I've been to Lisbon exactly once, for seven days... and I ate at Swayambhu House twice, AND I got takeout two more times. So yeah, you could say I liked it a little bit.
This was my first time eating, Napolis food, but I hope it won't be my last. And what an incredible first introduction to the cuisine! The vegetarian sadeko momo is easily one of the best dishes I've ever had -- perfectly spiced, rich in flavor, a little bit crunchy. We also loved the vegetarian biryani, palag paneer, and muttor paneer, with a side of garlic naan to sop it all up.
Don't forget to order Nepali tea, too, which is a piping hot cup of strong, slightly sweet chai. It tasted familiar, but different from the chai I have had at home. And importantly, it was caffeinated enough to help me overcome my jet lag and make it to karaoke with friends later that evening!
The staff here is so friendly and accommodating, checking in and refilling waters, and just generally making sure that everyone is happy. I hope to make it back to Lisbon someday, and when I do, Swayambhu House will be first on my list of restaurants to revisit. read more
