I have been to Kojan before, and I have never recalled having a bad experience from this restaurant. Despite how busy it was when I came to eat and the waiter pointing out the extended time for the food, the service was really great and I did not find myself waiting long at all. I had the Tuna Avocado Roll which was fantastic with how fresh and tasty the contents were. I even thought the miso soup was exceptionally great, and even finished the cup with my meal. I also had the Unagi Donburi for my main course, and it was perfection. The unagi meat was piquant and succulent, the rice was great, and I even like the mango pieces it came with. The service was very considerate, especially during the busy haul. The waiter served me whenever I needed it and even replaced my chopsticks when I dropped one of them. The interior design of the restaurant is memorable; it had blossoms hung up and TVs playing Jpop music videos. I highly recommend Kojan for the great Sushi and Korean food. read more

We were on our way home and decided to stop by this restaurant for dinner. We were seated right away. Menus and water were dropped off. We decided to order a number of items to try. Food arrived very quickly. My child ate all the gyoza so it must have tasted alright. The crunch double scallop roll was quite tasty. It was loaded with fried scallops. The roll itself had scallops, crab meat, avocado and cucumber. The assorted sashimi was fresh and had a good variety. The aburi nigiri were also made well and were nicely torched. Kojan sushi is my go to in Abbotsford. I've never had a bad experience, always speedy service and really nice staff. I've eaten in and got takeout and both are excellent quality. The portions are pretty large which is nice, and the prices are wallet friendly. The restaurant itself is always clean and lots of seating, never had to wait for a table. They are also right next to jubilee park, so I've gotten take out and sat at the park, which great for a nice summer day. read more

Well they have excellent sushi but the service is AWFUL! I go because I love their portions and food, but at times I find myself wondering if its worth the bad service. Everytime after 15 or more min we have to flag down a server to take our order then flag again for anything else. They never come back for empty dishes. Its not busy when we have gone but you figure out of the 10x we would get good service at least once but nope. Be prepared to have a lengthly sitting. Two of us traveling around Mt Baker Washington. Decided to find some waterfalls that seem to be all around us. One of them was just on the other side of the border. Looked up some restaurants and found this Korean restaurant. Oh my! My husband ordered dolsot bibimbop and I ordered Jjampong. Their presentation of the bibimbop was very different. It had all the vegetables in a separate dish so you can pick how much and which to put on the rice with the fried egg. Each of the vegetables were prepared with care and flair. They tasted delicious on their own and in the bibimbop. The Jjampong had more seafood than any I've had before. Oh we had gyoza as appetizers so I didn't finish, but it was so good that I took home the rest. The place is a super find! The staff was very friendly and helpful and food came out promptly. Portions are large but not the greatest flavor, almost tasted like the fish wasn't fresh, and perhaps some of the sushi rolls had been spritzed with lemon cleaner... We go out a lot to eat Japanese food. We came here three weeks ago and really enjoyed the food and service. I liked how the rolls were bigger than the standard sized ones served at other places. Since good sushi is hard to find in Abbotsford, Kojan was the place for us. However. . . All of that changed a couple days ago when me and hubster came here for dinner. The booths were all taken but there were several small tables and two large tables available. We were told all of those tables were "reserved" and we could wait 20 minutes or order take out. Um. . .NO. We went somewhere else for dinner. An hour and half later we drove by Kojan and those reserved tables were still EMPTY. We enjoy good food but good service is important too. Im not sure what was really going on but it shouldn't have been a big deal to seat two people. Like I said, those "reserved" tables were empty when we got there and they were still empty long after we dined somewhere else. Shady. Huge turn off. Not coming back. read more

My first experience here was horrible... we tried coming here when they first opened a couple of years ago... So we walked into a restaurant and there was 7 empty tables... they told us it would be an hour wait... we were confused but we left and we ended up driving by about 45 mins later and most of the tables were still empty.... Man, I have been to a lot of sushi places around this area, and I have to say - this place has the best cuts of salmon sashimi lol. For 14.98, the amount of salmon you get (8pc) is actually substantial and filling. But I digress, I'll organize this review: Service: This place has very good service. I've been here like 20 times at least over the last few months and it's never really failed - even during seriously busy hours. Atmosphere: The place is reasonably well lit. Spacious booths and regular tables are available. Some of them are more isolated than others so introverted types will be well off. And a bunch of cherry blossom (fabric?) flowers decorate the area. The music here is never super loud. But it varies from English to Korean to Japanese. I've heard k-pop, Ed Sheeran, and soft piano in recent memory lol. Price: The price isn't the cheapest. But it's not the most expensive either by a long shot - and the portions reflect what you get pretty well imo. If you want something cheaper in the area, you might wanna try Little Japan on Marshall Road near McCallum. Food: The food here is good. This place has more variety than many of the other sushi places. You can get baked rolls, takoyaki, tuna carpaccio, a miso with more complex flavour profile than (good), etc. I mention these because you can't actually get these everywhere. The presentation is also nice. They have the flower settings too (you'll see it on the menu). *service/food* Don't count on this but --- you might get a free gift pieces of something. They often let us sample a new roll or something. It's always been nice because we can sample things we wouldn't otherwise order without worrying of wasting money. read more

Best sushi you'll find in Abbotsford! From the decor to the fantastic staff to the large portions, if you're looking for a fantastic experience all around, stop in here. The cherry blossoms mixed with Christmas lights add a nice touch, my breath was taken away when I entered for the first time in a handful of years. I don't live in BC anymore but the when I'm back home I'd be silly not to return to Kojan. I may be one of the more expensive sushi places in town but you get what you pay for! read more

This place was over rated. We picked this place for lunch today just based on reviews. We came here for sushi and we had crazy busters roll and a lunch bento with sushi. The buster roll did not look like the picture on the menu. Tiny lump of cooked salmon/ tuna (not sure what they are) with a thick ring of sushi rice. I expected raw salmon/tuna inside (which was shown on the picture) instead of cooked ground fish. The rice ring texture was doughy ... and it was topped with raw tuna. Portion of rice too much and it felt like eating just a roll of rice with a thin slice of tuna. As a "signature roll" and what we paid for, we expected more. The california roll and spicy salmon rolls in the lunch bento were mediocre. They do taste like sushi you buy from fast food place or supermarket. The miso soup was super salty with no flavor and I could not finish it after two sips. Very disappointing as a mother's day lunch. read more

Went there when it first was converted from the old Presto Cucina place, and from the smell...I thought I had walked into a fish market. It was all I could do to not vomit while I was eating my lunch, I thought I was going to pass out. I know it's a sushi place, and I know there may be fresh fish, but it smelled more like dead fish. Service was good, food was alright, but couldn't get past the smell. I went to KoJan Japanese Restaurant for lunch, I ordered their $11 seafood noodle soup and they actually served me INSTANT noodles from the package. Even the soup base was used from the package. How would I know? It's because I have the same instant noodle at home. I told my concern to the owner of the restaurant about how I was very surprised to be served instant noodles in a restaurant. That didn't go very well as she was very defensive and argumentative. She told me ramen is instant noodle. Every time we come here, the staff is friendly and welcoming, even letting us in right before close so we can get some food. They are open pretty late, about 9:30 most nights, and the sushi is wonderful. They are always doing something new, and are pretty fast despite how busy they might get. The people at KoJan are great, and are quick to fix any mistakes (if any) and we always leave feeling full and satisfied, not to mention the price is awesome for the large portions they serve. This is definitely a restaurant we will make frequent visits to. read more

So I eat a lot of sushi. I have eaten at this place many times.The last time it seemed a bit expensive and the service wasn't up to par. Tonight was enough to make me write a review and vow to never eat here again. My 2 kids and I ordered a sushi platter ,26 piece, a California roll and a Las Vegas dynamite roll(was recommended by staff, it was terrible ) I asked for brown rice, knowing there would be an extra charge. We had 2 tea and a water to drink. The meal was ok, the bill came $110.00. I was shocked. They wanted to charge me an extra $17.50 for the brown rice, like seriously id happily pay $5 but $17.50...I can eat a whole meal at any sushi place in town for that..... I refused to pay $17.50, I mean I needed to say something... I paid $100.00 for a mediocre sushi dinner. I would stay clear of this place, much better and less expensive places. read more

If you're looking for cheap all you can eat this place is not for you, if you're looking for the best sushi money can buy that you come to the right place! The staff there are very fluent in English and are very helpful to suggest something to try. My personal favorite appetizer is the takoyaki which are battered deep fried octopus and tastes absolutely amazing. They also have very unique specialty rolls which are to die for! I walked into Kojans not knowing what to expect. I ordered their "box A" for lunch. There's not much in the name but boy, was I ever surprised when they brought me miso soup, fresh fruit, and a little bowl of sunamoni. After that they brought out a box of the most delicious chicken teriyaki. I was worried that I might not be able to finish my meal when they brought out a second box with spring rolls and sushi and salad. Wow! I checked the price in the menu and I couldn't believe I was getting all of this for only $13. Then somebody pointed at the sign in the window that says between 11 and 2:30 this whole meal is only $8.95. So...we have excellent and delicious food, great service, and low low prices. And enough food to take home for lunch tomorrow. I'm definitely going to take the grannies there for supper again! read more
