We walked in and no one else was the around 7:30pm after leaving the mall but shortly after the place filled. Soft drinks are sold in cans, I'm not going to cast my opinion on that...you have your own. The lettuce wraps are so yummy! Perfectly seasoned chicken, fresh veggies and the sauce...that sauce. Paired with the crispy lettuce wraps, you have to add these to your meal. You'll inbox a thank you later I promise. I ordered the spicy crab roll - typical flavor nothing too review worthy. I discovered this restaurant on Scoutmob (50% off your meal up to $15 off) in the Alpharetta area. It's in a strip mall and I wasn't sure what to expect out of such a small establishment. It's doable. The food is just okay. They have more than just sushi. As a matter of fact, I recommend trying foods other than the sushi. The sushi was editable but the hot dishes looked better for the price. They offer many hot dishes such as Mongolian Chicken etc. I greatly enjoyed the refillable hot green tea! It was really good on really cold day. The Ginger salad was decent. A cute family next at the table said the restaurant was even smaller before and it recently expanded to the whole 10 tables it has today. It sounded like a take out type restaurant that changed recently. They liked it very much! The servers were very attentive and refilled the drinks regularly. I am an Alpharetta local and would recommend this to people who are looking for new Asian Fusion restaurants in the area. When I first started going I would always get the Pineapple Fried Rice or Chicken Lo Mein as an entree for dinner. Both are delicious! As I got older and developed different interests in food, I decided to be bold and order the Spicy Basil Noodles w/ chicken. This item is a savory Thai dish also known as "Drunken Noodles" commonly found at other Thai restaurants. Every place prepares theirs differently but I think Sushi Sumo has a less authentic direction for this dish because they have jalapeños, green beans, basil, and onions featured. There is something to be said about the sauce for this dish. It is heavenly! However, over the years they got new management and I noticed they started skimping on the sauce for that dish. I love that dish so much and really only prefer to get Drunken Noodles at this restaurant so I will have them add extra sauce to it - which is free of charge. Also I have ordered this to-go and by the time I get home (15min drive) it is still piping hot!! I am a noodle fanatic so hopefully my review helps! When I hadn't received anything by 8pm, I called the restaurant and the woman that answered the phone indicated that my order had been picked up and that if I didn't get it in the next 20 mins to call back. At 8:25pm, I called and was told it would be another 15 mins. This is the WORST service ever. Order FINALLY delivered at 8:35pm. Almost 2 hours later after I placed my order. What a joke read more

This was our second try of this restaurant, and candidly, we were not overly impressed the first time. The sushi was just average, and the General Tso's chicken was beyond bad. I always thought if you're selling buffalo wings, go to Buffalo and know what they are supposed to taste like. Ditto with General's Chicken. If its on your menu, go to whetever it is served at its best and prepare it right. Soggy with a sweet n sour sauce is NOT right. Go to NYC where the dish was first developed (it was not creates in China) and get it right. If you're going to serve sushi, get the soy sauce right -- the soy you's serve with Chinese is not the same quality or taste as Japanese. Stop trying to cut corners and get it right. Overall, very unimpressed and now off our list, as there are too many that serve this cuisine at far better levels of excellence. read more

After I signed my receipt, the delivery driver told me to order from a restaurant closer to me next time because I lived too far away, which I found interesting because my order arrived 20min early. This was my first time trying Sushi Sumo. I called in advance and ordered the Spicy Basil Fried Rice for pickup. When I went inside to pay, I handed the young lady at the register my credit card. She proceeded to swipe, then inconspicuously laid it on the counter upon completion (further from where I was standing) instead of handing it back to me in a professional manner. She then laid the receipt on the counter and proceeded to walk to the back without a word. I asked her if she would like for me to sign, only then did she look up and respond. I ordered off the Thai menu via Foodsby. I had the Spicy Basil Noodle. This is my go-to Thai dish. Sometimes it's called Drunken Noodle, or Pad Ke Mao. This dish tasted nothing like I expected. It was nothing more than noodles, oil, a sprig of Basil, some green beans, tofu chunks (which I chose as my protein), and some jalapeno slices (because I asked for Thai Hot). SAD that they changed. This restaurant used to be a good spot for a quick takeout before the Covid19 pandemic. I used to order often and would have given them solid 4 for its value and quality. I am very sad to say the takeout during the pandemic was a big fail. The food is now terrible; wet and soggy noodles, flavorless and watery chicken, and beef dish with barely any beef. I want to support local businesses during this difficult time, but there is no excuse for the inedible/unenjoyable dishes. It is a tough time and maybe they decided to adjust their quality, but others who have been reopened for a quite some time seem to be doing fine in quality control unlike Sushi Sumo. We love ordering from here and they have been our go to sushi delivery place for the three years we have lived here. They have honestly never disappointed us and we've tried many varieties on the menu. I would definitely recommend trying out the Chef Special Sushi rolls. They are exceptionally fast as well and the delivery drivers are always kind. It gets pricey ordering through all the apps but it's definitely worth a lazy night in. We often get together and all buy lunch from Sushi Sumo for lunch while at work...The food is decent, nothing to write home about but its good enough to order and get delivered while your at work... The reason I gave this place only two stars is because the delivery guy is terrible. He isn't friendly at all, he has held food from paying customers until they write him a tip on the receipt, he will argue with you about whether or not they include a delivery charge (they do), and he takes a pen with him almost every time he comes in here. Taking a pen is not the biggest deal, I know, But its the straw that broke the camels back for me. You would think that he would be nice to a place that orders from his place of work and tips him several times a week and usually several times in one day, as we all pay separately, but the customer service just isn't there. I would like to give 3.5 stars, its good and very convenient for me. First, the staff is great - the girls at the front are super cheery and welcoming. The good was good - somethings quite good, some just ok. It was also very quick - I went in to order takeout and it was ready in less than 15 minutes. We mainly stuck to Chinese this visit, I'm anxious to go back for the sushi. Takeout: The dumplings (pan fried) were quite good, but the sauce was a little off - too much soy, not enough sweet. Wonton soup was good, and a huge amount for the price Chicken wings were good, right amount of crisp and not tiny. Chicken pad thai - just ok. The noodles were cooked perfectly and a good amount of chicken, but it didn't seem like much else was in there, so they were a bit bland. But the portion was gigantic - I ate it for three meals! Cashew chicken - this was good also, my husband isn't a fan of a ton of veggies in his meal, so he was very happy with the ratio here - and very happy there was no broccoli (carrots, mushrooms, celery and water chestnuts) Kids chicken fingers (sweet and sour chicken style). These were great - some of the best I've had - we were fighting with our children for them! Overall, it was good. I'll definitely be back and hopefully the sushi will increase my rating from a 3 to a 4! read more

Lunch specials are a great deal. This place is small though and it can get really packed. Had a couple small issues with to go orders, but they had more to do with the BeyondMenu online system. The ambiance is to die for! Low lighting with romantic jazz music.... I was in heaven from the moment I walked in. The server was very attentive and friendly and made us feel very relaxed and comfortable. The menu has a wide range of Asian selections to choose from such as Thai, Chinese and Japanese. The prices are very reasonable and its hard knowing where to start. We ordered spring roll and Pad Thai (I had shrimp and my husband had beef). The spring rolls were very hot and fresh and tasted delicious. I was very impressed with the hand rolled technique. It came with two different sauces (a spicy mustard and something similar to duck sauce but more sophisticated). When our Pad Thai came out it looked and tasted very authentic with fresh ground peanuts and a side of lime. I was happy because some fusion restaurants will give you peanut butter as a garnish or a side of lemon.... The prices were very reasonable and we cannot wait to return and try some of their other selections! read more
