Tea, water and menus were brought to the table promptly. Our server was very pleasant and took very good care of us. I ordered tempura udon and my husband had the tempura appetizer. Both of our meals were very good. I liked the broth in the udon. It was very flavourful. The tempura came on the side and consisted of 3 good sized shrimp, potato, carrot and acorn squash. Our server topped up our tea and water and checked on us to ensure that we had everything we required. Considering the quality of the food, service and portion sizes the prices were very reasonable. When we left even the chef at the back called out and thanked us for our business. I have no hesitation in recommending Sui Sha Ya.

The donburi was terrific; the chicken was crispy and savoury, the rice was admirably good and the teriyaki sauce was potent in sweet flavour and help tied everything together. The house special was spectacular, it had everything you wanted in sushi, literally rolled into one. The miso soup that came with the entrees was a soothing side to have. The service was great. The staff was courteous and very quick when they came with my food in what felt like minutes after I ordered. The restaurant's ambiance was quite calming and like some of the décor such as the potted plants and the cat banners. Overall, this is a great Japanese restaurant and would very much like to come back there soon. My only regret is that I did not go there sooner.

The teriyaki looked burnt but actually tasted old and over marinated. The tempura seemed over cooked or old veg too. The rolls were not rolled well and tasted ok at best. Despite how busy it was when I came to eat and the waiter pointing out the extended time for the food, the service was really great and I did not find myself waiting long at all. I had the Tuna Avocado Roll which was fantastic with how fresh and tasty the contents were. I even thought the miso soup was exceptionally great, and even finished the cup with my meal. I also had the Unagi Donburi for my main course, and it was perfection. The unagi meat was piquant and succulent, the rice was great, and I even like the mango pieces it came with. The service was very considerate, especially during the busy haul. The waiter served me whenever I needed it and even replaced my chopsticks when I dropped one of them. The interior design of the restaurant is memorable; it had blossoms hung up and TVs playing Jpop music videos. I highly recommend Kojan for the great Sushi and Korean food.

They had a few issues in their food. The tamago nigiri was tasty enough, and I've never had to say this before, but there wasn't enough rice! The tamago flopped over on all sides, and needed more rice as a texture and flavor break. The Unagi bowl itself was okay, good amount of rice and veggies for the cost, but the eel itself was slimy and rubbery. I know from experience this isn't what it is supposed to be like. The inside is cute, it's a shame everything was put away for COVID, but it's also a shame they aren't following COVID rules either. Two customers without masks, whom the employees were quite familiar and friendly with, which didn't exactly improve my overall review of the restaurant.

The menu was very extensive and the names of the special rolls were hilarious. I saw a sushi lasagna and wanted to try it, However, after ordering a bunch of food, they missed the lasagna roll but good thing as the three of us were completely stuffed! Ordered salmon teriyaki combo that came with soup, salad, tempura, dynamite roll for $27 and then a bunch of rolls. Love love roll, chop scallop roll, tuna roll. Pork gyoza, sockeye salmon sashimi and mixed tempura to make it a full meal! The highlights were the salmon sashimi - cold, fresh and a nice firm bite! I could've eaten all 8 pieces but had to share with the other 2. The tempura was quite good - batter was still nice and crispy the entire time we ate the other stuff just wished there were more different veggies since it was mainly yam, sweet potato and pumpkin as well as the prawn tempura and 2 broccoli pieces. ( carrot or even zucchini would've been nice). The love love roll was pretty good and so was the sunomo salad as it was quite refreshing - just needed less noodles and more cucumber. Hubby liked the gyoza but I thought the filling was stingy on the pork and the cabbage ( hard to tell) was just mush. The teriyaki salmon was well done - soft texture and not overcooked at all. the chop scallop roll had a weird white sauce on it and didn't add to it like tobiko would. Service was decent enough, and our food came out quickly. They did forget my order of the sushi lasagna but it was good they did and while they offered to make it for us, we were all extremely full. They checked on us a few times and overall it was a good experience and now I have to check out the sushi lasagne next time.

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE TODAY!…read more I went there for lunch, initially with low expectations but hoping the food and experience was good...and boy was I disappointed. When I ordered my food, the waiter came out with a completely different meal and would NOT offer to bring the meal back and get me my correct meal. The meal was not even remotely close to what I ordered and instead, he said "oh, but this meal is a dollar cheaper...." as if the price is what I was most concerned with? After I was forced to keep my meal at the end of my experience I asked him to box up the remaining half of my meal and he said okay. He came back over with the bills, and I asked him if he was going to bring my food back in a box and he literally told me he threw it out!! He threw out HALF MY MEAL! After this he did not offer to reimburse me, he did not offer to correct it, he offered NO HELP OR SUPPORT. I even called the restaurant later in the day to speak to a manager about it and the female manager said this was the first she was hearing of the experience....meaning he hid this from her. After speaking to the manager she did not offer to correct this horrible experience either. Absolute worst experience I have ever had at any restaurant in my life.
