Sushi Nami is indeed attached to another sushi restaurant right next to it. Maybe that sushi joint is more budget friendly. Nami is not! And likely left a bad taste in my mouth as I placed our expensive order. I like to try a little bit of everything and even the sashimi was pricey. I'd expect the most fresh and best sushi in all of town! What we got was pretty basic quality, a small step up from grocery store chain but double the price. The weird cooked roll my husband ordered was 3 degrees from burnt and the salmon was very well done. The rice in the other rolls lacked the quality expected of sushi rice. The salmon sashimi I couldn't eat as it was a mess of muscle tissue. Inside was an open space with a sushi bar. I liked that this seemed like a family friendly place with kid art on the walls. Went to Sushi Nami for lunch for the first time today. Very confusing entrance because it's literally on the backside of another sushi restaurant. The atmosphere was nice but very quiet. Only two other customers in the restaurant at 1:30 when we went in. Server was nice and helpful. Food was good. I had two rolls and my wife had a Bento Box. Quality was good but still after living on the West Coast for 25 years not as good as the sushi I'm used to. I had a roll that was a "daily special" called a King Roll and it was excellent. Not as good as it used to be this is apparent by fewer customers in the facility a couple of years ago you had to make a reservation a week in advance to get in. Now I can call Friday night and get in the same night. Owners do not have a focus on customer satisfaction I waited 30 min for someone to come to my table, with the management at the register just looking on at us the entire time. We finally have to go up to them and ask to for menus.It was clear that management had no expectation of their staff to get service customers any sooner. I have seen this restaurant for years but never went in. I decided to check it out today and regret it deeply. SERVICE: there was a Korean lady who greeted us to our seats. We noticed that she was the main greeter and another young guy nonchalantly served as the solo waiter. It took a while for our orders to be taken, water and miso soup to come out. It was so slow! (11:30am Friday). Not once, were we asked if we needed something (I had to get up to ask the lady for some more ginger). Our water was refilled ONLY as the plates were being picked up and I was paying ‍. FOOD: $$$ for one star eating food. The sushi D lunch menu came with crunch roll which consisted of tuna + panko on the inside. Heavy on the crunch. It was so dry that I had to eat it with additional rice (compliments of the very disproportionally served Tonkatsu). The salmon and squid nigiri were the only reason why this review bumped it up to 2 stars. The tonkatsu (as pictured) was so incredibly disappointing. The size of it looked similar to that of a kids menu portion with 1.5cups of rice + so much sauce. The meat was heavily salted, overcooked-- not worth $18. It came out cold, not crunchy. AMBIANCE: the restaurant is pretty inside but very disorganized in the back. On the way to the restroom, there were boxes/supplies stacked messily along the walls. It makes me wonder what the back kitchen looks like. The tables were very sticky and I never noticed any of the workers cleaning the tables. We will NOT be going back. It is hard to see how this institution has 4+ stars. Please save your money and check out other Japanese restaurants with better service, value and taste. --------- At the end, the lady asked how everything was -- my husband and I said that it was not the best. SushiNami used to be our go to place for really great sushi and nice ambiance. Unfortunately the restaurant has changed. It was not crowded at all on a Saturday night. Our menus were filthy dirty with food splatter all over them, the table was sticky and my napkin had stains on it. They no longer have a cocktail menu, just sake, wine and beet. The food came out quickly and tasted good however my husband and I got sick from it later that night. The only plus was our service. Our waitress was super nice and attentive. So sad about how this restaurant has changed. I hope they can clean it up and get customers back. Unfortunately we will not be returning for a while. read more

The location is right off Winward parkway, in a joint building with Volcano Asian bistro. The interior is a very nice modern zen decor. The tables and sushi bar are all made from a rustic dark stained wood finish. The lighting is simple yet calm. The music is smooth and jazzy. We came on a Saturday night without a reservation and sat at the sushi bar. We were seated and had our orders in in under 5 minutes. The server was very kind and made several recommendations for our order. We got our appetizers and drinks, to include our sushi, almost immediately. The tommy sunset sushi roll with subbed avocado had the creaminess of avocado, the savoriness of sushi, and the sweet tartness of lemon. Very good. The chicken teriyaki dinner came steaming hot and looked and tasted amazing, and the yaki soba with garlic steak substituted was divine. The asparagus fries and sushi and sashimi deluxe platter were excellent. The asparagus fries were hot and crispy, and with that yum yum type sauce, how could you not like veggies like this? All items on the sushi and sashimi platter were excellent too. My favorites were the amberjack and the white tuna. I also enjoyed the sushi rolls, which had a variety of ingredients so much so that it was definitely colorful, flavorful, and memorable. Omgosh- I used to look forward to coming here weekly pre-pandemic. It was the most incredible sushi and experience that you could have ever dreamed to experience. I'm happy to say the cocktails were still on par with what I remember, but the sushi and Ahi Poke tasted pre-made like Kroger Sushi. I can roll with Sushi Nami! Funny story: Sushi Nami shares the SAME building as Volcano Sushi. The first time my family and I went here, we thought they were one company and parked near the Volcano Sushi side. Naturally, we walked in to the closest entrance, which was the entrance to Volcano Sushi. After placing a couple orders of apps, I started to notice that the restaurant didn't look like photos I had seen on Yelp. In addition, the place was dead on a Saturday night. So, I asked the server if we were at Sushi Nami and sure enough we weren't! We hurriedly paid for our apps, told our server we needed to be somewhere (like next door), thanked him and left. Long story short, we ran into our server at Volcano Sushi after a wonderful meal at Sushi Nami. *Face palm* I don't think I've ever been so embarrassed in my life. I couldn't even look at him as he wished us a good night. Now to what you came here for, the review of Sushi Nami. This is currently our favorite sushi spot! I've been here three times now and their other location once. They are consistent! I've tried several items including but not limited to the following: Grilled Yellowtail Neck Fried Calamari Shrimp app (forgot the name) 12 and 69 Degrees Roll Big "O" Wish I could remember the names of everything I've tried. I'll just have to update this review next time I visit. One word to describe all the items: excellent! They really know their craft. The seafood is fresh and cooked perfectly. The rolls are unique. Every roll we've tried - raw and cooked - we've loved and we each try to order a different roll everytime. We have yet to try one we didn't like! Every guest we've brought here has been equally as impressed as we are. The staff including the chefs are friendly, helpful, and attentive. They provide you a hot towel before each meal, which is a nice touch. They have a separate parking lot, on the other side of Volcano. Plenty of spaces. read more

Japanese Sushi Chef in Alpharetta!!! What a rare gem. Outside of the major metropolitan cities, it's impossible to find these days. Generous thick cuts of sashimi, plus Otoro at a decent price. Also, ask for "real" wasabi (extra cost) but well worth its silkiness vs. Imitation. The service was fantastic. If you haven't tried, you're missing out. I liked the glass separation per table nice to have separation and sanitation for the guest. The ambiance was nice and romantic and quiet. We got 4 rolls total! Pros: Fresh sushi! I tried two rolls and it was very good. I did a baked cooked salmon and a seared fresh salmon roll! Cons: they don't have the red sodium soy sauce. Solid sushi joint. The restaurant is a bit hidden. Once you walk in, you'll notice the restaurant has an intimate cozy feel. There is pexi glass in between the tables and the servers wear masks which made me feel very safe. The sushi is very good. I used to come here every so often throughout the past 7 years. They used to be better though from what i can remember, but still really good for the area and the prices are reasonable. The drinks are also great. I would definitely come here for lunch though, because they have great options like bento boxes. read more

My friends and I have wanted to try out this place for a while now and we finally decided to take it. The entrance was a little hard to find. There's actually two japanese restaurant in that one building. The entrance is on the inner left or right side of the building depending on where you park your car. They've seated us pretty spaced out from everyone else which is a plus. All the staffs wore masks. I had the cucumber salad and two rolls. For the price they charge, the taste was average. Although in hind sight, most of their signature rolls are around the same price (+-$2 difference) and I happened to choose one of the more simpler rolls. Regardless, their menu choice is small compared to other japanese restaurants around Alpharetta. I gave it four star because service was great. The sushi is consistently yummy, and the ambiance is fun. I've eaten here a number of times, and it's some of the best sushi in the area. They have all the classic rolls you'd expect to see, as well as some inventive creations. There is also a large menu featuring fully cooked options in case anyone in your party is a little squeamish about the raw stuff. Based on previous experiences, I would have left a better review. I've recommended the place many times and introduced many friends to it when they wondered where to find good sushi in the area. However, I was here this week and, sad to say, didn't have a great experience. Our server was warm and friendly when we sat down, but the service sadly began to suffer when she realized we weren't planning to rack up a huge check (we stopped in for a quick bite this time, though I've absolutely been there for large, expensive meals before.) She started by asking what kind of wine we'd like. When we both said we would stick with water, she looked at us with disbelief and asked again if we wanted wine. A few minutes later, when she saw that we were ordering a noodle entree, one roll, and a salad, she frowned wordlessly and took back the sheet. The service was night and day from when we first entered, and neither myself nor my friend (a former server herself) is remotely high maintenance. I'm down for pretty much anything except clear rudeness. Like, I get that servers want customers to rack up a big bill because big bills generally equate to larger tips. But this was the most obvious case of "I'm bummed that you're not spending $100 tonight" that I've ever encountered in a restaurant. read more
