I placed an order Sunday night to help support my niece's cheer team. Pickup options started as early as Tuesday at 8 am, so I picked that time. My husband and I selected 4 special donuts: oreo nirvana, boston creme, maple bacon, and lemon ricotta. Pickup was straightforward--the location had plenty of parking at 8 am, and I popped in, gave them my name from the order, and was shortly on my way home with the donuts! The donuts were pretty good but not particularly spectacular. Oreo Nirvana: The cake had a great texture, but it didn't taste as chocolatey as I had expected. Still an enjoyable choice. Boston Creme: My husband said it was good, so I'll take his word! Maple Bacon: My absolute favourite. The balance of maple flavour and bacon was perfect--the flavours harmonized wonderfully, instead of competing. Lemon Ricotta: My husband rated it a 7/10 but noted that the ricotta was a little wet and that he wished the lemon flavour had more punch. Overall, it was a good experience. I would happily support another fundraising event with Maverick's Donuts, though I might otherwise look elsewhere for satiating my personal donut cravings. read more

I hadn't had Maverick donuts in a long time. Quick recap: Fritter was absolutely epic! Super fresh, still warm and literally melted in my mouth. I also had a cinnamon/sugar donut it was average at best. Very dense and possibly from the day before as I was there very early in the morning. 3.5 stars! I have had maverick's in the past and absolutely loved the lemon ricotta and several other flavours. I came here pick up a bunch of donuts, some regular and some vegan. Service wasn't the friendliest unfortunately but the donuts looked delicious. Unfortunately they didn't have any of the donuts with fillings including my favourite one from last time. I ended up getting 4 regular and 4 vegan. It cost $30 which I felt was a bit overpriced. You do save the taxes when you buy 6 or more which was nice however. The vegan are not visually appealing but were actually quite good and were a crowd-pleaser! The regular was quite beautiful and were good but they weren't my favourite! I would definitely give Maverick's another try in the future and hopefully the experience will be a bit better. read more

Let's admit it, you cannot go on Instagram without seeing tons of photos of Maverick's Donuts and their awesome & creative flavour inventions all over your news feed. I've tried Maverick's in the past, but finally got the chance to actually go in their bakery shop today since I was in the neighbourhood. The interior is super cute, yet hip. Totally gave me NYC vibes. It can be a bit intimidating with all the choices that they have, (everything looks soooo good), but the staff are super friendly and I never felt rushed throughout my stay or the ordering process. The one thing I recommend is not to take too long to decide because these donuts go quickly. Fritters aren't my jam, but I decided to try the blueberry fritter and a lemon ricotta donut. The fritter was soooo flavourful, I did not want to share mine with my husband. Try the fritter-you will not be disappointed! The lemon ricotta was really tasty and different. I enjoyed the filling inside. Originally, I had my eye set on the creme brule donut. There was one left sitting there on the shelf, but the customer behind me snatched it up before I had the chance. Remember what I said about not taking too long to decide? The icing on the cake is that when I was leaving and already out the door, one of the employees came outside and told me that she was making me a creme brule donut to go-on the house! My heart went warm and fuzzy because it's so rare to see that kind of customer service these days. She went above and beyond and that kind of customer service really stands out to me. The creme brule donut was everything I remember it being. I would buy the icing in bulk if I could; it was caramely, yet salty, sooooo good! If you get the chance to try it-do it! I'm a huge fan of Maverick Donuts Byward market, and was super excited to take my sister there, but due to the recent pandemic I was forced to visit the bank street location. It was mid morning on a saturday, not unusually busy. There were two cars parked by the front door both trunks open and full of donut boxes. Upon entering, I discovered they were wiped out and most of the donuts left had chocolate but could see they were making more in the back so I stayed in line, hopeful. When it was finally my turn, I asked about more being made I was told they weren't and that was it. Wandered in here to check out this new business. They have premade specialty donuts as well as "Dip & Decorate" donuts. They also offer both a yeast and cake model of donut. As it was the end of their day - and they are newly opened, so getting a lot of curiosity shoppers (like us) they were out of 3 of the specialty donuts. No problem - there were still 3 left! We bought a 1/2 dozen including one "D&D". We stopped to eat two in the store: (1) Cherry Cheese Cake, on - you guessed it - a cake style donut. For my taste, I would enjoy more cheese, less sugar, in the icing. It was good but... (2) D&D - we did caramel with coconut. Since we ate it in the store, the topping was still warm - that was quite enjoyable! (In case you didn't pick up that hint - eat the D&Ds in the store!) The rest have come home and I'll try them later. As for the rest of the experience: Great decor: clean, sleek with a retro punch of colour - loved it. I was really craving donuts when I found them on UberEats. They had really good reviews and their pictures were beautiful so I thought that I should try them! First, I want to note that their packaging is very nice 5/5 (Important to me that it was a box and not plastic container) When I tried the first one, it felt too moist and way too sweet (I think it was the chocolate one) and I got a bit disappointed. I guess it was not very fresh too because it was turning hard on the surface. However, when I moved on to other flavours, especially the vegan oreo, they were exactly what I was craving! Soft, moderately sweet and not greasy. Some reminded me of cake pops (I think they actually mention it in the menu). I gave 4/5 because not all the donuts were fresh. Wanted to try Mavericks for a while and I'm happy I did! I love cake based donuts and these donuts weren't heavy, they were light and fluffy not too sweet but just sweet enough. Really enjoyed the key lime pie donut, they infused lime juice into the whip cream. The maple bacon was perfect matching sweet and savoury, and vanilla dip is hard to screw up! I like that they don't fully glaze their donuts, I find it makes them way too sweet. The staff were friendly and very helpful when I made my choices. I will say they are pretty small donuts, and wish they were closer to full sized donuts. I paid $10 for 6, so pretty reasonably priced. read more

This is a review of the donuts that I received for their National Donut Day promotion last Friday (6 free donuts delivered to your door by UberEats). These donuts were crazy hard to obtain (it took me 1 hour of attempting to order, since their server was probably overwhelmed by requests) and I think I was pretty lucky to get them! I got 2 plain, 1 chocolate, and 3 powdered sugar (they picked them for me). I only tried the chocolate and powdered sugar ones since I shared the others, and I found them delicious! I definitely prefer these over the ones at SuzyQ, which I find too dense and too sweet. I made my order over the phone on my way to pick them up. I asked for 6 donuts - variety, colourful and unique. The person taking the order was very helpful and patient with me (thank you!) I got them for a friend but pretty much had a bite of all 6 of them hahaha Not a big bacon person, but the maple bacon one was very tasty. S'mores looked and tasted great. I accidentally stumbled upon their store today when visiting Farm Boy (I had no idea they were in the same parking lot) and the sign doesn't really pop out at you but once you know where they are you will never forget. Went in and grabbed a donut and each of my friends had one also and the staff was very friendly and explained each donut and all the toppings you could get. You can choose one of their specialty or go with choose your own sauce (chocolate, maple, vanilla and caramel I think are the options) and then get it dipped in whichever topping you choose and they have a bunch. read more

Extremely dirty place. We asked the server (Victoria) to clean our table as they were dirty....she cleaned it with a dirty rag so made it dirtier. I then grabbed a glass in their counter to fill up with water and this too was dirty. One of the girls was really nice, however the other one looked very angry and was not pleasant at all. So glad that I was able to pop by this place and give Maverick's a fair shake. The place is super clean, bright, lots of seating and the staff are super welcoming. I got a half dozen and was really excited. These donuts, as the Maverick's box suggests, are done different. These donuts are a dense, heavy donut. You remember those white tiny donuts you used to get (maybe even still get), well they are a much higher quality version of that, with gourmet written all over them.These donuts definitely will get you excited if that is the type of donut that you enjoy. Their flavours vary, and are done very, very well. Even their packaging is beautiful, whoever designed this and is in charges of their advertising, great job! Anyways, the only reason why I have a 4 star review instead of 5 is because personally, I do not enjoy this type of donut. Worth the trek! As a die hard cake lover, I couldn't resist popping by for a snack. The maple bacon was mouthwateringly orgasmic. Fluffy and moist on the inside but dense enough to not make a giant sticky mess.The maple topping is definitely on the sweeter side (similar to maple creme cookies) but the saltiness from the crumble balances it out perfectly. Portion size was on par as well; smaller circumfrence than Tim Hortons but thicker in height. The store was as clean as to be expected, staff were equally as friendly. I appreciate that they were knowledgable about the different coffee options. Kudos to everyone for delivering an exceptional experience. I can't wait for the byward market location to open. Maverick's is alright, but I wasn't really impressed. The store is a bit small, but well laid out (though I wish they had a coat rack or something, as there really isn't anyplace to put one if you don't feel like wearing it while you eat). I was really excited to try the lemon ricotta donut, but just found the lemon too overpowering and the donut too rich. Though it wasn't bad by any means, it just wasn't great. Their coffee was fine, but I ordered a latte and I swear their was no milk in it. They also have mugs, but didn't offer me one despite asking if my order was for there or to go. The prices also aren't great, kind of expensive even, all things considered. read more

So immensely upset to hear that they only serve fritters on Fridays now. My husband and I would come in on Saturday mornings (our only day off together) get our fritters, because Maverick's fritters are some of the best we've ever had, and we made it part of our routine. Well, it goes like this: Service: 5 stars Displays: 4 stars Freshness: 5 stars Taste: 3 to 4 stars Overall, we were impressed by the service, cleanliness and freshness but sadly a little underwhelmed by the taste of some donuts. The winner was by far the apple fritter and a close runner up was a split between the crème brûlé and the maple-bacon. Actually, the fritter was voted best fritter in town by the entire family! However, I sort of lose interest when I notice highly processed fillings being used. The fake whipped cream in the long Johns (I think that was the name) reminded me of the type found in cheap grocery store pastries, the kind that could last forever without even changing one bit. That was a bit of a disappointment. The service was exceptionally friendly and enthusiastic. It was near closing when we visited but we were never rushed. We opted for a nice selection of 6 to share between 4 eager donut lovers (warning: these donuts are humungous) and we were given a few extra donuts at no extra cost. We actually didn't even notice the extras until we got home and opened the boxes. You can find Maverick's in the Blue Heron Mall. Omg! Horrible customer service. It apparently takes two staff members to help one customer. One customer was ahead of me and one staff was helping her. The other person was just standing at the cash with apparently no interest in helping the next customers. Waited way too long and then finally walked out. So did the guy behind me. service and cleanliness were top notch. we got a box of 6+1. id say the actual donut part is not as good as suzie Qs, but these are still some of the best in the city as far as take away donuts go. they are creative and fun, but some are certainly better than others Berliner filling was thick like blueberry jam, which I like. the Fritter was almost crispy, heavily fried, so id receommend it to those that are looking for a 'fried dough' taste, reminds me of fair food. the cookies and cream as well as the peanut butter filling in the choc peanut butter taste like cupcake frosting so if you like cupcakes get one of these I personally don't so I found them to be like an overly sweet loblaws version. lemon ricotta was dry banana pie was good, reminded me of a boston cream if it has a "cake" bottom and not yeast. at 3 bucks a pop 2.85 they aren't cheap, or (6for 13 can't remember how much 12 was) but if you are bringing dessert to a party this is a great idea. overall I'd recommend but I wouldn't RAVE read more

Absolutely the best donuts I've ever eaten! They're so fresh and never fail to impress me. I was originally a Suzy Q customer but I decided to give this place a shot. After trying their bacon donut in comparison to Suzy Q's, I'll never go back. The Suzy Q donuts are so cheaply made compared to mavericks donuts. Mavericks loaded my donut with glaze and bacon and I couldn't be more delighted biting into a donut. After this experience I've been going back at least once a week. One day I went in and they had no more maple bacon donuts left and I was a little upset. But the manager came in and made a fresh one just for me. Excellent costumer service, mostly teenagers working whenever I go in and they always greet me with a lovely smile. Very helpful staff when getting information on the donuts and recommending donuts. I went to this place a couple of times and was overall unimpressed. There was no real display for the pre-made donuts, so I couldn't see what I was purchasing. I ordered a wake and bacon and a creme brulee. When I got home and opened the box, the wake and bacon was half the size of the other and tasted dry and almost stale. The flavour of the other was good though. I also pre-ordered and pre-paid for a dozen donuts for a specific time a week in advance so that I could grab it and go in a hurry. When I arrived, they seemed to have lost my order and didn't have the donuts ready, which I understand happens once in a while, but as they made the donuts, the glaze was obviously too warm to put on the donut and ran off the donuts all over the box. They looked like a complete mess. As I looked around, some donuts looked great, while others looked completely awful, which speaks to inconsistency.
