What I really liked about this food counter was that, despite what its name may suggest, there is more than just sushi in this sushi world.
There is a big counter full of fresh and yummy looking pre-prepared sushi boxes available, but I was drawn to the hot counter. With some sticky rice on the side you can choose a number of dishes to stick in a takeaway box.
I was a bit overwhelmed as the choices were so unusual, Mongolian lamb? Strange looking stewed beef? Lots of things with chilli in the title?
Upon seeing this panic, the friendliest of servers came over and enthusiastically started trying to help me pick a couple of dishes. I thought that was so unusual and pleasant as the lunchtime crowds often have servers just trying to get you to pay and move on as quickly as possible.
Happily munching into the Mongolian lamb and some chilli chicken run through with bright red capsicum I discovered both were delicious. Although they slightly lacked in sauce to moisten the rice a bit, I found they were very individually flavoured and full of creative zing.
