I went to North Grenville/Kemptville for a daytrip, and I really enjoyed the takeout I got from the crusty baker! I chose a sandwich, soup, and a couple of baked goods. I was most impressed with the baked goods; the butter tart was indulgent, and the scone had great flavour. I would prefer baked goods instead of the savoury food; I found the sandwich could have had more volume of toppings, and the soup was a small portion for $6.50. However, service was very friendly and helpful! I will return for baked goods when I am back.

Had stopped in for lunch and had the soup and sammich du jour. the sammich was a pickled roasted red pepper with baby spinach and brie cheese with some sicy salami and tomato on some great crusty italian bread. Very tasty. Some might find the salami slightly spicy. The soup du jour was so good. A home made chicken and leek soup. Great flavor! $16 before tip with a baguette of rosemary and sea salt. Definitely will be back.

I fully concur that the breads are fabulous. I have done the soup and sandwich lunch numerous times and enjoyed the creativity of the menu that changes daily. I have also loved the crepes whether morning or afternoon- regular or savoury- as a main or dessert. So far a seat has been available whenever I have visited though at times space seemed at a premium. Breads amongst the best I have tasted. Even better is a soup you rate as topnotch and then return again for a 10.

Pheasant and apple soup and pulled pork half sandwich!! Yummmy!!

This now turns out to be my favourite, out of the 2 (YES, two!) Chinese restaurants located in the…read moresmall town of Prescott - which has roughly 5,000 people. Both have run similar models since the 3+ years we have lived here, and probably since COVID started in 2020: this model being take out only. By offering this model, they have managed to keep both locations in business, and the citizens of Prescott sane. I have heard that both were operated by... brothers? Cousins? Not sure, but they were related. I used to like the other restaurant better, until recently, when both opened for dine-in as well as continued take out; I had ordered a dish at the other place that I had liked better than here (however, to be fair, I cannot know recall what that dish was! Time to sample and compare again.) On the other hand, I have also heard that both locations have recently changed hands, so we shall see what the future holds. We recently had cause to dine in at this restaurant, and they were accommodating for our group of 11 or 12 people. Service was pleasant, if a bit flustered; one waitress was serving all the guests in the restaurant. Once the other diners were taken care of, and her attention was focused on us, things went more smoothly. The food was good, and the service was attentive from this point forward. There were even a few bits of the meal packaged to take-home (so I guess Chinese take out never really goes out of style!) I loved the decor here; we were in the 2nd dining room, where our chatter would not interfere with the other guests. The space is nicely decorated. There's even an old fireplace in this room. I look forward to going backnto dine in.

Just went there again this week. Excellent food and portions are great. Lots of variety but I have…read moresome dishes that I love so I haven't tried everything. Never had a bad meal. The food is high quality - often locally sourced and organic. Dahl soup was tasty, with just a hint of heat from the spice. Chicken taco filling was tasty but... and I think this is where I'm struggling... I am realizing that I really don't like soft tacos. Something about the texture of the taco itself puts me off. I'm sitting here trying to decide if I'm being fair giving them a three because of my preference for taco shells. I guess what I'm saying is: take my review with a (proverbial) grain of salt. Would love to see a garbage can and recycling bin put out. Since they are located on the UOttawa campus during school year, plan to bus/walk to get there. (Parking is a pain during the week.) If you get off at Campus Station 2B, Sweetpea (the truck) is really close by. (Don't take my word for it though - things change, so make sure you check on that.) Staff was great. They have 2 tables and about 6 chairs for people who want to sit and eat for a bit. Would I return: Yes. I'd love to go again when it's not Taco Thursday, to try to get a different menu item. Would I recommend: Yup - if you like healthy choices that are locally sourced and organic, this is a great option.

TL;DR/The Short Version: Cute little place in Stittsville…read moreselling tasty soups and sandwiches. The Long Version: I had lunch at Wiches Cauldron recently and it was great. I got the Chicken Sandwich ($15.95). It was sliced real chicken breast meat, mozzarella cheese, mixed greens, cucumbers, picked onions and fig jam. It usually comes with mayo, but I asked them to omit it. All sandwiches come with a mini 4 oz soup. I chose the curried carrot and squash soup. The sandwich was delicious. The bread they use is a Kaiser and it's from Carp Bakery. It was soft and very fresh. I loved that the meat was real chicken and not deli meat. The fig jam was tasty and gave the sandwich a nice sweet taste. The soup was a bit watery, but was full of flavour. It had a strong curry flavour and the coconut milk in it made it a bit creamy. I enjoyed it. Funny story: I ordered the chicken sandwich. They ask your name for the order. The lady who ordered after me also got the chicken sandwich but she asked for no cheese. The cashier announced to the kitchen "no cheese on the chicken sandwich" and the kitchen asked "which order? Jennifer's?" And the cashier said "no, the next one, I haven't punched it in yet." Lol. I chimed in "I love cheese, I definitely want cheese on my sandwich!" The man in the kitchen said "alright, extra cheese for Jennifer!" And the lady after me said "yeah, you can have my cheese." Haha. So I got two slices of cheese in my sandwich. Score! Lol. Everyone working there was super nice and friendly. It's a small place, so the cash and the kitchen are right next to each other. I took my order to go, but there's seating to dine in. I noticed they have a small amount of branded merchandise, like baseball caps. There is free parking in their private parking lot at the back of the restaurant. Fun facts: The Wiches Cauldron started off as a food truck in the early/mid 2010s. Some time in the early 2020s they moved into their present location which was Red Gables Creperie before (it was also briefly Red Gables Ramen before they rebranded and started selling crepes instead of ramen).
