We ordered: - Fried Calamari - Fried Seafood Platter | Fried flounder, deviled crab, baby shrimp, fried oysters, jumbo shrimp The fried calamari was actually very good. The batter was light, crispy, and perfectly salted. The fried seafood platter was very lackluster. Unlike the calamari, the batter was soggy. The side of fries that came with it was soggy and flavorless as well.

"Flat" breading. - The cod was rubbery. I could not eat. Sent it back for fried catfish. Fishy. - -Tartar sauce is served in a plastic squeeze bottle and is runny. -Salad was just a very basic bowl of iceberg with three tiny slices of tomatoes and cucumber topped with mixed cheese. Dressing was like water and in a plastic squeeze bottle. - hushpuppies were the best thing, but not in the shape of a ball, but a small dog turd. - on the seafood platter, the best thing were the fried oysters. - baked potato was not even good. Served in foil and plain. You are given one plastic tube of sour cream and some margarine in those tiny cups (like at Wendy's or other fast food). No crackers on table. Before tip, $63. Very sad. They will be closed by October at this rate.

When you walk in, you find your own seating and place your order right from your seat. If you enjoy cold beers and micheladas, this is definitely the place to order them. The gumbo here deserves a special mention. It's not your typical Cajun gumbo. There is something different about it. It is incredibly delicious and absolutely a must-try. We also ordered the Texas Mini Plate, which came with two catfish fillets, three shrimps, and fries. The portions were great and the prices are very affordable! Overall, highly recommend this restaurant if you're looking for fried seafood at a great price!

Unfortunately, I noticed a big change this time around. The breading on both the fish and shrimp tasted different--much saltier and kind of overpowered the flavor. Not sure if the recipe has changed, but I personally prefer the original breading. That light, well-seasoned coating was part of what made me keep coming back over the years. Hoping this was just an off day or that the original recipe makes a comeback soon

Being originally from Mississippi, the "home" of catfish, this place has the best catfish I've had since I've been in Houston. It has a clean flavor which is hard to find and it's fried to perfection. There isn't the leftover, lingering oil or grease. The fries are *chef's kiss* Collectively my family and I had edamame, fries, fried shrimp, fried catfish, oyster poboy, bang bang shrimp, hushpuppies, sushi and coleslaw. There was not one thing we ordered that I would not order again. The amount of food you get for the cost is economical. For all of that food plus three sodas and a beer, our bill was right at $120. Not only is the food great but the service is just as great. It is not heavily staffed but you never feel like you're rushed or overlooked. The food is cooked to order so be prepared to wait for fresh food. Even with little staff and cook to order food, the wait isn't long at all. You can't go wrong with them! 10 out of 10

You could tell they soaked them pretty well, they were extremely juicy. We also ordered the fried pickle chips and they were bomb -- crispy, flavorful, and not too greasy. A great start to the meal. The oysters were another highlight. Good size, super fresh, and had that clean, briny snap that oyster fans will appreciate. Everything tasted like it came straight from the Gulf (in the best way). Service was spot on -- super attentive without hovering, and everyone was friendly and helpful. My husband ordered a fried platter. While he just thought it was ok, the seafood was fried perfectly. I personally liked his meal. Only downside? Seating was a bit limited, especially if you come during peak hours. All in all, good experience. Great food.

That said, the service was pretty cool and fast. I sat at the bar and was taken care of right away. I ended up ordering the Alex Botana which is boiled shrimp in a red sauce with lime juice and potatoes... not a fan and the shrimp was not clean. The restaurant itself is vibrant and full of color, with plenty of room and multiple TVs--great for watching sports and just chilling. Overall, solid vibe and service, but missing grilled oysters was a letdown for me.

I do remember the margaritas being extremely lacking in flavor/strength when I visited. It was to the point where we had to order an extra shot to even taste alcohol because all we tasted was sour mix. I didn't expect anything super strong or fancy considering it was happy hour and an extremely casual restaurant, but I would expect to taste a hint of liquor in a large margarita. Service was good though and this place seemed like they have a lot of local regulars.
