This is a shop at byward market. You order at the counter and then wait on the side for your order. The service is fast and we tried the classic beavertail and the mEHple beavertail. Both were delicious! The dough is light, airy, and served warm, and the toppings went well with the dough. The classic beavertail is topped with cinnamon and sugar. The mEHple is topped with maple butter, maple sugar crunch, and a chocolate drizzle. They are large enough to share.

No words, 10/10. The dough was airy, light and thin. Paired perfectly with Nutella and bananas. I understand why there's always a line to this!!

A must try in Ottawa! This is the flagship location at ByWard Market. My wife and I got an apple cider and a lemon beavertail. Our server was great and it's just an outdoor counter with outdoor seating and it was a cold rainy day so we took it back and loved it.

I was shocked at how much I enjoyed the beavertail I got. To preface this, I'm Chinese American and I don't love a lot of fried, very sweet desserts (funnel cakes, donuts, etc.) BUT these beavertails are surprisingly light and soft! I'm really glad I got the pistachio one, because it was a perfect sweet and nutty balance. I would've loved to have some chocolate drizzle on it though! If I'm back in Canada, I'll definitely try different toppings! Also service was fast (even though the line was always long) and the location of this place is perfect! You can grab a beavertail and walk around the Byward Market as you enjoy it!

I can't believe that I have never reviewed this BeaverTails store. It's the flagship. The mothership. The BeaverTails ship. Okay, it's not really a ship... yet. =) I can't explain why I haven't. I stayed in ByWard Market years ago on vacation and dropped by for my BeaverTails fix. I guess I must have missed the review opportunity. Early last month, I was in the area. I ended up doing a snack-hopping exercise after a late lunch consisting of beef noodle soup and wontons. Sorbet, fruit and dessert fondue, and a mocha shake preceded dropping by this BeaverTails location. It was the yummy smell that drew me in. Deep-fried dough with toppings? Yes, please! I have two go-to BeaverTail flavours: - Bananarama - Apple pie I felt like the latter. The best part coming here at around 5 pm? No lineup! The nicest, friendliest man helped me with my order. I paid with a credit card. I tipped and was done. It took no time for my apple pie BeaverTail to be handed over to me. I thanked the man and looked around for a place to sit down. I found a wooded bench around the corner from this BeaverTails store. I was still looking at it while I was eating my apple pie BeaverTail. The apple pie BeaverTail was hot. I actually had to sit there and wait for it to cool down. It was so messy to eat, but was worth it. I also wasn't a local, so looking like a slob was fine. This snack hit the spot. I loved the dough, the chunks of apple, and the saucy pie filling that married everything together. It did taste like a deconstructed apple pie, but eaten by either shovelling it into my mouth or ripping it apart because it was a decent weight. Thank goodness I had napkins. I needed them. So messy. So delicious! I'm glad that I finally have a review for this BeaverTails. My life is complete. =) (320)

-Came here in 2022 while on tour from NYC. Heard beaver tails were a local favorite so I did some research. I saw this place recommended on multiple websites so I checked it out late one night. -Got the classic which is just with cinnamon sugar I think. It was plenty large. It's mostly just like a donut or fritter in a different shape, but still definitely a special, satisfying treat and worth trying! The texture and freshness was what really set it apart for me from other similar fried pastries. -Long lines but fast service!

I was randomly craving something mildly sweet and remembered that beaver tails was a popular snack and my hotel was close to one. While it was a little pricey for a piece of fried dough with cinnamon sugar and lemon, it hit the spot. Order came out about 2 minutes after we ordered and it was fresh and super hot. Note that this stand is card only and do not accept cash.

A visit to this Beavertail location is a must when in Ottawa. Many flavors to choose from. I personally like the classic. Warm, sweet & just the right amount of cinnamon brings joy when ever I indulge in this Canadian staple dessert. The line ups might belong but the service is quick at this location. Other notable items: the hot applied cider and hot chocolate are also delicious.

Finally I got to try the famous Beavertails!! For the first time I was recommended to try cinnamon sugar and lemon type and it was awesome! I really love lemon in this combo, it balanced the sweetness well. Make sure you grab enough napkins because it's slightly oily. Recommend it!

This wasn't our first visit to Canada, but it was our first visit to BeaverTails. It was beautiful cold snowy morning, when we smelled some hot delicious treats after exiting Byward market. We really wanted some hot cider, but then noticed deep fried pastry with chocolate-hazelnut spread on the menu and I knew that was the one for me. We loved it. The service was great, we were the only customers but still they were very kind and generous in helping us make decision.

You have to try the one thing everyone asks if you've had when in Ottawa: A beaver tail! Delicious options include one with Nutella and banana but the original was the best for me. I recommend you share one unless you're really hungry. Service is fast and accommodating. The ambiance is super busy, it's located in the busy Bymarkert area.

I completed the order form asking for Delivery Dec 18. When I confirmed with my family they didn't receive it I called. I had all my info from the original order, I was abruptly told they don't deliver outside of Ottawa to a bedroom community. I said that would have been helpful information the month prior when they took my money. The person was rude and saying there aren't delivering at all in Dec. again then don't take orders. They did process the refund upon request but I doubt I would have unless I followed up. I would never use again! I originally wanted a drink. I was in front of Cacao 70. I had never been to any of its franchises in my life. It was time to check this one out. This dessert place is next to a plant store. Deadly for someone who loves plants and chocolate. I was immediately greeted by a young man. He said to sit anywhere that I'd like. I chose a table with four chairs. My bag with my new pair of Crocs occupied one of them with my purse. I sat down and got menus from the man. There were a couple of men, it looked like a dad-son duo, sitting by the window. They ordered a bit ahead of me and pretty much wolfed down everything. I asked for water. I got cold water in a glass carafe, along with a glass. This water alone hit the spot. I ordered an iced mocha from the menu first. It's a mom-son duo running the show. They speak Cantonese. I overheard their conversation attempting to secure a used stove over the phone. What caught my attention on the menu was doing a fondue for one. Although I wasn't dying to eat anything, dessert time with fruit seemed perfect. I chose dark chocolate as my classic chocolate fondue. The dunkable items that accompanied the fondue consisted of chocolate brownie bites, classic waffle bites, and fruit (bananas, strawberries, and pineapple). The iced mocha was awesome. I heard it being blended in the kitchen before it came to me. It was cold, and had the best balance of coffee and chocolate flavours. It does have dairy in it. I thoroughly enjoyed having a fondue hour on a Thursday afternoon. The fruit was fresh and the perfect size to dunk into the dark chocolate. The sheen on the dark chocolate was impressive. This place does chocolate fondue superbly. There is something zen about dunking fruit and other goodies into dark chocolate with a fondue fork and indulging in each coated morsel. The dark chocolate was perfect. It wasn't bitter. It wasn't sugary. It was exactly how I like dark chocolate, but in fondue form. The chocolate brownie bites made you feel like this fondue experience was fancy. Chocolate on chocolate on chocolate. The bites had a crispy exterior that held the softer interior together as you dunked it into the fondue. So good! The waffle bites were equally as cool. It was like having chocolate waffles, but better and without any maple syrup or whipped cream. I paid at the counter with a credit card. It also allowed me to tip. I let the man know that everything was delicious, which he appreciated. This place didn't have air conditioning, but cool air did circulate well. There was a fly around, which was the only annoying part of the experience. I used the washroom before I left. It was a single stall that was clean. It's to the left of the counter when you walk up to it. I loved being here. I really should visit Cacao 70 more often. I'm so glad that my first experience at one was in Ottawa. (314)
