Front of the cafe and roastery.

My husband and I usually go to the Equator Coffee in Westboro, which is walking distance from our house. We like their coffee and baked goods, but my husband recently got into roasting his own coffee beans, so we decided to go to their main location in Almonte, which is a cafe and roastery to buy some green coffee beans. Well, we weren't able to buy any green coffee beans from them, despite them having some there (in big vats). We were told that we had to buy them online and pay to have them shipped to our house. Picking up at the store after purchasing online is only available for wholesale orders, so retail orders have to pay for shipping regardless. So that kind of sucked. Good thing we didn't drive all the way to Almonte just for those green coffee beans. I think that they should develop a system for people to buy green coffee beans at the roastery. Like the beans are right there, so just have the staff weigh out a pound, package it and sell it. Anyway, we left without buying anything, but I'm sure their coffee and food are good, because they supply the Westboro location, which we've been to many times. This Almonte location is much bigger and it also has lots of free parking.

Flat white and a ginger molasses cookie

As always, the staff, and what they serve, exceeds expectations. The flat white and ginger molasses cookie was the perfect afternoon pick-me-up. Some would question why I would drive 25 minutes for something I can get closer. My answer is "why not?". Sometimes the travel makes the experience that much richer.

A casual fair trade coffee house that you can sign up to go on a tour of the back to see how they roast their coffee beans. I've gone several times and each time the dark coffee or coffee drinks are outstanding.

Even the latte is made with love .

The coffee beans are great and I love the smell that wafts over my street when they roast the beans.

Incredible service and BOMB coffee. I would say, without hesitation, the best in Canada. Prices are fair and the store is bright and lovely.

(You aren't going to find it by wandering the shopping district.) They do sell a number of interesting fair trade items - jewelry etc.

The Long Version: My husband and I met my husband's sister and her husband here to hang out before we went to see a show at the Studio Theatre. I got a cinnamon bun ($3.50) and a herbal tea ($3.50), and my husband got a black coffee ($2.75). The cinnamon bun was unremarkable in my opinion. It was just ok, maybe even a bit dry, and also on the thin side. Not thick and fluffy. My tea was just a tea bag from Four O'clock Teas (I got Turmeric Cinnamon, which at least is a more unusual flavour that I haven't seen in stores). The temperature was nice and hot, but it was just bagged tea from a brand sold in health food stores. The inside of the cafe is nice. We sat in the front room near the service counter, but there are back rooms that are a bit more quiet. I would say the ambiance is the nicest thing. Service was pleasant. Maybe some of their other baked goods have more oomph and maybe their crafted drinks are special. My experience was just ok, but it might have been what I ordered. Street parking or paid parking lot parking only, but the lots are free on weekends and you can park on the street for 2 hours for free. Review #39 (2025)

It's really hard to choose one, so sometimes you just have to get more than one. There's indoor seating, patio seating and seating by the water!
