But here in this location, they have an education centre as well. You can also get souvenirs and coffee brewing items. Currently, my favourite coffee of theirs is called "Freaking Good". Right now, because of covid, there is less seating inside, but you can sit outside under a tent, which covers several tables. At the counter, you can also pick up sweet treats. I like the service and the food here, so I've been here many times over the years (like with knitting friends or my hubby), and I look forward to coming back.

We dropped by to check out this Frankenstein of a creation we saw online. It was an espresso in a donut. Yup you read that right! Space is a little smaller than the old location but they now sell vinyl and books. The barista is a awesome. Super friendly and makes good coffee. There's a lot of different drinks you can get, the food menu looks a little limited at the moment but they're working on it. They're also working on a liquor license as well. Here's a pic of the donut coffee. The donut is really dense at the bottom but light on the top. There's also some Nutella or similar spread inside the donut. I'd say, I might get this again as they're willing to put any drink inside. I found the dense part of the donut heavy, so donut tops only for me! I will purchase Starbucks if its my last resort as a treat, but I find their baked goods/food uninspiring and overpriced. I also do not enjoy their coffee, and don't even get me started on their refreshers, its basically full of ice. ANYWAYS, this is not a Starbucks review. Equator was a breath of fresh air. The interior was clean and bright, with the most amazing, cheerful staff. They carry Suzy Q donuts which we did order (oreo and blueberry fritter, both amazing) and the hubs grabbed a flat white. The drink menu is on the smaller side, which I like. Too many options confuse me. I like things to be simple. They also have some prepared foods like sandwiches, and some bowls. I did notice a chickpea salad bowl, which I will have to try next time. Only downside, is this place is so popular that with the many tables around, there was no seating. I stood eating my donut, until we luckily had a table open up a couple bites in. I would love if they added some bar stools around the barista station. There are some outdoor tables, but it was a chilly day. I CANNOT wait for Equator to open at the Indigo on Ogilvie.

My current city also had a named café called Cloudforest, so, we thought it would be fun to stop in and warm up after the significant February snowstorms. I was impressed to see such a cute space inside of a store, or vice versa. The merchandise being sold was not interesting to me, but we were indeed excited about the coffee and pastries. Upon ordering, we decided to split the iconic Nanaimo Bar, which was cold and wrapped for freshness. I ordered a cappuccino, and my sister ordered a matcha latte. We sat ourselves in the dining-in area, which was warm, cozy, and semi-private. I love a tight seating area, since cafés are like a third space. It's very hygge! When the drinks were delivered to us by the nice staff. we sipped, chatted, and warmed up. However, my sister, who drinks matcha often, was disappointed in her drink. The matcha to hot water ratio was too high, so the drink had a grimy/chunky vibe. I confirmed my taste. My cappuccino was fine, especially since they made it to order European style. I would return! I would also recommend the staff place a water jug and glasses out for customers. We noticed a few customers have issues trying to get water.

The space is small with just a few tables at the front by the window. I like the vibe and the staff are very friendly and nice. I've had the Creamy Dill Chickpea Wrap ($8.50) here and while the flavour was great, it was way too oily/greasy. I don't know what it is with sandwiches/wraps from cafes in Westboro, but I have the exact same complaint with Equator Coffee across the street. The sandwiches and wraps are full of oil and grease :( Anyway, my hands were literally dripping with oil as I was eating my wrap. Thankfully it was to go and I ate it at home because it was super messy, lol. The chickpeas were firm, so I suspect they are from dried instead of canned, so I did like that. The carrots were crunchy too, which added a nice texture. I expected more of a dill flavour and I wouldn't have described the sauce as "creamy" but rather "oily." The flavour was really good though, lots of spices, so not bland at all. I've also had the brownie. It's dense and very rich! It's covered in icing sugar. Too dense, rich and sweet for me, but my husband enjoyed it and I can see how others would as well. I have yet to have the coffee or tea here, which is their forte. I suspect the food plays second fiddle to their drinks. So I'm going to go with 4 stars in good faith, even though I would rate the food I had as 3 stars. However, the cafe is cute and the staff were great, which counts for something ;) Street parking only.
