So the Tealive in Chinatown is finally opened! It's where the Chatime used to be. It's the first Tealive location in Canada but opened without much fanfare. However, it was pretty busy when I went on a Saturday afternoon. I got a regular-sized Signature Pearl Milk Tea ($5.60) with no sugar and half ice, and also an Original Popcorn Chicken (which is $7.80 if you buy it alone, but $6.90 if you buy it with a drink). The drink was pretty small and had a lot more ice than I expected. However, the taste was good and they gave me lots of pearls relative to the size of the drink. The tea flavour was strong enough and the drink was creamy, but not overly so. No sugar was truly no sugar, unlike some places where I ask for no sugar but the drink somehow is so sweet. If the amount of ice I got was truly half, I would hate to see what regular ice looks like, lol. I had so much ice leftover and was finished the liquid part of my drink in a few sips. I had to scoop out the pearls with the straw at the end as the cup was just ice and pearls. The straw is a paper straw and held up much better than I thought it would. Points of environmental friendliness. The popcorn chicken was disappointing to me. It tasted like the popcorn chicken I get at Loblaws or Real Canadian Superstore. If I'm going to get popcorn chicken at a Bubble Tea joint, I expect it to taste better than grocery store popcorn chicken. It was mostly batter and the seasoning was unremarkable. To add insult to injury, the portion size was tiny for the price. However, it came in a paper cup with wooden skewers as the utensil, so again, kudos for being environmentally conscious. I waited quite a while for my drink and food, but they were busy, and they are new, so I will forgive the (lack of) speed of the service. They were friendly at least. Although they almost forgot to give me the discount on the popcorn chicken for buying a drink. I had to remind them. They do have these very interesting looking sandwiches that they call Toasties. I will return to try them and also to try their fruit teas. Definitely willing to give these guys a chance, but for now I'm rating 3 stars. Hoping to be able to bump up their rating with subsequent visits. Street parking only.

I finally decided to try this place, unfortunately not a fan of bubble tea personally but I've been told it's tasty by friends who drink the bubbles. The salted caramel iced latte is amazing! And I'm an avid Starbucks fan but this was amazing! The service was friendly and fast! And their food looks so good. I would definitely try their food next time I'm in!

This is a relatively new bubble tea place, and Ottawa and Ottawa is quite saturated with quite a few options. There are traditional places like Coco and cha time. I find this location to be very comparable to those are chains. There is alot more seating than I imagined, easy place to have a chat or study before it becomes popular soon I think that's nice about that is they have quite a few options available, and a funky ass that you can choose all your options and toppings from. I think the strength of this location as that there's a selection of many matcha drinks that are not available at Every location and this includes speciality matcha options, such as much as strawberry matcha. Will surely come again!

staff are super kind and friendly! the spicy chicken Katsu was really crunchy and the bread was so soft. the cheese is like American cheese which I don't LOVE so next time I'll just get it without !

Got the mango smoothie with pearls and it was so good! Wasn't too sweet which I prefer. The staff was super helpful for recommendations for the person I went with. Will be back!

Amazing service and the chicken katzu sandwich was delicious along with a good bubble tea

My daughter got us some bubble tea at Tealive. It was great. She got us some pearl milk tea and something called 3Q mango green tea. It had pearls, sago and jelly. My daughter is very healthy and is trying to get us to be the same so she got the mango one without sugar and the milk one with 30% sugar (I read this on the stickers on the teas, haha). The drinks still tasted good. I didn't miss the missing sugar. The pearls were chewy and didn't stick together, so they were fresh. My daughter told me they are opening a Tealive closer to my house in Orleans. Can't wait!

Tealive opens late! Great for late night boba craving. Their service is quick and efficient. Although we came at 10pm, they had fresh pearls. Aside from drinks, they have a large selection of savory food and fresh baked desserts. Would definitely come back to try the food next time!

I love coming here for lunch, the food is great, reasonably priced, and the staff is incredibly friendly. They're always great about accommodating minor changes to the sandwiches at no added expense, and the coleslaw, chips or cookies are great additions. Try the Holland, it's my favorite!

The Long Version: District Deli opened up around March 2025 in the space that was Bismallah Pies (was Charlie's Groceteria before that). My husband and I dropped by to pick up a sandwich to share. The sandwiches are all named after nearby streets, which really gives it that neighbourhood feel. All meat sandwiches are $13.99 and vegetarian sandwiches are $12.49. You can also build your own for $13.99 where you can choose 2 meats, one cheese, and whatever vegetables you like. We went with the build your own option. We got roast beef and prosciutto cotto, fresh mozzarella and lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, pickled onions, pickled eggplants, and roasted red peppers, with a bit of honey mustard. The sandwich was really good. The bread was fresh, as were the other ingredients. It was a bit pricey in my opinion, but this is in comparison to other similar sandwich shops with $8-10 sandwiches (like 50 Two Sandwiches or Shorty's Sandwiches), but they are in industrial parts of town, so I get it, rent in Hintonburg is higher. District Deli only has cold sandwiches. No hot sandwiches, at least not at the time of the writing of this review. Service was courteous and efficient. Street parking only. Review #118 (2025)

This sandwich is literally the reason I downloaded this app…read more I've just spent the whole winter in Quebec and am now hitchhiking across Canada and decided to stay in Ottawa a few days. I booked 4 nights at the Saintlo jail hostel and when I came downstairs after a rejuvenating nap I saw that they had a list of recommendations sitting amongst a pile of other plastic sheets. Dirienzo's - the best ITALIAN SANDWICH in the city. I'm not really an Italian sandwich sort of person normally, maybe it was contributed by the burgeoning like for cured meats that I was acquiring after eating dried salami as my only source of food for the past week or so -- but who's going to pass up the chance to try the BEST of anything? I got there after taking 2 buses and was starting to become a bit concerned. I had $40 in my account and was hitchhiking across the country -- after all it was labelled the BEST in the city and that would normally come with a hefty price tag. When I first opened the door I instantly got greeted by the guy behind the counter, which made me feel welcomed and at ease. I looked up to view the selection of sandwiches that they had on offer and potentially the cheaper ones. I was surprised to see the sign that said $10 for ANY SANDWICH!! #booyah I was finding it hard to decide on which of the sandwiches to get since they all looked so appetising, but decided on number 16. The sandwich was massive for the price that it was. The bread was a perfect mix between durable so that it wouldn't fall apart in your hands, but soft enough that it was enjoyable, with the amount of bread contemplating he rest of the fillings just the right amount. I was pretty overwhelmed to be honest with how good it was. All of the ingredients including the lettuce (which I've found is usually the first thing places will skimp out on) were extremely fresh. I put in my coworker groupchat: "Anyone coming over across Canada after the season has to make a stop in Ottawa if they aren't already just to try one of these." Accompanied by a photo of my eyes watering with glee. My Nonna is always telling me how I need to learn Italian to be more connected to our culture and I've always just kindof brushed it off since I haven't needed to use it and we don't speak it much at home, but this has made me so proud to be Italian. As I continued to eat the sandwich sitting on a bench looking towards the city and the people playing basketball in the park, I found myself contemplating staying in Canada and raising my kids here in Ottawa so that they get to experience it themselves on a warm summer afternoon after picking them up from school. I usually get a latte there but decided on a regular one, that was a mistake. Their food did taste good, and their chutney was still delicious but the service was a bit gruff. They weren't rude by any means but I was ignored for 10 mins just waiting to ask for a takeout box. I could tell he was a bit overwhelmed and probably having an off morning, so I didn't take it personally. But when I'm paying $30 for one breakfast bowl and a coffee, I'd expect more than 2 cherry tomatoes cut in half and a few mushrooms in it. The food is delicious but you're definitely overpaying and 50/50 on the coffee lol

All the nearby spots are reserved for the apartment dwellers in the building. Ordered a Huevo Ranchero ($16) - which came with scrambled eggs two corn tortillas with salsa, cheese, sour cream and a side order of fries. The eggs could have used some seasoning even with salsa it needed something extra A Vegan Breakfast Bowl ($14) - a mixture of tofu, spinach, mushrooms and tomato chutney - which somehow tasted to all 4 of us like onion chutney. The vegetables done good, but tofu again had just no flavour. Tofu had a spice rub all over, but it tasted like plain tofu. The Bacun strips were rice paper rolls with some attempted flavours but none came through. And two Vegan Bennies ($16) - a super grainy slice of bread topped with the same tofu, green onions, Bacun and some red pepper strips (NOT Coulis as described in the menu). If some person was having a tofu dish for the first time I think they would describe tofu as no flavour at all. We vegans know that you can do amazing things with Tofu. The home fries in the above dishes was the best - now that we could give 5 out 5. All of us had to go and get Sriracha and Ketchup from the counter to rescue the dishes. Coffee was too weak as well. When you go in and order on the counter and you get food delivered to your table. Should the restaurant still offer to tip on the machine BEFORE even we were served? The order did take a long time, the table not clean when we sat, no condiments on the table and coffee refills slow. An extra star for giving tons of vegan options
