Oh Suzy! Why are you so tasty?! What I appreciate about these doughnuts is that they taste light and are very delicious. I have had 3 today... who is counting calories? Not me! Made a stop here because of our friend's recommendation! I love a good doughnut so I was contemplating getting two. I still have regrets on not buying two so maybe take my experience as a warning and buy more than one if you're on the fence about buying one or two haha My friend said that the one she ordered most from here is the -[RASPBERRY CASSIS DOUGHNUT] $5 I was concerned it would be too sour but the level of sour and sweet actually balanced each other out SO well. In addition to that, the doughnut itself was not too dense so I felt like I could have easily devoured two. Unfortunately, I only ended up buying one but there is always next time. Suzy Q only does take out since the pandemic. Eating or sitting at the restaurant is not an option. The store make fresh batch of donuts daily and those are the only type you can order, unless you call in advance and request another type. The donut is cake like. The price might look steep for a donut but it's more like donut cake. Normally we split each donut I'm halves or quarters so we have room to try different flavors. The indegridents they use is premium and you can taste that. It has always been super fresh everytime I buy from them. There is usually a lineup but it's worth the wait. Also cute shops around to walk around. Street parking only (but it's free and it's 90 min long). read more

Whenever I go to Ottawa, this is a must stop for me. The donuts are always coming out fresh (probably because there's always a line of people to get some!) and they have unique flavour combinations. My favourites include cookies and cream cheese and the cinnamon toast crunch! While there is often a line, turnaround is very quick because people know what they want (conveniently they have everything on display at the window before you order!). There is nowhere to sit so it's a take and go home situation. read more

I'm a Suzy OG from the shack of doughy dreams in Hintonburg. They're probably still the best donuts on Ottawa but after many years of denial and trying each location, I need to admit, it's simply not as good as it used to be. The dough doesn't melt in your mouth like it used it. They've over-complicated classics like their cookies & cream with cream cheese and the biggest disappointment is the icing: it's not silky smooth anymore, it's granular and crumbles off most donuts. On a different note, the business seems perpetually stuck in March 2020.... This doesn't factor into my review though because this is the C19-Fear Epicentre of North America. So, although it's hilarious and sad, driving by their west end location and seeing people trying to order in the freezing weather and rain, it's expected. read more

Omg! These donuts are delicious! My brother and sister-in-law brought a dozen SuzyQ donuts to my house for Easter and they were a big hit with the whole family. I had a sixth of every flavour (except for Sugar Munkii because it was finished before I had a chance to sample it, lol), and while I liked some more than others, they were all fantastic. My favourite were the London Fog and Spicy Pineapple. The London Fog had a nice tea flavour and tasted just like the drink. The Spicy Pineapple was part tart and part spicy and all delicious. The Boston Cream had the richest and fluffiest cream and a thick layer of chocolate. The Yuzu Twist looked really plain, but had a potent citrus punch. The Bumbleberry and Raspberry Cassis had strong berry flavours, and the Mocha Truffle had a good coffee flavour to it. The Maple Bacon was sweet, salty and smokey. There was one donut that I couldn't quite make out the flavour, and I'm not sure what it was called. It had a lemony cream and some crunchy bits (?) My least favourite were the Bloop which tasted like Fruit Loops and was too sweet, and the Toasted Coconut, which was too "coconutty" for me, lol. Overall though, these donuts live up to the hype. So fluffy and soft. I believe that all SuzyQ donuts are yeast donuts (they don't have cake donuts). They have some vegan varieties. Donuts are $12 for 4, $15 for 6, or $28 for 12. The store is where The West End Well Co-op was for a short period of time. There is only street parking, which can be tricky to find depending on the time of day, day of week, season, and weather. read more

LOVE THIS PLACE. This was definitely an amazing find and it's a neighbourhood gem!! Gourmet donuts in a variety of flavours, and each one that I've tried - wow I don't think I can say anything negative about them! We went on Family Day and luckily it was open, and there was a bit of a line - took about 30 mins - but their donuts you can tell they are freshly baked every day. Beautiful presentation and I love that they have both classic and unique flavours! Their donuts are also not extremely sweet - which sometimes I worry when I'm eating such decadent sounding donuts lol. I tried the raspberry cassis, dirty chocolate, rocky road, london fog, maple bacon and cookies and cream. My favourites were the raspberry cassis and the london fog - amazing flavours!! My hubby loved the maple bacon and dirty chocolate. But generally you honestly can't go wrong with any of their flavours - all of them overall were fabulous! I also love how they painted the front of the shop in a bright yellow - definitely can't miss the building! $3 for a donut or $12 for a 1/2 dozen. With all the flavours you want to try, why would you get just one anyway ;) I brought mine all the way back to Toronto after leaving Ottawa with these babies and they were still good after we ate them in Toronto! The quantity of tables and seats is an optical illusion though, like Luke Skywalker's last stand against Kylo Ren, when a couple of families and a group of friends come in, it's already a full house! Unlike Tim Horton's or Dunkin' Donuts, they only have donuts here. Look at the uploaded photos and you can't help but know that these donuts are a bazillion times more delicious. There's an assortment of cold drinks, including Artisan Sodas and a variety of kombuchas. But the main highlight is the hand crafted hot beverages, the flat white and lattés pair very well with the gourmet donuts. It's like upgrading from 1080p to 4K HD.... I've been a fan of SuzyQ for years! I don't have it very often (it's way too easy to get addicted and scarf them all down), but I try not to the same flavour twice unless I have a craving because I always want to try something new and eventually make my way through their menu. I haven't been to this location since the pandemic, but I've ordered a 6-pack through Burrow Shop's online grocery market, which is only a 4-minute drive away and I assume this is the location they get it from. Through Burrow Shop, they offer a regular and vegan packs of classic favourites. The selection changes weekly, but when I ordered it during the holidays, the regular pack came with Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Sugar Munkki, Peppermint Snowdrift, London Fog, Carrot Cake, and the Simpson-inspired D'OH!nut. They were all so good that it was hard to choose a favourite, but from the ones that came in the pack, I think the Carrot Cake and London Fog were the ones I liked best, which is funny, because I don't actually drink London Fog tea. I didn't find the London Fog as sweet as some of the others and definitely not as sweet as I thought it would be. Regardless, I think we finished them all in a day or two, which is why we haven't had them since! I will say, though, that I really want to try the Apple Empanada flavour they have right now, and if/when their savoury Everything Fillie doughnut (they use this spelling instead of "donut") makes an appearance again, I HAVE TO go back! I don't have much of a sweet tooth, so the Everything Fillie is my all-time favourite by far - a brioche doughnut stuffed with chive cream cheese with herbs and topped with house-made "everything bagel" sprinkles. They also just recently opened up a location on Robertson Road in Bells Corners earlier this year that has parking, unlike this location. All three, however, are currently still doing the takeaway window only, with no indoor access, and masks and distancing of 2 meters are still required in line. read more

Top is the carrot cake donuts. Then the maple bacon with was so yummy the salt and sweet mmm. Then the cassis. The bottom left is tasty and refreshing Pina colada and last but Not least they filled jam with peanut butter topping and peanuts on top. My absolute favorite. These donuts are wild! Found on Wellington street West, you'll notice this yellow shop from the get-go. There can be a bit of a line up depending on when you go, but the people who work there are very efficient. They're also tremendously helpful when I asked them about dietary restrictions. While waiting, you can peruse their fridge (which doesn't have donuts) containing ice cream, ice cream sandwiches, and drinks. The donuts themselves are quite beautiful. At $2 a pop, they're not the cheapest and can quickly add up. However, the novelty of them is there. I've never seen donuts cracked out at this level with flavours this extreme - quite potent, too! The raspberry tasted like raspberry. While the others were a little foreign (what does spicy pineapple taste like?), they were still delicious and exciting to try. Would I come by every weekend for a half-dozen ritual? Probably not. My waist wouldn't allow it. However, I wouldn't mind walking in when I'm in the area and grabbing a donut to eat right then and there, especially when they come out warm and freshly glazed. But during my visits to Ottawa, I've been buy these guys a few times and this past weekend, I told my friend to stop denying me and we finally went to get a donut. HO-LEE bejeezus. These magically pastries are out of this world and I thoroughly enjoyed them. So when we got back home and found that her hubby had also been and bought a box of 6. well, I was in heaven. My favourite was the raspberry coulis, hands down. I also tried a bite of the blueberry-basil and enjoyed that - you can really smell the basil too! There's been a lot of hype about this place and I remember enjoying some crazy donuts when I'm on the US West Coast. This place has taken over the old Hintonburger space so it is still part of the car lot there. The place is still the same, totally awesome slanted floors and the door that is difficult to close! I love it so much. I dropped by Friday night and had a maple bacon doughnut because...well because it has bacon and everyone knows I love bacon. The doughnut is pretty solid but I did not like the toppings. I felt the bacon had absolutely no flavour. It tasted like it was soaked in water overnight and then fried or it was some of the cheapest bacon possible. Either way it tasted like a slightly maple flavoured donut. The glaze was ok. The donut itself was solid. Not as light as a Krispy Kreme but way lighter than what they have at most franchise coffee shops. I was in the neighbourhood again yesterday and dropped in with a friend of mine. He ended up getting 6 donuts and I got the salted caramel that my friends recommended. Unfortunately I did not like the salted caramel. The donut was fine but the salted caramel tasted like a donut covered in table salt with no caramel. It was hard to eat and I didn't finish it because of how salty it was with no other flavour. My friend confirmed my thoughts about the maple bacon and told me his salted caramel only tasted like caramel and no salt. Ottawa is my home town, and I have been meaning to try SuzyQ since I saw them featured in the New York Times. The atmosphere and service at SuzyQ were very warm and welcoming, and the wide assortment of doughnut flavours was very impressive! I didn't want anything too crazy, so I opted for a cinnamon crumb doughnut. I'm not usually a raised doughnut fan, but this dough made a convert! I do wish that the flavor were stronger, though... The best donut's I have ever had. Period. We'd gotten them at the Sunday market several times - but had the opportunity to go to the store front (trailer front maybe?) recently. Somehow, something that was awesome was even 'awesomer' right out of the fry vat. Our donuts were still warm! I can't even describe how delicious they were. 3.5 Good donuts. Not worth going through the process of getting them. They're soft, sweet, and super fresh. They are actually not like Krispy Kreme, however. KKs will literally melt in your mouth when fresh, these ones are less soft and not melty. Granted, we ate four donuts in one sitting between the two of us. Getting the flavours, however, was a terrible experience. I was here on a mission for maple bacon. It may be because I was there on a long weekend, but there were literally only five flavours up at a time. A mix of decent flavours and stuff I would never get. They wouldn't allow us to purchase the box and get certain flavours as they were coming up. By the time the maple bacon was ready, the interesting favours like bumbleberry and London fog were all gone and I was left to choose from chocolate or sugar coated. Meh. It wasn't worth this kind of wait, but I was already there. While I was waiting, another customer had left empty handed. It's definitely not worth coming back if I don't get what I want. I love donuts so I had to visit Suzy Q while in Ottawa. The storefront is cute; its bright yellow so you definitely cannot miss it. There's a lot of street parking so you can easily access this place by car. The interior decor is very no-frills; there's a large chalkboard that lists all the donuts available for the day and a couple of large tables to sit. We did take-out so I didn't sit inside, but there were a number of people at the tables. There's a donut scene in Toronto as well so I appreciate the price point here.
