This was my first time trying lokmas in general and I really enjoyed them! I got the box of 12 for $6.99 and got to choose two flavours. I chose Nutella and Biscoff, and Belgian white chocolate. Both were delicious! I took them home and thought maybe they would be a bit soggy, but that wasn't the case at all. They were so crispy outside, and I really enjoyed the chewy inside as well. They are a bit greasy, so probably can't have too many, but I did really enjoy it. Service was a bit slow, but at least they were fried fresh!

    Mixed 50 lokma!

Nice concept.. this lokma is a traditional dessert back home so love the way they westernized it with Nutella , and different toppings.. we went there after skating at the Landsdowne rink and got too greedy and ordered a box of 50 we are a family of 5 not sure what hubby was thinking! So it was definitely an overload for us and we all wanted to eat it in the car (with the lockdown) it got messy lol I liked it though but u can't have too many because they are deep fried and some are crunch some were really oily! It's a nice dessert but be easy on the order lol

    Yum

They are no Mr .Puffs for sure. Slow service. Flavour was good, but the aftertaste of old oil stays in your mouth. Very friendly staff.

An underrated gem in the Ottawa area for ice cream!…read more Whether it is the summer or cold winter, Haven's Creamery has taken pride to make delicious handcrafted ice cream! Whether it's soft serve, hand churned ice cream, or the smell of fresh waffle cones , there is a flavour for everyone at this spot along Bank Street! The Cereal Milk flavour is one of my favourite options to enjoy as it feels like breakfast with the balance of the vanilla milk base pairing well with the simple corn flakes for added texture. I cannot wait to go back in my next visit to Ottawa!

I had been meaning to try them since they opened but I wasn't quite feeling for ice cream in the Fall or Winter and then when Spring and Summer came along the lines were out the door, and you know me, I hate lines and crowds, lol. So finally on a warm but gloomy and overcast Sunday in June, I found myself in The Glebe walking by Haven's Creamery and lo and behold it was empty! So my husband and I went in for a couple of scoops of their ice cream. I was deciding between their London Fog, Passion Fruit Cheesecake and Strawberry flavours. I was offered samples of all three and I decided on the Passion Fruit Cheesecake (the London Fog flavour was too subtle for me, I was hoping for more potency. And the Strawberry while tasty was too ordinary for me, haha). My husband was much more decisive and didn't even sample anything. He got the Mint Chocolate Chip. We got our scoops in a bowl and they were $5.25 each. The Passion Fruit Cheesecake had a nice passion fruit flavour to it. Not as potent as I would have liked, but it was pronounced enough. It had pieces of cheesecake in it along with graham cracker crumb crust. It wasn't too sweet, which I appreciated. It was good. I had a taste of my husband's Mint Chocolate Chip and I really appreciated that it didn't have any artificial green colour. The mint was subtle and the chocolate chips were too large and too hard for my liking. However, he enjoyed it. Overall, I'm glad I finally got to try Haven's Creamery. I like that they have more creative flavours. The portion size was rather small, so it was a bit spendy for my wallet, so I won't be a regular, but definitely happy to have more ice cream options in town. Service was pleasant. There are 2 tables for 2 with chairs at the front of the store and a couple of high tables with no chairs. They sell ice cream by the pint as well. Street parking only.

I walked in not really knowing what to order or what to expect, but luckily I was the only customer at the time, so I had the chance to take it all in. * Service: The staff were friendly and helpful, which made the experience easy and welcoming. * Portion size: The cakes are huge! Honestly, I think a smaller size option would be great, but if you're hungry or sharing, the big portion works. * Texture & taste: Don't expect it to be like a BeaverTail--it's closer to the texture of a freshly cooled scone. The mix of crunchy outside, soft inside, and the added nuts made it really enjoyable. Overall, I'd definitely recommend trying it out if you're curious about chimney cakes. It's a fun treat, different from the usual Ottawa sweets, and worth experiencing at least once!

The Long Version: I had chimney cakes for the first time in 2015 at the short-lived Chimney Cake Bake 'N' Roll store in Bayshore Mall. It was thick and fluffy and tasty. The one I recently had at Chimnies was a bit thinner and less fluffy, but still enjoyable. Chimnies recently opened up on Bank St. I went in November 2024 and the man working there told me they've been open for 2 months. I'm thrilled to have a chimney cake store in Ottawa again, as we had none after Chimney Cake Bake 'N' Roll closed down. Chimnies was having a BOGO (buy one get one free) deal in UberEats: $8.50 for a Biscoff Chimney Cake. I ordered this for pickup. My husband and I usually like to share our food, but thanks to this deal, we each had our own. He finished his, but I found a whole one a bit too much for me in one sitting, so I saved about a third of it for later. The Biscoff Chimney Cake had Biscoff cookie crumbs on the outside (Biscoff butter cookies with a hint of caramel) and a Biscoff spread on the inside. The man working there was courteous. It's takeout only. There is no seating inside. Street parking only. (204)

This time, I ordered the bear claw and the caramel coconut crunch, which didn't disappoint. The taste and unique flavors are off the charts here. The price is on point, very fair for the size they give. The single was two scoops for $5.75, and they even sell chocolate goods and waffle cones. For me to come back so soon and want more speaks for itself! The only reason I don't give 5 stars is because seating is very limited. There are a few chairs in the front, and most people are eating and chatting near their cars or in the lot. I touched grass and watched the sunset--perfecto!

There's also a small public square with some benches outside that will absolutely be useful for busy summer nights. Prices are a bit high, but Moo Shu sources local ingredients (with the names of local farms on the flavour signs!), and pays employees a livable wage. I showed up around 9:00 on a random Tuesday and the place was impressively packed. The line was snaking out the door but it moved quickly. I've always been a huge fan of French Onion Soup, so when I saw a flavor called French Onion Scoop, I obviously had to get it. It's not good. The quality of the ice cream itself is top-notch (i.e. it's super creamy) but the flavor is just kind of gross. Plus there's a lot of sautéed onion in there and I think there's a reason onion and ice cream have never been combined before. I ate some of my cup but wound up throwing most of it away. To paraphrase Jeff Goldblum in Jurassic Park, Moo Shu was so preoccupied with whether or not they could make a French Onion Soup inspired ice cream flavor, they didn't stop to think if they should. (I should note I also tried a couple bites of their DunkaMoo's ice cream sandwich and it was really delicious, so obviously they are capable of making an excellent product.)
