Came back to suttons to eat again since I had a great experience the last time. Unfortunately it was the complete opposite this go around. The server took 5 minutes getting to our table and took our drink and food order immediately. That was the last time our server came back to us. The food runner brought us our food, which at that time we had to ask for some bread as our server never brought us any. He came back with the bread shortly there after but still no server. One of the managers stopped and asked us how our food was, still no server. Our drinks are empty, our plates are almost empty and still our server never came back to us. The lasagna my date had was somewhat chewy on the bottom and hard at times and my dish was ok. After being done with out dinner for almost 10 minutes we had to finally stare down our server to come to our table, she asked if we wanted refills but we just wanted our check, she said she was sorry but to be honest I'm not buying it. Finally found her name was Maria and I only found that out because it was on the receipt since she never introduced herself upon greeting us. She then had someone else come to the table to give us our receipt since I guess she knew we were upset at this point. I don't know if I'll visit again. This was a pretty bad trip read more

This place has shady management and I have witnessed on three different occasions the management team treating their staff poorly. Once, I actually got up and left because it was so jaw dropping. I complimented a server to the on duty manager and his reply was "hmmm...well that's good because she's usually hard to handle." So unprofessional. Also, the food is mediocre at best. I ate at Sutton's after hearing nothing but great reviews from locals. I decided to give the place a chance on May 8, 2016 for a UK college graduation dinner with my family. The wait time wasn't too bad considering the influx of people. The host was extremely friendly. After sitting down with the family and ordering drinks, we decided to let the graduate open his gifts from everyone. Our server Lauren asked us for our orders while my brother was opening his gifts. She seemed rather upset when we asked for a little more time to order, but I decided to give her the benefit of the doubt. We all felt rushed to order and so we did. Our appetizers came and we politely asked Lauren for silverware. About 10 minutes later, she returned to ask for our entree orders but did not return with silverware. My uncle had to search around empty tables for silverware. There weren't enough for everyone so when Lauren returned, I politely asked "Can I please get a silverware?" She replied in a sarcastic tone, "Oh you didn't get any?" She then proceeded to point to my uncle's fork and said "Look! He has an extra one. Why don't you just use one of his?" My uncle felt very uncomfortable as it was his utensil set. Finally she walked over to the table in front of us, grabbed silverware, and slammed it right in front of me. Lauren then put her face about 6 inches in front of mine and asked me "Are you satisfied now?" I felt very uncomfortable from that moment on. After that encounter, Lauren refused to acknowledge me. I asked for a refill more than once and never received one. My brother's girlfriend, on the other hand, was offered refills when her glass was a quarter empty. She was offered at least 4 refills throughout the entire dinner. Overall, the food was stellar. I ordered the spaghetti and meatballs, and the dish was absolutely delicious. Our check total came to be $154. For that price, I would expect much better service. I was extremely disappointed by this visit and will likely never return due to the poor customer service. Our server was extremely unprofessional. I understand that the place may have been a little crowded, but a good server at a nice restaurant should be capable of composing herself when presented with simple requests. I would give this review 1 star for customer service but I decided that the food was worth raising the review rating. I am not a rude person whatsoever. I always, always use manners. I was not rude to Lauren once but she was rude to me the entire time. This was my first and only visit. Our waitress was very nice and efficient. However I had to send my salad back. The hot bacon dressing was cold and when our waitress brought me a new one, it was only slightly warm. My house Chardonnay was $9 which for this type of restaurant was overpriced. This was second visit to Sutton's. My family and I dined there last Tuesday. My bruschetta appetizer was overpowered by the garlic and I did not taste the basil or olive oil. The garlic bread was fine. Tuscan rib-eye rare but it was far from rare. It was a thin cut so it was almost well done. My baked potato was luke warm and barely melted the butter. The other diners made no comments either way about their entrees. My husband did not finish his fried shrimp dish. I guess we should have stuck with pasta. I just went there this evening, and am writing this review before I even finish my food. I work near this restaurant. We often order as a group, or when we have VIPs from around the world come in we take them out to eat. I was pleasantly surprised by my first experience. A co-worker and myself chose to call in an order for carry-out, and I will admit I was a little nervous with the time frame given to me. Fifteen minutes... Makes me thing fazolis or something if the food is going to come out that quick. Wow, was I surprised. When I got there, the wait staff were kind and speedy. The food was fresh and delicious. If there are any complaints I could make they are minor, but I will address them anyhow. With a restaurant as pricey (well worth the price, btw) you would think they could give better plastic utensils when you get an order to go. I was not able to eat my chicken alfredo with the fork they provided. You also have to pick up your to go orders at the bar, something that likely isn't an issue on most nights. They were a little busy tonight, though, since there was a game being aired, so things were a little crowded. I could see things getting really packed there depending on the night, so maybe a dedicated area, when things are busy, for people to pick up their to go orders. Aside from that, will certainly eat there again. read more

This was our first time at Sutton's. Our waiter did a great job. I had the chicken Marsala which was very good. We were sitting inside and during are dinner we spent the whole time swatting at flies. I ended up having our dinner put in a box to go. The only other item was the table and chairs could be updated. read more

My daughter wanted to eat at Texas Roadhouse on Sunday June 3, 2018. It was packed. I suggested Suttons because I had eaten there before and knew we could count on a quality meal. I have to say, diappointment doesn't begin to describe the experience. My daughter ordered her usual chicken tenders and fries, lemonade. I ordered the Italian Meatloaf, lemonade. 1st neither of us cared for the lemonade, I switched to Pepsi. The meatloaf, it was barely warm but I thought just go,with it. About the 4th forkful I got a mouthful of what tasted like cold rancid lard. I almost threw it up. I forced myself to swallow it and told the waitress I couldn't eat it. She offered to bring something else. I chose flat iron steak, broccoli and mushrooms.. The steak was tender, cooked medium well as I asked but nothing had flavor. After a couple bites I asked for a to go box. Just not what I'm used to at this establishment. A family member wanted to go there on her next visit but I can't if this is the standard. read more

So a friend invited me to lunch the other day, and he chose this place. The place was only 1/4 full so seating and service was prompt. They have these nice lunch specials, so I went with the half pizza and salad. Nothing extraordinary - just solid if unspectacular food. Pizza was on flatbread. A friend and I ate there last night. I was about 8pm and they were not crowded at all. We were seated quickly and immediately received our drinks. My friend had a seasonal beer and I had sweet iced tea. The tea was perfect not too sweet which is often the case and a good strength not the watered down version. We both looked at the menu for a long time. Nothing appealed to either of us. Our server was very personable and helpful. Upon his suggestion I got their "magical" lasagna. The only thing "magical" was is was 3 noodles one on the bottom, middle, and top. There was what appeared to be flavorless ground beef between each noodle. If you tasted the meat alone it had no flavor at all but the dish did have some garlic taste which I attribute to maybe garlic salt sprinkled on top. On top of the square of lasagna was a ladle of marinara sauce with something white drizzled on the top. Sprinkled on top was what I thought was going to be basil but turned out to be parsley. Even though the menu description said there were two kinds of cheeses in the lasagna there was no evidence there was any at all until some was grated on top. Kathy had a chicken pesto dish but couldn't really tell there was any pesto sauce on it however it did have a very generous portion of garlic. I, who do not like pesto, couldn't taste any pesto either. Both meals were greatly disappointing. Including tip my dinner was $20 and Kathy's which included the beer was $27. read more

My husband and I love Sutton's and eat there 3 times a month or more. We love it so much we decided to have our wedding reception there on May 31. We had a small, family friendly wedding, and Sutton's was the perfect place to celebrate. We had the reception on the uncovered part of the back patio. We served stuffed mushrooms, meatballs, and cheese platters as the appetizers. All were wonderful and enjoyed by our guests. We had lovely chicken Caesar and house salads next. Our main course selections, served buffet style, included my husband's favorite, penne alla vodka, my favorite, spaghetti and meatballs, and my dad's favorite, penne rustica. We also served chicken Marsala. The food came out piping hot and delicious. Our guests loved getting to sample all our favorites. Although we had wedding cake, I wanted to serve my favorite dessert in the whole world, Sutton's bread pudding and ice cream. Not a drop was left. If you haven't tried the bread pudding, you are missing out. It's the best I've ever had. We served some lovely wines with dinner. Gordon and his staff were fabulous and attentive and we enjoyed every minute. The food was amazing. The band he chose to play was awesome. Our families and friends had a wonderful time. Not sure why we waited so long to go to Suttons but we finally did today and I was pleasantly surprised. Our server, Christin I believe, made sure our drinks were always full and answered any questions we had. I recommend getting the Mussels for appetizers, they were phenomenal. The dinner portions are huge so plan accordingly. The tiramisu for dessert is great as well. The decor was simple but they have ample seating (indoor and outdoor) and it feels very homey. The manager on duty was very friendly and they have ample parking in the front. For around $60 + tip for 2 people (two appetizers, 2 entrees, dessert, & drinks) I was very pleased and will be returning with friends and family. read more

Sutton's did an excellent job in accommodating our girls' soccer team last evening. We were a party of 31 who walked in during prime dinner hour and the owner and staff worked diligently to insure a great experience! The food was excellent (not out of box or pre-frozen)! And the staff members were very attentive. After ordering, our dinners arrived in only minutes and hot. If you haven't tried this family owned and managed restaurant in Lexington, you should. Friend and I split an entrée, and there was no plate charge for us to split the meal -- as some other restaurants do. The food was excellent and the waitress was very attentive. I went to this restaurant to celebrate my Birthday with about 15 people. I can say that the reviews that I had looked at on line were nothing but good. But at the restaurant that was totally different! We had to wait about two hours for our food and the food was cold! I got the Chicken Pesto and it was horrible!! The waiter mixed the orders up and we had to get the Assistant Manager to come out and re-do the tickets which by the way they still did not get right! The whole time it felt like it was a problem to get them to just fix it. We had to ask another waiter for plates and other things like bread. Did not see the Manager at all during the time that we tried to get our food. I will never go back to this place!! read more

I went there a week ago. I ordered the chicken parmasan. The food was good. The service was great. I sat on the inside. I don't like the idea of looking at gangsters while I eat. The place I sat literally had pictures of gangsters and it looked as if they were lookig at you while you eat. That wasn't even the bad part.While I was eating, I heard my waitress getting yelled at by a guy in a blue shirt. I am assuming that was a manager. I wish guys wouldn't yell at women, it just shows what pigs they are and doesn't show any manhood or chivalry. First visit as we were passing through Lexington. Mr. David suggested we try the pork shank. YUMMY!!!!! Once you start, you can't stop eating until every scrumptious bite is gone. The food was excellent. We were a party of four, celebrating my son's birthday. He wanted to give Suttons a try. He ordered the Italian Stallion and a loaded baked potato. He loved it. I can't remember what his girlfriend ordered, but she kept saying it was really good. My husband and I ordered the lasagna and it was very good. The bottom part of the pasta was a little stiff towards the middle, but the dish had great flavor. We shared the three sample appetizer and it was very delicious. The wheat bread was EXCELLANT. So, we really enjoyed the food, but I must tell you the very best part of our time at Suttons was having Danielle as our server. There are not enough words to tell you how much we loved her company and her service. She was AWESOME. She would visit with us when she had the time. My husband is a big comic and she and he just kept us all laughing. I wish I had had more money to give to her for her tip because she MADE our trip to Suttons memorable. We won't be forgetting her.
