Yami-Yami Roll, Momo Roll and Salmon box sushi
Coryn M.

What a surprising find! Small hole in the wall sushi restaurant in a shopping center. I saw the good reviews and was still surprised by how much I liked it! Delicious fresh sushi with really nice staff. Try the box sushi!! I had never heard of this despite being such a sushi fiend and wow! It is basically a layered sushi instead of roll and this means you get larger fish pieces and more robust flavors. We had the salmon box sushi and *drool.*

Came here after seeing such good reviews. I was torn on my review here. I thought the sushi was very good. My roll did kind of fall apart when I tried to pick it up, which was a little annoying, but it didn't take away from the taste. The rice was nice and moist, and the fish was fresh. They had plenty of options for rolls, and even offered small rolls, which is nice if you aren't that hungry or if you have kids. The restaurant is small, but not cramped. It was nice. They even offer outdoor seating, but sushi is not something I want to eat outside unless it's cold out. For some reason, the waitress really paid attention to the table behind me. She was talking it up and offering them suggestions. But we didn't receive that same service. Maybe they are regulars. My daughter got the miso soup and rice, and it was a very small portion of soup. However, she liked it. I started with the ginger salad, which was pretty good but nothing special. For dinner, I opted for the tuna box sushi, which is a roll that is a rectilinear block. There were 7 pieces for $14.95. My roll consisted of avocado, imitation crab, spicy tuna, masago, spicy mayo, wasabi mayo, eel sauce, and scallion. I had ordered a side of spicy mayo, which I do every sushi place I go. It came in a very small container like one would take home a side of soy sauce. For that mayo, I was charged $1, which seemed excessive for a small sampling of mayo. That was a turnoff for me, because I don't think you should get charged a full dollar for a side of sauce. I understand it's a condiment, but I don't even use soy sauce. It bothered me. Otherwise, I thought the sushi was solid.

This place has been open for a little bit over a year now. It's Japanese restaurant that specializes mainly on sushi. I guess you could tell by the name right? To start it's located in rather small shopping strip with only a handful of stores as its neighbors. Access to it involves going through a single lane road that can be congested during rush hours, so just keep that in mind if you are planning to be there at a certain time. The interior is decorated fairly simple with nothing too over the top. You have sushi bar in the back and tables and booths leading up to it. I would say it a medium size restaurant that can sit a decent amount of people. They also have an outside seating area as well if that's what you're interested in. In terms of service, I would say this place is alright. The staff will come by every so often to check on you and see if you need anything, which is good enough for me that they don't come over too often to the point where you can't enjoy your meal peacefully. The menu ranges from sashimi, sushi, or just regular Japanese dishes like Ramen or hibachi if that's fits your palette. I would say the sashimi and sushi tasted very fresh for the most part. I was impressed with that. Most sushi places in GA are either hit or miss when it comes to freshness innthe quality of their seafood. Overall, I had a pretty good experience for my first time visiting. Definitely plan on returning soon when I'm in the area and craving some Japanese food. My Recommendations: -Eel hand roll -sashimi combo (chef choices)

This place is excellent! This little hole in wall is a hidden gem that has a lot to offer. I've been here twice now and it did not disappoint either time. Jackie works the sushi bar, is really friendly and serves generous size fish portions. Give it a try - Great service, nice staff and very fresh sushi!

B-52 Roll And small Salmon Roll

This is a cute little sushi place located inside of a shopping center. It's easy to see which storefront they're in because they have a nice patio with outdoor seating and a string of lights above. They have unique appetizers, like salmon poppers- cream cheese and shiso leaves wrapped in salmon and deep fried, and takoyaki - a " Japanese ball-shaped snack with diced octopus. Served with teriyaki sauce, mayo, scallions and bonito flakes on top." In addition to sushi they have ramen, rice, hibachi, and more. I tried the B-52 roll, which is a tuna roll with spicy tuna on top covered with sriracha and jalapeño slices. It was the spiciest sushi I have ever eaten! In anticipation of this I also ordered a more plain roll- a small salmon roll (6 pieces instead of 8). The fish was good quality and the presentation was appealing for both rolls. The server was very friendly. She was handling all the tables, which wasn't a lot, it's a small restaurant. She seemed to know a few of the patrons and had a good repertoire with them.

Best sushi that you can find in Georgia! We enjoyed the friendly environment and hospitality from the nice owner. The sashimi is fresh and the ramen noodle is phenomenal. The broth has the authentic flavor and my son finished the whole bowl!

Loved the calamari & the sauce it came with (requested extra for our sushi it was so good). The volcano roll would have been better without the sriracha sauce because it was too hot & took away from the Asian taste. Fast friendly service

New place for us. As good as we have had in other local restaurants. Enjoyed the Lion and Playboy rolls.

It's a small restaurant but the nostalgia of the interior cannot be denied. And it turned out some of the staff are from Hawaii too so it just adds to the warm, friendly atmosphere you can expect from a place like this. As for the food, just as good and impressive. My dad and I had their chirashi or rice with different seafood varieties and my mom had one of their teishoku or combination plates. They said it's a sushi restaurant but I guarantee they have more than that at Tanaka. If you decide to try it, which I recommend you do, call and make a reservation because unfortunately you can't do it online and it's a small restaurant so it's better to call ahead of time anyway. Once you try this terrific restaurant, it's worth it!

Don't judge this place by its exterior. The inside is absolutely beautiful--homey, welcoming, and…read moresurprisingly refined. There are so many thoughtful little details in the décor that make it feel special. Every server and staff member was genuinely kind and impressively hospitable, offering a level of service that honestly surpasses some higher-end restaurants I've been to. Now, the food. Their ginger salad might be the best I've ever had. They use romaine and green leaf lettuce instead of the typical iceberg, which gives it far more flavor and texture. The dressing was smooth and creamy--not broken, watery, or overly acidic like so many ginger dressings tend to be. The miso soup also had more depth of flavor than most versions I've tried. A bonus surprise: they have more lunch options than what's listed online, and the in-person prices are actually cheaper. So don't rely on the website--come in and look for yourself. I ordered the chicken teriyaki and sushi roll combo. They offer a generous selection of rolls to choose from, and I went with the Alaskan roll. The filling was plentiful and well-balanced. The rice on the outside was slightly thin in a few bites where the seaweed peeked through, but the overall flavor was excellent. The chicken teriyaki was outstanding--juicy, tender, perfectly seared, and full of rich teriyaki flavor. I also appreciated the unexpected cold bean sprout salad on the side, which added a nice contrast to the meal. Overall, this was a wonderful lunch at a very fair price--only $15. I'd happily return and highly recommend stopping in rather than making assumptions based on appearances or online listings.

When I first had their ramen that's all I could think about when we visited Atl. After moving in the area and having this on a random Tuesday night idk what it was but I got their spicy kimchi ramen and my husband got their tonkotsu ramen and it lacked flavor. I asked for spicy Sichuan pepper sauce on side and all it was doing with a tiny bit in my ramen was making my tongue tingle the whole time. It kind of ruined my appetite. I had this better and not sure why that happened. I was charged extra without being informed of this and I gave her the whole sauce back after telling the server about this. I just like being informed of what I will be charged extra for, that's all. Anyways, overall did not appreciate this location at all.

My Crispy Chicken Rice Burger was quite hard to eat without it falling apart and eating it layer by layer. The Thai Iced Tea was pretty good and so was a Purple Sweet Potato Fries. The Omurice was also good but lacking great as well as the Yinyang bowl. Overall my expectations were not met but glad I got to check out this popular franchise.

The decor and atmosphere really make you feel like you've been transported to a lively izakaya in Japan--it's the perfect spot for sharing a wide variety of small plates. The Tapas & Kitchen: * Ankimo (Monkfish Liver): This was a standout. It was prepared perfectly--rich, velvety, and a great start to the meal. * Grilled Highlights: The kitchen really excels with the grill. The chicken skin is crispy and decadent, and the chicken liver is another major hit--perfectly cooked and full of flavor. * Seafood Favorites: My wife absolutely loved the steamed clams, and the grilled oysters were a hit as well. The octopus salad was also very fresh and well-balanced. The Sushi Bar: * Fish Selection: The quality and variety here are impressive. We ordered a mix of rolls and nigiri, including scallop, sweet shrimp, and tuna maki. * Quality: Every piece of fish was notably fresh. The only minor critique was the sushi rice--it was a bit dry for my personal taste, but the quality of the seafood more than made up for it. * Snail (Tsubugai): It's great to see more unique options like snail on the menu; it's a nice touch for those who appreciate traditional Japanese variety. The Experience: The menu is huge and well-rounded, offering something for everyone. Despite being our first time, the service was efficient and the pricing felt very fair for the quality and portion sizes provided.

We wanted some ketchup for the fries but the server never came back after dropping off our entrees, so my husband had to get up to ask for some, then he brought the smallest container I've ever seen, for 2 people to share. While the food was pretty good, the unattentive service put a damper on the outing. Even just to get our check we had to get up a third time to track down the server. The food is ok but not worth the disappointing service, especially if you are not in the area.
