I dashed in here after having lunch across the street and was carried away by the cupcakes. The bakery is unique from other bakeries that I've visited. The bakery is bright with light and cupcakes seemed to be the only hint of color. So naturally, my eyes were drawn to them. I ordered the coconut, lemon, strawberry, mint, mocha, and blueberry pancake flavored cupcakes. The frosting is indulgent and the cake quite delicious. I might be the only person that comes here for cookies only. I actually like the chocolate chip cookie. Its a little salty, and not overly sweet. I got 4 Togo. I felt like 4 might not have been enough. I haven't their the cupcakes but they look like they are on the extra sweet side. Small clean place. I dint think there is a dine in spot at least I don't remember seeing any chairs but I was just in and out and not thinking about sitting so who knows. Maybe I missed it. My daughter wanted to try 5 Pot this past Sunday, but they weren't open until 11:30 AM. Instead of sitting at the bench that's in front of the restaurant for 30 mins, we took a stroll down to Susie Cakes. I have been wanting to try them based on my co-worker's recommendation. From the outside, it's kind of plain Jane IMHO, but once you walk in, it's bright, clean, organized with a wonderful sparkly & light turquoise teal decor. So pretty and cool! I love it! Good open space, too. They bake their cakes and baked goods in-house. Yes, they have their very own private kitchen in the back. You can actually take a peak through the window. They also have some nifty merchandise for sale. Great selection of cakes and simple cupcake choices to pick from. They showcase their sliced up cakes on top of the glass case which is nice so their customers can see what the cakes look like inside. You can see the many layers of cake. Yes, they sell their cakes by the slice so you can try them out before forking out the money for a whole cake LOL. Per cake slice price ranges from $7.75 and up. Whole cake price ranges from $44.00 and up. Their prices are on the higher end, but delicious and tasty baked goods made from simple and honest ingredients come with a price and that's okay. It's worth it! As Susie says, Enjoy! I second that!!! We ended up getting 1 slice of carrot cake and 3 cupcakes - 1 chocolate vanilla, 1 red velvet, 1 pumpkin. I really like the carrot cake... huge slice, not too sweet, love the shredded carrot inside, yummy cream cheese frosting! All cupcakes were very good... light, moist, and tasty, love the cream cheese frosting... except for the pumpkin... dry and dense unfortunately. Staff was nice and pleasant. Ambiance is just delightful. Location is perfect right on Lake Ave. Pay parking is available on the street or in the back parking lot. Happy National Chocolate Cupcake Day (10/18/23)!! I've had Susie Cakes on my local list for ages and used this fun day as an excuse to finally see what all the hype is about and wow!! I have to say - these are the BEST cupcakes I've had in a good long while! Soft, moist and so flavorful! Staff are super friendly, lots of treat variety, great location - I'll definitely be back! In addition to all the cupcake varieties, they offer cakes, cookies, and more. And they even make Whoopie Pies seasonally a few times a year - which is one of my absolute FAVE desserts ever from the East Coast - I'll be keeping my eye out for these for sure bc they're impossible to find out here on the West Coast. I came in specifically for chocolate cupcakes and got lucky with some delicious treats decorated for Halloween haha! I also got a coconut flavor and a pumpkin maple flavor bc it came highly recommended by the staff and it did not disappoint. Everything we tried had perfect cupcake texture and the flavors were excellent. The shop is incredibly clean with lots of fun decor and photo ops and interesting info. They have a huge window section looking into the kitchen where you can watch the pro bakers at work - so fun! All the staff I interacted with were jovial and very happy to be there - made my visit so pleasant. There's a front entrance with street parking and a back entrance off Shoppers Lane with a large parking lot - but the spaces have time limits so be aware of the signs. Susie Cakes is a dessert destination that I was curious to arrive at. I have seen people bring Susie Cakes to celebrate their birthday. The location has plenty of space, clean, and most importantly, strong AC. They also have a glass window to peer into the bakery where the magic happens. I got Cakes by the Slice since Cake is in the name. The cashier was super friendly and helpful. I asked her about popular flavors and she informed me that there are some flavors that are not in cupcake form, so I opted for the Carrot and the Marble. The Carrot Cake was moist and real carrots are used. The icing was not too overwhelming sweet. The only issue I had was the temperature of the cake and it may have to do with the weather. When I forked it, it was room temp and was not as moist as the other reviews suggested. The Marble Cake had chocolate chip pieces in it. The cake was not moist, but it may have to do with the temperature. I popped both of my half eaten cake slices in the fridge. At around $8 dollars a slice, the cakes are a treat. read more

I stopped by here to pick up some Mother's Day cupcakes. It was fun to walk down the hallway to watch the decorators at work in the kitchen through the glass windows. Since I never tried cupcakes from here, I ordered 6 cupcakes in a variety of flavors to sample. I couldn't find any prices anywhere in the store so I listed them for you: Red Velvet - $4.25 Lemon - $4.25 Chocolate Vanilla - $4.25 Coconut - $4.25 Flourless Chocolate - $4.75 Strawberry Rose - $4.75 I came home and opened the box to find a bonus "Mom" red velvet cupcake. What a special surprise, thank you SusieCakes! OK, back to the cupcakes. I sampled them all and they were all moist and flavorful, even the flourless chocolate! Personally, I really enjoyed the Strawberry Rose flavor best as it has bits of strawberry in it! The coconut one was also really yummy, it was a bit denser than the other ones, maybe they mix in coconut in there?When I cut into the cupcakes, I found that they poke frosting into the center of the cupcake before they top it, so it's a bit sweeter than I like, but it's ok, I can always scrape off what frosting I don't want. They also sell cookies and dessert bars, whole cakes, and cakes by the slice. Next time I'm in the area, I'm definitely going stop by again to try a slice of their carrot cake, it looked amazing! read more

The store has both street parking and a lot in the back. Lots of parking. First time here so asked for a recommendation. One was the summer berry cake. It was a summer berry bowl which they said has the cake inside. Gave that a try along with a slice of key lime pie. Great thing here is that you're able to buy slices and not necessarily the whole pie or cake. Great for tastings. Loved the pie. The summer berry bowl was a bit too mushy for my taste. They are super sweet and gave my daughter a mini cupcake. I did taste that and was moist and tasty. Next time I would like to try their sliced cake or cupcakes. Okay so let me start by saying the chocolate frosting marble cake we got was really good! Until I found the piece of metal in it when it stabbed the roof of my mouth.... I called in the piece of metal I found and they did sound apologetic and refunded my cake for me but that was it. I offered to bring it in so they can try and see where it maybe came from so they can avoid future mishaps but they didn't seem interested in that. I also expected maybe a gift card or something for future orders but nada. Overall when I picked up the cake the service wasn't so great but could be because of the holiday traffic, the location parking sucked terribly but again not really their fault but the actual store itself was very clean and well kept. I think if I didn't find metal in my cake, which I can't imagine is a common occurrence, I'd be rating it 4-5 stars. Unfortunately with how it was handled and the fact I found it I gotta give them 2.
