This was actually my first time trying Swaddee and I left regretting having not tried it long ago. The service was great in that multiple servers were very attentive and more than happy to serve our needs throughout the dining experience. The ambiance was comfortable and fairly intimate even though we sat next to the counter which was incredibly busy with people picking up orders to go. The restroom was clean and had hot water for handwashing. The food was great: We ordered the gyoza as an appetizer. My wife ordered the Pad Thai and immediately commented on how much better it was compared to a competitor's that we frequent. I had the Seafood Ginger and found the fish and scallops to be larger portions than what I was use to at the competitor's. We both like Thai food and it's a go to when traveling so here we are tonight. There were several other options for Thai food, but we decided this would be the best based on review pictures showing its relaxed decor. We weren't disappointed and really enjoyed our time spent hanging out in the dining room. My mom sure loved her coconut soup, creamy and delicious and my chicken Pad Thai was very nice in all respects except one, could've used a bit more fish sauce... but that might be just me. How does Flagstaff have such amazing Thai food?! This restaurant has very cute decorations like colorful hanging umbrellas, portraits of glowing temples, and a statue. It reminded me of my time in Thailand! We got the vegetable egg rolls to share for the table, which were so yummy! They were hot and fresh. The sauce served with these were also sublime. I ordered the chicken pad Thai (I know, BASIC) but it was very delicious and the perfect classic for me. It was a decent portion for me and for the price (~$18). My first time in Flagstaff for a staycatuon was great. Ending the night with takeout from here was a good decision. I checked out the reviews and pictures then placed my order from their website. My food was expected to be ready in 20 minutes, but when I arrived in 15 minutes it was ready. I was greeted when I walked in the restaurant and taken care of right away. When I got back to the hotel room I tried the chicken satay which was tastey. Then I went in for the spicy catfish with jasmine rice. OMG this was so amazing. The flavors were bursting in my mouth with every bite. The catfish was seasoned perfectly and the peppers cooked just right. I selected spice 1 which had just the right amount of heat for me. I let my sister taste this since she didn't order anything and afterwards she went on their website to see what she could order for the next day. It's been said that we eat with our eyes first, and the attention to detail by the kitchen proved it. The combination appetizer was enjoyable to behold, but the fried wontons were so out of their league here, as far as taste is concerned. I've been coming to Swaddee for years. The restaurant really has a beautiful interior, which makes it feel inviting. If you get a seat by the windows, you can see out toward downtown, which is very pleasant right now due to the holiday lights. Unfortunately, the overall experience tends to be inconsistent. On some visits, the food is flavorful and satisfying, while on others it misses the mark...by a lot. It makes it really hard to know what to expect. Note that sometimes a 2-3 spice can taste like absolutely nothing and a 0, other times it'll be super spicy. This is toward overall flavor too. The seafood dishes can be soo delicious, but you can tell the quality of the ingredients is lacking sometimes by a fishy and bland flavor. The service also varies quite a bit. Sometimes they're attentive and friendly, other times I can't get a waiter to come by. I've had to ask a different server for my check sometimes, which feels annoying. This can happen even on slower nights, so I'm unsure what's going on. While there's clear potential here, the lack of consistency in both food and service makes the experience feel hit-or-miss. Especially with the prices, I tend to have to weight out if it's worth it to be unsatisfied with an almost 20$ dish. read more

I've written a previous 5-star review for Swaddee Thai which still holds true with regard to food quality/taste. This review is about the fact that they changed their take-out containers (I always get take out) from biodegradable paper to hard plastic containers which are not recyclable. Yes, they can be kept & reused at home, but I don't need 10 plastic containers. As Thai food goes, this place is a solid "OK". Thai is probably my top cuisine choice, so I'm also well versed in the flavors and quality. Salad rolls were among the weakest I've ever tasted, missing vibrant fresh herbs and ZERO protein choice (no tofu, no shrimp, nothing). Papaya salad was acceptable, fresh and correctly spiced. Pad See Ew, also very average using dried semi-wide noodles, lacking egg as far as I could tell and zero noodle char. Had also requested extra broccoli for the dish, I might have had 8 pieces total in the dish. Normal spice option is fresh thai chilis in fish sauce, asked for that and there were some sort of older, possibly previously dried, chilis in the fish sauce. All in all, nothing special here. We were traveling through town, and it was so good that the next night I called to place an order for pickup, but no one answered the phone, and an alternate restaurant got the sale. Answer your phone! The dinner I had the second night elsewhere wasn't as good as the yellow curry you sell, but they answered the phone and got the order. I tried several times over a 15-minute period. It wasn't busy, but it rang until your answering machine asked for the remote code... First time here and it was amazing. Located in downtown area but there is a close parking garage. Very busy when we arrived 7ish but staff on top of things. We tried the veggie rolls, wontons, and vegetable rolls for apps. All excellent. We then had tom kah soup, thai fried rice, pad thai, and massaman curry. Everything was great. I usually enjoy getting Thai food from here but last night I ordered the Pad Thai to-go and it was missing nearly everything it was supposed to come with, had no sprouts and no peanuts. There were also only like 5 little pieces of chicken and the rest was just noodles. Pretty disappointing. The staff was also dismissive which I would understand if it was busy but it was not at that time. I payed cash and there was a sign saying 10% off for cash orders but my total stayed the same regardless so not sure if they forgot or just didn't care. If you're looking for delicious Thai Food in Flagstaff, this ain't it. After seeing a lot of positive reviews I had hoped this would hit the spot but was sorely disappointed. Had a party of 6 and everyone at the table wasn't really impressed or blown away by any of the dishes ordered. Got the large Tom Ka soup. The serving ladle didn't even fit in the serving dish properly because it was too large so it was difficult to even get the soup from the main serving dish into the smaller bowls. We all ended up using our soup spoons to get the soup to our bowls. Everyone also complained about some really hard bony pieces that were in the soup that we could break our teeth on, so that was fun. It would have been okay if the soup was delicious which it wasn't. It was just okay. Tom Ka should be hot and sour and creamy but it was pretty salty. Have had better for sure. Next were the gyoza (potstickers). My kids typically love gyoza. All 3 of them complained about the lack of flavor. They tasted very plain and the sauce that was served wasn't your typical gyoza sauce. It was straight up soy sauce which is extremely overpowering for gyoza. Maybe they serve it that way to make up for the bland taste of the filling? Main dishes we got Pad Woon Sen. Cashew Beef , Pad See Eew. The pad See Eew was the best dish. Not the best I've had but it tasted how it should taste and the beef was okay. The Cashew with beef was just okay. Nothing amazing. The pad woon sen wasn't very good at all. Something was off with the texture and flavor. A couple people at our table ordered Coconut ice cream and they said it was really good. Lastly the pineapple fried rice wasn't great. The rice was very pasty and clumpy. They also put yellow curry powder which isn't like any pineapple fried rice I've ever had. And again one bite I took nearly broke my back molars. Something really hard and grainy like a rock or sand was in one of the bites. Very unpleasant. The servers were nice. Restaurant looks cozy and inviting inside with Thai decor so that was alright. It's too bad the food wasn't better. I'm not a food snob in any way and not super picky so it takes a lot for me to be disappointed in something like this. I've had some pretty good Thai food from so many other places. This is among the more disappointing Thai food experiences I've had. Favorite Thai restaurant in AZ! Best gyoza I've ever had. We ordered mild for everything to accommodate the groups taste. So some things were a little more bland than usual for Thai food - especially the papaya salad. But they were kind enough to bring a tray of different spice additives like Thai pepper flakes and chili oil. Would like to order medium or spicier next time. The value was great, we were able to sample many dishes. Also there was a wine and beer selection. The gyoza was the best I've ever had, highly recommend ordering. My friend and I ordered takeout from here. Unfortunately we were let down. We ordered the pad thai, their version of pad kee mao, and pad see ew. They all lacked flavor and were interestingly also needing salt. That's a sign of being under sauced. Both the pad thai and pad see ew did have the usual nutty, sweet taste. The pad kee mao was mostly noodles and could have had more meat and vegetables. They used regular broccoli in the pad see ew and not Chinese broccoli. I will give them a pass for that as it can be challenging to get authentic Chinese broccoli in a small rural town. The pickup service was fine but we won't be back. This restaurant also suffers from ratings inflation. People in this town haven't experienced real good Thai food and think because there is a unique restaurant it must therefore be excellent. read more

Wonderful Thai dinner at a table for two along the window. Yellow Chicken Curry was spectacular and just the way we ordered it - Hot, but not Thai hot! If you know what that means, you know! Spicy beef basil was also exceptional and the reasonably priced / decent quality saki was a great counter to a crisp outdoor evening. The dining room is cozy, so would certainly like to dine-in next time around. I went with a popular pad Thai with chicken, which doesn't look fancy or anything, but was highly enjoyable, with good quality ingredients and a classic flavor. The portion is solid as well, and depending on how big your stomach is, you can probably stretch it into 2-2.5 meals like I did. It wound up being a little more expensive than I was expecting (I think I looked at an old menu photo), but for a tasty dish that I can have for dinner and lunch, it's easily forgiven. I'm sorry that I have to give 1 star because the food was bad. I ordered egg fried rice it wasn't good and the rice was uncooked. I asked the waitress to reheat few minutes in the microwave and came back still the same. I was a bit frustrated because I grew up eating rice and I know very well how to cook rice, but when your rice wasn't properly cooked, it's upsetting. I ended up boxing it to go and reheated for dinner in my hotel room and the flavor just wasn't there. So I ended up throw it in the garbage. I hate to waste food, but it wasn't edible. Really disappointed with this place. Portions were super small, half of the menu wasn't available and it was pricey. No kid menu either.

Food was excellent and authentic. I ordered eggplant with tofu stir fry was super yummy especially the sauce was so tasty. My husband ordered pad Thai with pork and he said it was the best pad Thai he ever tasted. Service was really good and fast. The young server Just was really friendly and nice.
