It was so sweet that she remembered that I am a sparkling drink fan. I walked over to my car and opened my Uber Eats app on my phone. Yep, I saw the BOGO deal and immediately added it. I also needed to fetch dinner. It was great that Tealive had egg sandwiches called toasteas. Such a cute name! I got a hash brown and egg toastea. My order was perfect, as I was more thirsty than hungry. One-stop shopping is also extremely convenient! My friend said to head east along Richmond Road that becomes Somerset Street West and keep on driving till I saw this place in Chinatown. It was the easiest set of directions for this tourist. Tealive is by the arch in Chinatown. I turned left into a parking lot. It generally is one that you have to pay. However, I had arrived after the pay-up parking period, so I parked for free and walked over. This store has a single step to get in and out of the store. It may be an accessibility issue to some folks. It's a deep store. There were plenty of places to sit down and enjoy dining in. I went to the back third of the store. There's a counter on the left for pickup orders. I had a nice man helping me. I showed him my Uber Eats order. He fetched my paper bag with my order. I thanked him and happily headed to my car. I safely secured my order in my car and then drove back to my hotel room to enjoy my food and drinks. Toronto has similar places that sell egg sandwiches. What they lack is offering bubble tea. This place has everything that I love, especially with sparkling tea. The hash brown and egg toastea was incredible! The egg was in omelette form. It wasn't overdone. It was fluffy and enjoyable. You also get a rectangular hash brown. I loved how crispy it was on the outside. It was seasoned nicely and was perfect. Perhaps to make you feel like you're eating something healthy, it had a tomato slice and romaine lettuce. They were fresh and complimented the hash brown and egg perfectly. The bread was toasted. You saw horizontal marks on the bread, which made me think that they use a sandwich press of some sort. The bread provided the perfect crunch, while still being soft. It held the entire sandwich together without wearing what you were eating. The toasted bread sets this toastea egg sandwich apart from similar egg sandwiches in the GTA. Here, you get a lot of bread that isn't toasted to the same extent. It's also so dry that you end up consuming a bunch of fluid to wash it down. My sandwich came with a couple of sauces. You can certainly enjoy the sandwich without them. One was cheese. The other one was a cross between mayo and tartar. They were perfect with the sandwich. The toastea tastes better with them. I was so thirst after having consumed a ton of sodium at lunch that I actually had both 3Q sparkling mango green teas that evening. It was a first for me. I normally have one immediately and the other the following day. Both drinks had no sugar and half ice. I didn't have the option to go less ice, but it didn't matter all that much. It was such a hot day that half ice sounded inviting! The drinks were divine. I loved the carbonation in them. Bubbles rule! They feel fancy when you drink them. Sparkling drinks are more enjoyable if the option is there. The 3Q toppings were pearls, coconut jelly, and sago. They were the perfect trifecta in these drinks. You got chewiness, a bit of sweetness, and different textures to devour while sipping on the perfect combination of mango flavour with perfectly brewed green tea. I loved this place so much that on my final full day in Ottawa, I ordered takeout from Tealive again for dinner. My order was the same, except that I tossed in Japanese strawberry shortcake. It did feel like a carbon copy of my visit. Even my order the second time felt like my first visit. The same sandwich and sparking bubble teas were yummy and consistent. I was impressed. The Japanese strawberry shortcake was delicious. It was the perfect portion, with layers of cake, whipped cream, and strawberry puree. I am normally not a huge fan of whipped cream, but I enjoyed how subtle it was. The strawberry flavour was spot on. I loved that it tasted like real strawberries. The strawberry slice on top was a nice touch. The cake was moist and fluffy. This dessert hit the spot. My sweet tooth was happy. This place was awesome! I long to return to try more toasteas, drinks, and desserts. This place had macarons. I'll need to get some next time. Toronto and its surrounding area need at least one Tealive. Please come here! After rolling it up, they added a few cubes of pineapple and sprinkled on shredded coconut and drizzled on some pineapple syrup. I would have loved some whipped cream, haha. Maybe I'll ask if they have any next time. It tasted great, very creamy and a smooth texture. It was fun to watch too. It's just a bit pricey for my budget, so nice for a once in a while treat, but I won't be a regular lol. However, it's about the same price as at Roll'd Up, which is the only other place in Ottawa that sells rolled ice cream, so I guess that's what the market will bear. I liked that the staff member preparing my ice cream wore a hairnet and gloves. They have no seats to dine in, so it's strictly takeout. However, they do have a washroom. It's a single stall that's wheelchair accessible. Staff were courteous. The ice cream takes a while to make, so I imagine the wait can be long if it's busy. I went on a rainy day and off-peak hours, so I was the only customer. I'm looking forward to returning to try their Falooda. They are in a small plaza. Same plaza as a Circle K. Maybe that was a good thing. The same thing happened to me today when I found out that Rockland has a Mr Puffs. Okay, how come Markham doesn't have good stuff like Mr Puffs? I digress. After spending several hours learning about the southern part of The Glebe with my friend after getting a similar tour four years earlier (yeah, I'm on Olympic time, folks), I felt like a cold drink. I remembered that Mr Puffs has iced teas that I like, so I walked over to this store. It was busy. There was an entire family ordering what looked like three packs of 30 puffs and a bunch of ice cream dishes. Naturally, I knew that my thirst would not be quenched quickly. I am patient. Perhaps too patient for my own good. I stood there waiting for someone to take my order for five minutes. There were two male staffers handling both the puffs and drinks. They were definitely short on staff for the demand. One of them was nice and came over to take my order. I got an iced peach black tea. I like that it's only one size and that it has a hint of sugar. I paid with a credit card. I tapped and my transaction was done. I then waited for my drink. The wait was at least ten minutes. Frankly, I lost track. The family ordering puffs galore did cause a backlog of orders. I was thrilled when I finally got my drink. I thanked the man and happily left the store. I slowly made my way to Whole Foods while sipping my drink. It hit the spot. It was such a hot day that a cold beverage made things cooler. It tasted consistent when comparing it to the previous drinks that I had at the Dixie location. It's my favourite iced tea drink out of the lot. I was in the area last night, but Mr Puffs was closed by the time I left to head back to the hotel. Maybe it was a good omen to not down a box of puffs so late at night. I'm getting two scoops, though" she said, laughing. This joint offers options for everyone. You can get a variety of gelato flavours that are made fresh every day. Gelato has dairy in it. If you're like me and want a dairy-free option, sorbetto is a nice alternative. I had overheard the conversation between the woman behind the counter and a couple about to pay for their treats: "Is it cash only?" the woman asked. "No, that's the Crazy Moose. We accept all cards and cash," the female staffer said. One word: yes! This same female staffer helped me out with my order. I got the following sorbetto flavours in a cup: - Guava - Lychee I paid with a credit card. I also tipped, thankful that I could use plastic to pay. I thanked her and left with my frozen dessert. There were a handful of little tables with chairs inside the store, but they were all taken. Instead, I went out in the hot weather and found outdoor seating. Luckily, there is a rather large tree that provided a lot of shade. There was also a breeze, so I wasn't sweating buckets. I loved my sorbetto. The guava and lychee were reminiscent of having Vitasoy as a kid. I loved these flavours. They were captured perfectly in the sorbetto, which wasn't all that sweet. The sorbetto scoops were refreshing and enjoyable to consume on a hot July afternoon. There were pigeons that looked like they were innocently befriending me. They were actually waiting for me to make a klutzy move. If I had dropped my sorbetto, they'd feast. They never got any of mine. I finished all of it. So good! It was nice to people-watch as I had my sorbetto. If you have the time to stop and enjoy things in ByWard Market, come here for a scoop of yumminess and savour it. It's a great place.
