She got at the clinic before her staff and greeted me as enthusiastically as a great receptionist would do. Walked me through all the paperwork and conducted me to the exam room herself (right after her receptionist have arrived). She is very warm and knowledgeable. I moved to Boston from Brazil and was confused about why eye / contact lenses exams are billed separately in the US. Since the next client had cancelled (because the after storm hurdles), she took her time to explain everything, answering patiently and happily to all my questions. When I left, her receptionist helped filling a check because my pupils were dilated. She was as nice and warm as Dr. Chang (next time I'll make sure to learn her name). I'm very happy to have found the eye doctor I hope to see (!) for the rest of my life. Not enough words to recommend her and her practice!!!

I came in early and he took me well before my 7:30AM appointment. all the staff members were decent, and the office itself was clean and bright, though the magazine selection left room for improvement. I thought it was kind of strange that Dr. Tran put the dialating drops in my eyes and then asked me to go out and sit in the bright "secondary waiting area". there were literally no other paitents in the building, could i not have just stayed in the darkened exam room? anyway, i took the opportunity to wake my mother up and harangue her for passing on astigmatism to my eyeballs and she insisted it was my father's fault (what isn't?). after some witty gilmore girls-esque repartee Dr. Tran called me back in and shined bright lights in my retinas. 25 minutes later, with huge jackie o sunglasses strapped to my face, i stumbled past the front desk where they asked me to pay a copay. i was a little surprised since Tufts told me there was no copay and no referral for an annual exam, so i declined to pay and they were pretty cool about it. the best part was milking the sunglasses until about 11:30AM in my interior no window office. priceless!

But for now, here is that experience: I arrived five minutes early, was greeted professionaly, courteously, and efficently, and given my forms to fill in. My wait in reception was less than ten minutes. In addition to the reception staff, the staff member who took my initial eye measurements was, too. In any case, Dr. Greg Ferrucci is phenomenal and you know fast that he is a real doctor, full on. He asked me the right questions to really learn about my particular eyes both visually and from a pure medical/physical standpoint, and then the first thing he did was find an astigma-related axis difference that apparently will help sharpen my prescription. The best part was when he hooked me up with very comfy disposable contacts for an hour so that I could try on frames and actually see what I was choosing. Literally, this was the first time in my 46 years of wearing glasses that any doctor has offered to help me in this way. It made a huge difference in the ease of picking the right eyeglass frames, and I am looking forward to getting them. On that note, lastly, the opticians there are great.

I have had 4 different incidents with them at the desk. We are a family of 4 that are all patients. We buy all our glasses and contacts through them. They have made a few mistakes long the way but they turn it around and make me feel like I did something wrong. The last incident was deceitful. I didnt want a procedure done. I signed saying that I didn't want it. I was told in the middle of the exam that I qualified for it and it would be free because he saw something on the eyes. I just got a bill for a copayment portion of the test that I was told would be free. They said it was an insurance issue not theirs. They should not be advertising things as free/covered when it isn't. They have an attitude when you ask any questions. Also I was talked down to when I showed up on time for my appointment but was told I was late because I didn't come 15 min early to fill out paperwork (existing patient) that took me 5 min and I waited to be seen for another 15 min. They were actually late!

I saw that Yosemite Eyewear has 5 stars on google and yelp so drove out to Newton Center. Dmitry helped me right away and I told him what happened. He asked if I bought the glasses from him but I didn't. He took my glasses happily and put on a new nose pad in less than 5 minutes, no questions asked! He was extremely helpful. If I have any future issues with my glasses, I'll be sure to come to them.

The interior of the practice itself is decorated with obvious delight and joy, with a clear emphasis on being a safe space for clients. Dr. Ah-Kiné fosters a sense of relaxed competence and straightforward communication that is all too often a rare thing in medical professionals. They explained the procedures as they performed them, gave no judgements or lectures for any information I offered (I'm getting better about sleeping in contacts, I promise), and overall gave me their full attention for the length of my appointment. Mac was similarly a warm and welcoming help in discussing options for contact pricing and glasses, and the front desk staffperson was prompt, friendly, and had truly fantastic eyeliner wings. :) Overall: Gaze is 100% my new go-to eye doctor, no question about it. Dr. puts his patients first and goes out of his way to help them and answer their questions. No question is ever too stupid for him to answer- and he respects the inquiries of all of his patients. I always feel that I have received the right answer when I go to him. He also has a wonderful assistant called Angel - who is appropriately named as she is such a sweet woman! I got there, and I didn't have to wait. Dr. Brodhead did a thorough exam, and there was no crazy airpuff machine! The doctor is really nice and skilled, the office was clean, and even my copay was less than it normally is! Also, my insurance benefit for contacts has run out for the year, but I need more contacts now. I told Dr. Brodhead I'd like to go to Costco because of their prices, and he wrote me a prescription without even trying to force me to buy contacts from him, which is totally unlike my old doctor! I like when there's no pressure and I can choose the retailer of my lenses! I was sort of considering new glasses, because mine are 6 years old, but he doesn't really have a great selection of glasses (but I'm finding a lot of places don't these days). Then again, I wear contacts 365 days a year anyway, so buying new glasses would be kind of silly.
