Sushi Station is my sister and her family's go to restaurant. They just love the friendly staff and how attentive they are. They know the servers and are awfully helpful. My nephew knows Kirk, Chase, Shane, Sarah and Destiny. Now, the most important thing. Their sushis and sashimis are very good and fresh. There's a variety to choose from or you can order from the menu. Desserts are also good. Parking is available. I definitely recommend this restaurant. read more

Sushi on a conveyor belt is always ok with me. The restaurant is well located on Randall Rd. just north of Highway 90. Easy to get to, easy to find. Nice facility - simply but nicely decorated, very functional. Very clean too, at this point in its young life cycle. Some of their signage is a bit unfriendly but the staff were great. (I get why they have the signage...but it's still not customer friendly.) We went a bit late in the evening (9:00 p.m.), about an hour before they closed, so they weren't putting out new plates - the selection was slim - but they did tell us we could order anything off the menu. That's just not as much fun as making an impulsive decision to pull something off the belt. We had some 10 year olds with us - they loved it. It was quite an experience for them, and they will happily return with us. Great place for families, as everyone is likely to find something they like. (The 10 year olds ate a bowl of steamed rice each, chocolate covered strawberries and a dish of edamame between them and were quite content with that.) Husband and I enjoyed the food. Selection, as previously mentioned, was a bit thin, so would go much earlier next time. Sushi was fresh, seemed like there was potential for lots of variety, and signage on dishes was good. (I've been to similar restaurants and never really knew what I was picking up off the conveyer - required nerves of steel!). Overall, for 4 people (2 kids, 2 adults) we spent about $30 - so it's really pretty affordable. Pricing is based on plate color - so you have control over the cost. Can drop in for leisurly dinner or a quick snack. Tables are attached to the wall and probably comfortably seat 6 - so not suitable for large groups who want to sit altogether. (If you are ok splitting up into smaller groups to eat, then go for it.) Would I recommend? Yes. Good for *everyone* including families. Would I return? Yes - but I will go in the standard dinner hour (5p to 7p) to ensure maximum selection. (A good quesion to call them about - what time do they stop producing new plates? I visited the store tonight and it was my very first time ever eating sushi or going to this location. I absolutely loved it! The train of sushi options is never ending. If you don't see what you want on the train, you can order it from your server. All of the sushi I had was delicious. They even have desserts on the train! I'm a little disappointed in today's experience at Sushi Station. I've been a customer for many years and have always enjoyed it. But today made me want to comment. First, I had both the spicy tuna roll and the negitoro. Both tasted as if the fish was not fresh. I know that for both, the tuna is minced, but they were more the consistency of paste. The spicy tuna roll tasted stale like it had say overnight. The negitoro was simply just fishy and had no texture or delicious tuna flavor. This is sad because the Rolling Meadows location is where I learned to live a gunk an, and especially negitoro. Today's experience made me regret getting it. Next there was the issue with the surf claim. It had a dollop of wasabi under the clam that rendered it as a heat bomb. I know this can happen but it was on 3 of the 4 I ate. Lastly was the For Station Roll. It was horrible. I honestly thought I had grabbed the wrong thing as it tasted so overpoweringly fishy, I almost spit it out. The issue there is that it is spicy crab salad which shouldn't taste fishy at all. I know this is budget sushi, but as my go to since they opened, I was just beyond disappointed. I will of course come back, and hopefully it will be better next Update - hate to lower my review, but it seems every time I come here it gets worse. The food is ok, but inconsistent. And the customer service is just lacking. I came in alone today and asked to be seated. The host took me to the first side you come to. There were 8 people total seated at the 14 seats...mostly pairs. He wanted to seat me in one of the only single chairs with someone on both sides. At the same time there were 3 people seated on the other side. I asked to sit there and the host honestly looked as if I had hit him. Once seated, the server brought one dish and one pack of Wasabi. I asked for a second dish and she seemed confused as to why I would want a second. After a minute she either with a dish. But still seemed confused why I wanted a dish specifically for my pickled ginger. I'll still come because the food can be very good. Just wish this location had the same amount of dedication to the customer that the Rolling Meadows location has. read more

My wife and I have been experimenting with grocery store sushi for the last six months. We have also been to Asian restaurants and ordered sushi appetizers so we felt we were ready to jump in with both feet. We went to Sushi Station in Elgin off Randall Rd. The inside of the restaurant was worn and tired. There was signs of some type of repairs to the area near the wash rooms. I just got the feeling the place wasn't clean. Something I think is imperative with Sushi. Service was attentive and polite. The food was good, but being sushi newbie's we could have been easily impressed. I am not a sushi fan, but my husband and my kids are, so I find myself here with them quite a bit. I'd rate it about a 3, but since 3 other members of my family would likely rate it at a 4, I'll give them that. I have been brave and tried a couple of different sushi rolls -- but it's just not my type of thing. My husband and kids however, could devour plates upon plates of the rolls. My daughter absolutely loves the cucumber rolls and my son is a huge station roll fan. My go-to when we dine here is the teriyaki chicken and a bowl of steamed rice. The best thing about this place is that plates are labeled or colored by price, the conveyor belt goes around, you pick whatever you find appealing and if it's taking to long, you can grab a menu and order whatever you'd like. Patience is a virtue, but when you have hangry friends.., patience can be deadly. Fortunately for us we have places like sushi station. No fuss. No wait. If you see what you like just grab it, and be happy. I'm a big fan of Sushi Station. There is one that I once often went to in Rolling Meadows, however it was so small that it was sometimes just annoying. This Sushi Station however is much larger, and seating is a lot more accommodating. Sushi Station is great for the it's convenience. If you see a something you like you just grab it. Convenience is great, but fortunately Sushi Station also delivers with the quality of their food. The sushi is actually quite good. Don't get me wrong however. As yummy as some of the sushi is. I can't with good conscience say it's authentic Japanese fare. Sushi Station is not by any means a truly authentic sushi house. It definitely accommodates American taste. Just seeing the different creations that pass by such as the Mexican and Italian Roll, I can imagine Japanese sushi chefs just shake their head in disappointment. I digress though, because Sushi Station does well appeal to taste of it's customers. Although the food may not be the most authentic, it still does have some great flavors, and it provides a great venue for people just trying out sushi. To conclude, I recommend Sushi Station. It's easy and quick, but be careful the plates do stack up and some plates gets quite pricey, so try not to go crazy. Let the rolls go down the conveyor belt on time just so you know what you want to grab first. Also try the Spicy Scallop w/Chili oil. It's my favorite and I tend to grab it in multiples. I'm a fan because of its close location to where I live. The sushi rides past your table on a conveyor belt that is covered and refrigerated. The sushi is on colored coded plates which tell you how much it is. If you don't see something you like you can order it from their menu. I'm with the other yelpers on this not the best sushi but great to have a bigger sushi place in the burbs. When my husband and I go we typically spend about $30 -$40 depending on how hungry we are. I like my rolls/sushi/sashimi chilled and since the food rides around the restaurant it can become less than chilled. I have had rolls that were almost room tempurature which was a bummer. read more

Not the best sushi in the world, but very well prices for the most part. You can actually see the sushi passing by, and see a description of it. The only problem is having to communicate to the person closest to the belt what you want, lol. I have never been unhappy with what I have gotten here. My first experience with a sushi carousel. Enjoyed the Alaska roll with wasabi and ginger, the seaweed salad and an all-vegetable roll. The Alaska roll was tasty, but I was surprised that the avocado had time to turn brown; I often order Alaska roll and eat it the following day and the avocado's not brown. I special-ordered salmon sashimi through a waiter. It tasted very defrosted. I'm puzzled because I hear that all raw fish in the United States must be frozen, and yet all the sashimi I've eaten elsewhere has always tasted remarkably good, except the sashimi at Sushi Station, which did taste like it came from a freezer. My only guess is that this sashimi spent more time frozen than the sushi in other establishments. read more

Was not a fan in the beginning, because the sushi isn't the greatest quality, but since my family and friends like this place so much, I kept finding myself back there! And it gradually grew on me :) It's menu is very americanized, you'll find things such as barbeque chicken rolls lol!! The udon is also pretty salty, and their desserts are really awful and you can tell they're not made fresh in any way. I do have a couple favorite rolls (mexican roll, tamago egg, boiled shrimp), so I don't mind stopping by once in awhile :) It's a fun, tasty place, but don't expect the greatest quality food! Oh, and staff is always nice, friendly, and very pleasant!! :D mega plus! But it's a pretty cool place. I really love this place! Sushi Station is everything! If you are really a fan and a lover of sushi, you must visit this place and try its menu. Horrible...Horrible....Horrible. Upon entering at 8:15 PM I was given a seat at the sushi bar. On one of their TV'S I saw a game I wanted to see and asked my server if I could sit at one of the FIVE open 4-Top tables and she happily obliged. I then went to their dirty bathroom to wash up and upon my return a sever named Shane (guy with beard) said "management won't allow a single person to sit at these tables." I then went back to my original seat and tried to eat their old/dry and at times brown sushi off of their revolving belt. I travel for a living and I eat at lots of sushi places and this was easily the poorest quality of sushi that I've eaten. The sushi was warm at times, when it should have been cold and I honestly question their food safety and handling. As I was finishing up, I asked Shane who his manager was and he IMMEDIATELY GOT HOSTILE, and told me to pay up and leave. He did this in front of his manager and the manager couldn't control Shane's erratic meltdown. Shane then challenged me to a fight (in front of his manager) and said meet him at Rickies or Ricky's after work. I couldn't believe it!?!? This Shane guy is a idiot, there were children that heard this and people were rolling their eyes at the guy. Anyways, all of the unprofessional hostility aside; their food is garbage (see other Yelp reviews). The seaweed salad was poor tasting and actually hot because it rode their belts for hours, the rolls were loaded with rice to save on costs, the cuts of fish were small, the bathroom was filthy, and their items were overpriced. Amazing Service! The servers here are unbelievably nice and eager to help. It's actually refreshing to see such level of service. The food is pretty good too! They have lots of vegetarian options including sushi as well as other non-sushi items. My favorite is the fireball (vegetarian version) and the spicy garden crunch. I think the sushi station in rolling meadows is way better. They offer the same food but the atmosphere is noticeably different. They don't have the $1.25 lunch specials on the belt (pre-pandemic)) and when I ordered the 2 piece fried Godzilla rolls, it was TINY. The Elgin location is like 4 times the size, so when I've gone in, I've had zero waiting time. I've been to the Sushi Station in Rolling Meadows years ago and I don't remember the quality of the sushi but I just remembered that it was a fun concept with the idea of grabbing your sushi off the conveyor belt. Unfortunately, this visit may be my last visit at Sushi Station as the quality of the sushi and value and price were not worth the lunch visit. We went here on a Saturday around 11:30 when it opened and it was already packed with people. We were greeted immediately and got a table right away which was nice since it got crowded and people were waiting for a table. You can order sushi and other items off the menu or pick up sushi from the conveyor belt. I decided to pick up sushi from the conveyor belt because I liked the concept of choosing the sushi that I wanted right away. The sushi plates are priced per plate, with white being the cheapest at $1.25 to a purple plate at $6.25. I mostly saw blue plates at $3.25 which weren't too expensive and reasonable. The white plates I saw were cucumber rolls, which is not worth it unless you want a few pieces of cucumber wrapped in rice. I never saw a purple plate but I did see the next most expensive plate which is the yellow plate $5.25 for 2 pieces of King Crab on rice. I picked the shrimp tempura which was disappointing because there was barely any shrimp in it and more of the crunchy tempura on top of it. I really wanted to like the spicy tuna since it is one of my favorites when I go to a sushi restaurant but this just didn't taste good. It was too mushy and they put too much spicy mayo. While I didn't enjoy the sushi as much, I did like the Oreo dream bar for dessert and the gyoza for a side dish. The shrimp Shu Mai was too greasy but it was better than the sushi. My boyfriend described it perfectly when he said the sushi reminded him of the ready made sushi that you can pick up at a grocery store. The quality of sushi here is poor. What do you expect when the sushi sits on the conveyor belt for who knows long? Unlike other sushi places, you don't see the sushi being made in front of you but you do see the same sushi rotating around for an unknown time period. We spent around $18 each for the sushi but for the value and quality of the sushi, this is not worth the price. You're better off going to AYCE sushi elsewhere for $20 with higher quality sushi. The concept of a rotating sushi restaurant is fun but I wish the quality of the sushi was just as good as the concept. read more

They tried to charge me an additional 50¢ for a cup of soy sauce after I had ordered 4 rolls of sushi and they gave me one flimsy tiny packet of soy sauce (like the ones from Panda Express) ... I begrudgingly agreed to pay it because I was in a hurry and starving, but then the girl at the counter claimed she couldn't charge any less than a dollar in their system. This is the most ABSURD thing I've ever heard. If you can't physically even ring up 50¢ in your system then maybe you shouldn't be charging it in the first place. Sushi Station is consistently incredible. Their sushi is fairly priced, good sized, and always delicious. Every time I go to this restaurant, I leave happy and satisfied. Their service is great too. Very nice staff who are helpful. During the pandemic, their takeout has been excellent. I am very impressed with their cleanliness and the system they have set up to still serve customers. I've been a long-time frequent diner at the Sushi Station in Rolling Meadows, and after visiting the location in Elgin, I didn't realize how much I've been! This location is about 4 of the Rolling Meadows location combined. This puppy looks like it's on 'roids compared to the tiny sister location. The conveyor is long winding maze full of fresh sushi, appetizers, and desserts. We went around 8:30 at night and since it wasn't peak time, the chefs were not putting new dishes on the menu. Awesome they don't allow dishes to go around and around rotting, but bummer we didn't get to pull all of our plates ourselves. But - our server was happy to bring us whatever we wanted off the menu. If you haven't experienced Kaiten-sushi, it's something you have to do at least once. So, hop in the car and head to Sushi Station. The little colored plates, tasty bites, and overall experience will make you and your belly happy. read more
