I felt like I was chillin in little town pub in Japan. Playing soulful jazz and Japanese funk jams. Stuffing there Mentataiko fries and trying all their Yakitoris. Goes great with some great beers. If you're in the neighborhood please drop by.

I had very high expectations for this place. So much so last time we tried to come here the line was so long that we couldn't even get a table. This time we were able to get seated within 10 minutes which was great. The ambience is really fun however I was expecting a little more from the food. everything was tasty and had some great flavors, but nothing really blew me away or stood out. Our waiter disappeared a few times too. I think we were ready to pay the bill and it felt like it took a long time to finally pay. Felt like maybe this is the way the restaurant creates FOMO maybe? When we got up to leave there was a really big line of people waiting outside. Cheers.

Beef tongue and beef tenderloin yakitori

I'm here this week for 4 nights for a conference and I literally came to Susuru for 3 nights coz their food is just pretty amazing! So second night I got a bowl of tonkotsu ramen with black garlic oil and it was 10/10. The broth was creamy, pork flavor was spot on, the egg was done perfectly (which I'm very particular) and the chashu was delish. I wish I added extra chashu coz it was packed with umami flavor. I also ordered the beef tongue and beef tenderloin and both were nice done, tender, well seasoned and good size for a yakitori. This place definitely knows how to make authentic Japanese street food. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!!!

After a long Disney day, I had one mission: find great yakitori. Susuru kept popping up with glowing reviews, and being one of the closest spots to the parks, it seemed like the obvious choice. Judging by the line that had already formed 15 minutes before they even unlocked the doors, I wasn't the only one with that idea. The moment you walk in, it feels like you've stumbled into a tiny neighborhood izakaya in Tokyo. Paper lanterns, Japanese signs covering the walls, colorful vintage décor, wooden stools that politely remind you to finish eating instead of lingering for three hours--it all adds to the charm. It's casual, lively, and full of personality. The menu has plenty to explore, but I came for the yakitori. Since everything is ordered à la carte, I built my own assortment of skewers, and every single one was grilled beautifully over charcoal. The meats were juicy, the vegetables had that perfect smoky char, and the chimichurri-style dipping sauce they served alongside was something I found myself dipping absolutely everything into. Yes, ordering several skewers can add up faster than your Lightning Lane budget, but the quality absolutely justifies it. Sometimes simple food, done exceptionally well, is worth every penny. If you're near Disney and craving authentic Japanese comfort food instead of another theme park burger, put Susuru on your list. Just do yourself a favor and arrive early... unless standing in line is your favorite Disney ride. 5/5 - I'll happily be back for another round of skewers.

Susuru has such a fun, nostalgic vibe and the food was excellent from start to finish. We started with the chicken karaage and mentai fries and both were delicious. Everyone ordered a different ramen including the Tori Paitan, Mi So Hot, and Black Tonkotsu. Each one had great flavor and depth. The portions were generous and the meal was super reasonable price wise. Louie was attentive throughout and made the experience even better. We were there at about 5:10. We read they did not take reservations and seated on a first come first serve basis. The restaurant opened at 5 and was filling up fast. It was not long after we seated that there were folks waiting for seats. A fantastic spot all around.

5/5 Stars -- Outstanding late-night dinner! Susuru delivered another incredible experience on our second visit! We came in for a late dinner around 9:00 PM and were pleasantly surprised--the initial 30-minute estimated wait turned into getting seated in just 10 to 15 minutes. Service was top-notch from start to finish, and the food was simply delicious. Everything was cooked to perfection with so much depth and flavor in every single bite. We kicked off the meal with an appetizer spread of Chicken Karaage, Truffle Sesame Tuna, and Tempura Fried King Oyster Mushrooms--all executed wonderfully. For my main, I went with the Susuru Chashu Gohan mini bowl along with the Short Ribs and Skirt Steak. For me, it was the absolute ideal balance of protein and carbs, and every piece of meat was insanely flavorful. You cannot leave without dessert: the Matcha Tiramisu. Wow. Rich, decadent, and genuinely one of the best and most unique tiramisus I've ever tasted. Make sure you leave room to end your meal with it! The rest of my family loved their meals just as much. We first came here a few years ago and knew we had to make it back on this trip. Susuru remains a MUST-visit in Orlando!

Wagyu Don with a pork belly skewer

Tried this place after hearing so much about it on socials. Pulled up and there was a small line waiting for it to open. Really cool place with an open atmosphere. Kitchen is also open with a bar that looks directly into the kitchen as you dine. Drinks are simple. Plum wine, Japanese whisky options, beer, and soft drinks. Also a few mixed drinks, but again nothing crazy or exciting. Food was fresh and pretty good. The tuna sashimi appetizer was fantastic! The sauce is like a yum-yum and black sesame blend. Incredible. The bowl was wayyyyyy too sweet for me. Too much of the sauce. But the rice and chicken were pretty good. The pork belly is grilled and not seasoned much. So added it to the bowl to calm the sweet and it worked well. Overall, this place isn't worth queuing for, but still pretty good considering its location. Solid 6/10 for me.

Hamachi Kama

We visited here during our trip to Orlando. We had to wait for a table, but we could tell it was worth it. We enjoyed the Mi-So-Hot Ramen, Hamachi Kama, Gyoza with Wings, Chicken Karaage and an assortment of the skewers. Out of the skewers the Momo & Pork Belly were my favorites. Everything was delicious we actually had to order more! Our server made great recommendations and was friendly and attentive. I highly recommend this spot for a flavorful and fun dinner. The interior was decorated super fun as well.

Chicken breast with wasabi - 4.60

I got so lucky again. I wanted to do on a Saturday night. I arrived around 730ish, and got lucky to find parking. When I arrived, I was told there was a bar seating in 10 minutes, which I took. I scanned the menu and had to have the old fashioned again (12 dollars). It was a great deal as it was boozy for me to stay happy for a while. For dinner, I splurged with the miso lamb (26 dollars) and chicken breast and thigh skewers (4.6 dollars each). All the meats were perfectly grilled and tender. The miso paste was perfect with the lamb, and the chimichurri sauce made it more flavorful. There were micro greens and potatoes for the vegetables. The wasabi topping on the chicken was very nice and brought the kick needed. I don't know if it was real wasabi, but it was still good. For dessert, the matcha tiramisu (8 dollars) was earthy and light, and the green tea was a nice gesture. The service was attentive and nice. My bartender made a great drink and the whole staff took great care of us. The vibe is still very nice, with lots of Japanese nostalgia displayed. The bar area has a nice open kitchen to watch the action as well. Music looks to be Japanese pop or anime. Parking can be difficult, and the wait times can get long, so bring your patience as it is well worth it! This is still a wonderful Japanese restaurant for bar food. No wonder it still gets crowded, especially on a Saturday night. I really need to visit their sister restaurant, Juju, as well. They are a similar concept with excellent food and drinks too! Overall: A

Our favorite spot to celebrate all occasions! Food brings us back to Japan! Ambiance is retro /izakaya. You have to try their seasonal specials as well! Never disappoints. We LOVE the beef tongue. So tender, probably the best beef tongue we've ever had in the nation. The dessert never disappoints. A perfect ending to a wonderful meal. Kurobata sausage: delicious and cute! This is what high quality ingredients get you!

Michael M.

What an amazing little hole in the wall! This is an Izakaya style eatery and they totally nailed the perfect vibe. From the decor, to the seats at the bar watching our food made, to the amazing tasty food at great prices, I wish I lived near here because this would be a regular hangout. We tried regular menu items, specials, themed cocktails, the whole bit, and absolutely everything was spot on! Service was super friendly, and it seemed everything was made to order. I loved everything about this place!

Skirt steak
Sophia A.

The place doesn't take reservations so expect to wait. We waited about 30 minutes for seats at the bar. The interior looks beautiful and really replicates Japanese art, culture, etc nicely. The service was decently fast as well as they gave us one plate at a time. The drink was tasty and you can definitely taste the alcohol in it. I personally enjoyed the Godzilla toy on it and they have a few alternations of it. The gyoza was probably the best item my girlfriend and I had as the chicken dumplings underneath were delicious. The skirt steak was tender and had a nice sauce on it too. The chicken karaage was our least favorite just because there wasn't much taste to it. It came with a sort of mayo dip, and it was fried nicely.

tonkotsu
Malai B.

The tantan ramen had a mild peanut and sesame flavor which was just satisfying enough! The tonkotsu ramen's broth was simple and the noodles were good. The cow tongue and chicken thigh yakitori were 10/10. The service was very friendly and attentive would recommend for a welcoming and fun atmosphere. The inside was very lively and had retro Japanese decor. There were also lots of unique cocktail options available.

Vegan options for non fish eaters?

Yes there were several vegetarian/vegan options. I tried a few and they were quite delicious.

Are you open on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day?

Do they do takeout?

No they do not.

Do they have high chairs?

They do! By the bar area.

Do they take reservations?

They didn't use to, but they do take your name and you can see where you are on a website

Do you accept reservation for large group?

Do you still have happy hour?

No happy hour from what I have seen from the original menus.

Gluten free options or menu?

Yes. and they have Tamari Soy sauce. Just some items may not be available, depending on if prefabbed or not. Just ask your server. At the event I went to, one of my tablemates was Gluten free and they were able to accommodate her.

Are they Pet friendly?

only service animals

Are there vegetarian options? Question answered! They have vegan ramen that isn't on the menu! We ordered ramen and skewers, lotus chips, radish salad w/out fish/meat. Just ask! Cool space, cool staff. Will be back w/veg + carnivore friends!

Some of my friends ordered vegetarian ramen before (by request). They said the vegan ramen tasted really good.

Do they take reservations?

We do not take reservations. I recommend calling ahead for estimated wait times!

I began the evening with one of their hot-tasting items, the Wagyu Gyoza. It was so nicely flavored, with great texture. This could either be a shareable item or enjoyed alone. We also ordered the Negima (chicken breast) and the Spicy Argentinian Red Shrimp. I would order both items again. The chicken was moist and the shrimp was spicier than I expected, but oh so good! For our main entrees, I ordered the Miso Black Cod, and my husband had the Kyoto Paitan Ramen. The Ramen was well-seasoned, and the Cod was delicately plated, with crisp capers that added a layer of flavor. The House Strawberry Lemonade was refreshing, and the Okinawa Breeze was lightly sweet and colorful. It will be one of the most memorable cocktails I've had because of its presentation and taste. We ended the night with the Woo Baby (Ube Cheesecake) and the Yuzu Delight (Yuzu Cheesecake). The yuzu was tart and the ube was light and creamy. Both are outstanding dessert options. The entire night flowed effortlessly, thanks to our server Miguel. He was so organized in his approach and was so kind and funny. His presence was greatly welcomed and appreciated. If you have any celebration coming up or just want a lovely evening out, this is the place.

I just happened to stop in, and after coming back again much later, I'm happy to say the food and service are still just as impressive as I remembered. The whole ordering system is really efficient. You can order directly through the bartender or server, and they'll give you a table number afterward. Finding a table can be a little tricky when it's busy, but don't be shy about asking if you notice someone getting ready to leave. The space is dimly lit, relaxing, and has plenty of seating, so it's a great place to hang out and enjoy a few drinks. The drinks are definitely a highlight for me. I always tell the bartenders what kind of flavor profile I'm in the mood for and let them recommend something, and they've hit the mark every single time. They're great at understanding what you're looking for, even when you don't know exactly what you want. Food-wise, the skewers are a must. They have a really nice char on the outside, and the dipping sauce adds even more flavor. The crab fried rice is another favorite--the portion is generous for the price, and it's flavorful enough to stand on its own or share with the table. What I really appreciate is that the quality has stayed consistent between visits. Great food, creative drinks, efficient service, and a relaxed atmosphere make this a place I'll definitely continue coming back to.

I arrived around 430 and waited till they opened at 5. There were several others as well, waiting for the doors to open. Our party of five found one of this tables at the end which is shaped like a large D letter, weird sitting but the only other better seats were outside and I am not breathing in exhaust fumes of Mills as we eat. There is a small sheet of paper with the food items, no prices listed and you need to open a tab at the bar to place your orders. You also need to get your drinks from the bar but they do serve you the tapas style food. It's all small items, three or four smallish items per plate and in varying prices, not listed anywhere but online on their site. I ordered the crab and corn croquetas ($9.5), crab rice ($11), mushrooms in soy sauce ($7), beef with chimichurri ($7.5) and a soda ($3.5). The crab and corn croquetas are a good sized portion, coming in three balls with a tender inside full of tasty corn pieces and crab. The sauce they come with also delivers on making them stand out. The crab rice was a good sized scoop and you could taste the freshness of it all, use the small slice of lemon to give it a tiny extra kick. The mushrooms in soy sauce were absolutely rocking on the taste buds with the umami really strong but so tasty. I ate half of the plate and brought the rest for snacking on tomorrow. Yay The beef with chimichurri was about 3 ounces worth of beef and sliced into four really small bites. A bit pricey for what you're given. My friend ordered the pork belly which was the same size and had a lovely taste to it. She also ordered the gyoza which came with five small pieces and those were tasty. The servers were super quick in bringing out the plates and due to the smallish sized table, it got overwhelming a bit quickly and we had to shuffle stuff around but since the meals are smallish, you do eat pretty quickly too. You have to be there early or else the seating is a roll of the dice, as soon as we began to leave, someone scooped in to grab the table. One poor guy was with his lady at the bar, she was seated but he didn't have one for him so he was standing beside her. The parking is shared with the other restaurant beside it and there are signs about paying parking... but I think that's only for certain hours?

I took a special cocktail that I forgot the name, but it was made with rice vodka. It was a sweet and fruity cocktail, and the booze feeling came afterwards. Pretty good for 16 bucks. The magical dining came with four courses. I wanted to try the seaweed salad for my first course, which was marinated nicely in soy sauce. It looked like noodles, but had a nice small crunch after every bite. My second course was nigiri sushi, which included salmon, tuna, and yellowtail. All of them were nice and fresh, and most of them melted in my mouth as well. Adding the house made soy sauce added the umami needed. The third course was the volcano roll, which was hemachi, bacon, jalapeno, and avocado in the bottom, with scallops and imitation crab on top. It was very enjoyable, especially the scallops and fish. The food was quite filling as well. Thankfully I still had room for dessert, and the ube flan was sinfully good. It tasted like an authentic flan with the ube fusion. It was better than the flan at some Mexican restaurants. The service was professional and more attentive than the last time I visited. It was pretty quick as well. The vibe still look chic and upscale. Definitely worthy of the three diamonds it got from AAA. Parking is still free and easy at the complex. Outdoor seating was available and has great views of the fountains. I am so happy that I finally got an excellent magical dining experience for 2026. I guess third time was the charm. Dragonfly had great quality of food and it was quite filling too. And it is still 40 dollars for magical dining, making this a great deal. This is definitely still a great upscale sushi restaurant in the Dr. Phillips area. Overall: A

My favs from here are the sake blossom (drink on the left), the miso soup without mushrooms, and those perfect cinnamon mochi donuts. I tried the magical dining they offer and man was I so full afterwards.

Saying this place is a hidden gem is an understatement. It's hands down the most underrated unknown…read moresecret sushi place in Orlando by the parks that is authentic, cheap, delicious and attended by locals! It's near the parks but out of the way and hidden enough that unless you somehow discovered this gem, you'd have no idea it was there. I genuinely believe that's this places advantage, as there's minimal seating and a very intimate and kind environment. Staff can really focus on you, get to know you and spoil you to bits. We went during a Saturday lunch 12pm and it was mostly full but quiet and relaxing. Everyone was super kind and accommodating, and they even filled up my husband's water bottle for him with filtered water as she knew we were going back to the parks. Plus... there's a bidet in the bathroom if that's your style ~ Now as for what we ordered, we actually opted to try some al a cart favorites where you check what you would like with a pen. We got some fantastic Salmon and Tuna Nigiri and Rolls and adored their home made from scratch pan seared pot stickers, a must try!! Stop by if you love the best of the best for a great price! Make sure to keep this place as our secret, but not too secret hahah ;)
