This food concept is someone saying "what if we made Mexican food served as sushi" it's not really sushi imo but is was delicious. Good for a casual lunch/dinner to try something new. Staff was friendly.

We had the miso soup- pretty good the tofu pieces were small and few. Edamame was typical in size. Some of the sushi rice was not cooked thoroughly and I don't know why or how but some pieces fell apart with the chop sticks... poor building skills. Cons: Not a good selection- they make more Tuna Rolls than any other fish No Fresh Wasabi option- only the paste The Unagi is normally fall apart tender, our we had to actually chew it.. rubbery, And water isn't just given, you have to ask for it a few times The Yellow Tail with Mango- not good Pros... The Snowy Mountain- was Awesome As the Hawaiian The Vegas is my favorite everywhere I go, and this was good- but it's lightly batter in tempura , where this was done differently and instead of ruining it covered in spicy mayo., I drizzle eel/ponzu sauce.. California roll is always a staple Caterpillar is bomb.. I normally order the Philly- here they use smoked salmon which is NOT used to make this.. so order with traditional salmon, tastes 100% better For two of us with soda our bill was $115 For two people.. not Four.. we didn't want to wait till 9pm "happy hour" for the 50% sweet deal... it's a joke in the wall spot for locals that feel this is good sushi, when it's actually not..

Upon arrival, they were very pleasant and the manager explained that the kitchen was closing in 20 mins. We were told it was not a problem and we just needed place our order fairly quick. We decided to dine in and wasted no time deciding what to order. Our server and the manager were very accommodating and we never felt rushed. Excellent Service!! They have a good size menu and they offer sushi specials during the day. If you decide on ramon, you pick your ramon displayed on a wall and you can create your own, pretty cool idea. The dining tables are nice and they all have hot pots. We decided on sushi, everything was delicious. They even brought a complimentary appetizer which was very good. The sushi was presented very well, it was fresh, and very good. Place ROCKS!!!

I enjoyed the wagyu, ramen noodles, and all the veggies! Eating it with the tonkatsu broth was great, but I also loved dipping it in the sesame and teriyaki sauce. So many different ways to experience it! The cream cheese wontons were also a hit. The appetizers are included in the all you can eat price, so try them! The big downside to Mr. Shabu is that it's so expensive. I would come back all the time if it weren't for the price. You have to do "all-you-can-eat" for the hot pots, and it costs over $30 per person. Because of that, I probably won't return anytime soon and it makes me very sad.

The concept is genuinely fun, and it's probably the biggest reason to visit. Every plate costs the same ($3.59), making it easy to try a variety of items without worrying about different prices. The restaurant is clean, the seating is comfortable, and the staff was friendly throughout our visit. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to the experience. We tried most of the sushi rolls that came by, and the biggest issue was the rice. Since sushi is my favorite food, I pay close attention to the quality of the rice, and this was by far the weakest part of the meal. It was overly soft, sticky, and overcooked, giving many of the rolls an unpleasant texture. The fish itself tasted fresh, which I appreciated, but the rice overpowered the entire experience. We also ordered the takoyaki, and it was disappointing. The outside was thick, while the inside felt undercooked and almost mushy. The amount of octopus was reasonable, but the texture kept us from enjoying it. For dessert, we tried the Nutella fried takoyaki. The ice cream and whipped cream were perfectly fine, but the fried dough itself was thick and dry inside. It wasn't a bad dessert, but it wasn't memorable either. Overall, I think Tsubame is worth visiting once for the experience. Watching the sushi rotate around the restaurant is fun, especially if you've never been to a conveyor belt sushi restaurant before. However, if you're looking for outstanding sushi, there are much better options in Utah. The concept is excellent, the service is good, and the fish seemed fresh, but the quality of the rice and some of the hot dishes kept us from wanting to come back. If you're going for the experience, you'll probably have a good time. If you're going primarily for great sushi, you may leave disappointed.
