that I had over my membership renewal (nothing pertaining to the quality of the facility, in-person staff and community). After getting in contact with someone over the phone, they were far more kind, receptive and respectful towards the issues that occurred and offered me a resolution i'm more than grateful for. I cannot say enough good things about this place. After working out at a handful of commercial gyms through the years, Teqneeq is a refreshing contrast. The environment itself is impeccable. Great equipment selection/quality, no crowds, a logical floor plan with ample clearance, appropriate climate, fully stocked sanitation stations, and an RO drinking water system are some of the many luxuries. The general atmosphere of the place sets it apart from your typical gym. Another aspect I immensely respect is no attempt to upsell retail goods or personal training sessions to members. In addition, there are no misleading contracts to navigate upon signing up. While personal trainers do work with clients, they are not affiliated with the club itself, which seems like a favorable system for the trainer and client. Lastly, the people here are great. Currently in America, we are inundated with corporate gyms that possess little to no appealing characteristics. Each are carbon copies of one another (Golds, LA, Planet Fitness, EOS, etc) and treat their members solely as a statistic. Having the experience of working out in each of the aforementioned gyms for approximately 20 years, I can assure you that Teqneeq is the polar opposite of the "big box" gymnasiums, and a breath of fresh air. From the first day I walked into Teqneeq, I was greeted by the owner/operator. I was welcomed and treated like a human being and not another commissioned based sale. From my perspective, I could tell that he cared what my purpose was in seeking membership. He gave my wife and I a tour and explained to us the multitude of fitness opportunities and state of the art equipment the gym offered. The support staff is always friendly, knowledgeable, and aware of the logistics that sustain continual successful day to day operations. Another significant improvement in Teqneeq's operations versus other gyms is their commandments. These guidelines ensure safe practices for gym members and keep everyone accountable while working out in the facility. Fitness has always been a huge part of my life. When I was 14 my mom bought me a cement weight set from Sears and I locked myself in my room and lifted all summer, occasionally coming out for my Weider protein shakes. I've been hooked ever since; I don't think I've gone more than two weeks since then without some type of fitness involved in my life. Back in the day there was not much choice of gyms, my first gym was Jack LaLannes. Over the next 30 plus years I pretty much tried every type of fitness and Gym. I probably stuck with Crossfit and Muay Thai the longest although the last 5 years I have been doing mostly Gymnastics Strength Training. So, what has inclined me to write a review after all these years? Teqneeq has got me totally hyped. This is the best most well rounded gym I have ever been to. So many things to list as to why this gym rocks, so I will stick with the best of the best: Hours: For starters its open 24/7 personal key fob access. Working out at 0-dark-thirty is the best thing ever. Also, you don't have to rely on staff to open the Gym with your personal access. Wait time: I've never had to wait for a piece of equipment, I repeat I have never had to weight for a piece of equipment. The members: No BS, the people here are all cool and everyone's here for the same goal. Everyone's here to improve and reach their fitness goals. No matter what their discipline all are respected. Ownership: The owner is cool and is always looking on improving things and values his members feedback. Just when you think things could not get better a new piece of equipment comes in. With over 250 pieces of equipment laid out in the most functional way it feels like an adult playground. Just today some new bars and climbing ropes came in! Staff: They do have staffed hours and the Manager is very attentive to request. Cleanliness: The place is super clean. Variety: To me this is the best of all. You will typically find me on the bars and gymnastics still rings but I do take advantage of the whole facility. Sprints on the turf, stretch out on the stall bars or yoga room, weight lift, boxing, rock climb, assault bike, OLY, you name it. I was involved with Yelp when it was a small community but eating out so much was not conducive to my fitness lifestyle, so I stopped reviewing. As someone who was overweight, completely inactive, and wrote off going to a gym for several years due to the environment, I absolutely love Teqneeq. I spend several hours a day here because there's no where else I'd rather be. The staff AND members are incredibly helpful, welcoming, and friendly. I love the rules implemented because they were all issues I had with gyms in the past: everyone cleans their station after use, and everyone is incredibly respectful of the gym and of one another. People aside, the equipment are all top notch, clean, and there's never been issues with out-of-order stations. One of the more premier gyms that I have been to, especially in the area where your choices are either LA fitness or 24 hour fitness. You pay a premium for the membership but in my opinion its well worth it. The facility has all the equipment, for all your training needs. They take pride in the cleanliness of the gym, and the equipment is all almost brand new. The gym is also a 24 hours, which is a huge plus considering my schedule is all over the place. Wonderful gym to workout at from both the quality equipment and friendly members there. They have SEVEN barbell racks there, so no more waiting 30 minutes for a bench/squat to open up like at your standard commercial gym. They also have a wide range of machines, cardio equipment, a boxing room, and many other specialized training rooms, all while being 24 hours. The crowd is also minimal during all hours, so even after work the gym is reasonably empty. This is a private local gym, so if you are switching from a commercial gym be aware of significant differences. For one, most correspondence is with the owner who has been both helpful and cordial with me. He is friendly and works hard to maintain a healthy gym environment that is seldom seen at other gyms, even private. I am moving away for the time being and had to cancel my membership (an extremely easy process, unlike the nightmare at 24), and on my return to San Diego, I plan on reinstating my membership to Teqneeq. One of the nicest gyms in the area. They have 2 of everything which makes it nice to superset and never a need to wait for equipment. Heavy bags, to indoor and outdoor turf area, the gym is obsolete and always kept clean! The owner is really easy going and everyone there is always friendly. Would love more gyms like these in SD. read more
