It has re branded to twisted chicken pot - A menu is on a clipboard on your table and the instructions are to 1) pick your chicken pot (half or whole - we went the half) 2) choose your chili or numb level (the numb stuff is awesome! we went mild on both) and then 3) choose your hot pot ingredients. The hot pot ingredients consist of meat (we went the beef fillet and the special on the day, some wagyu), we got some very interesting cheese balls (but there's also mushroom, cuttle fish, tofu and more), from the seafood options we chose prawn, we got corn and cabbage as our vegetables. For sauce we got satay sauce and they supplied us with some sweet chili, though we didn't need it much since the hot pot soup was extremely flavoursome. We got noodles and dumplings to add in. This was an extremely sufficient amount of food and all very fresh.
The bbq cooktop was on our table and they added the chicken and fried it to start with, with the chili, coriander and numb, we ate this (certainly tasty) with a lot of bones. Once this was removed, they added the soup and we were able to add in our ingredients. We obviously looked new to this and the lovely owner Helen came and explained the process to us, and even helped as cook half of our ingredients. Some things cook quickly like the meats and others need more stewing. So if you're new to this like us, get some advice too. They gave us some soy bean curd which was incredible! Whilst the chicken is $30, the add ons are all pretty cheap, depends how much you want the determine the cost. Located on dixon street in China town, it's easy to find. The business has been there about 7 years but they've re branded to be a chicken pot (apparently first in Sydney); as they used to be a noodle pot. Love the red, black and white fit out. They also serve entrees - we got fried chicken wings and squid. Staff were all extremely nice and helpful and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. read more
