This place is a true hidden gem! Stopped here on my way home on a whim after a VERY long day and came in with 0 expectations. The restaurant was bright, clean, and well decorated and the woman behind the counter who served me who I can only assume owned it, was the sweetest and nicest person I've dealt with in a long time; she was kind, patient, attentive, and genuinely interested in making sure I understood the menu and was satisfied with my order and having a great experience. Onto the food; frequent Poke Bros and have had higher end poke at a few upscale places, this was a MUCH better experience than all of them, every item packed into my bowl was fresh, well prepared, and craveworthy delicious! I will be recommending this place to my friends and family and I'll likely be back at least once a week, very good quality and I wish them all the best and tons of success! I urge you to try Poke West if you're a poke fan and near by. I think you'll agree it's worth my hype.

    Actually Fish Soup. Tastes great.

I'm not sure why there aren't more Hawaiian restaurants around Chicagoland because I find Hawaiian…read morecuisine to be delicious. Even if we don't consider its rarity, Da Local Boy is a winner in every category. The prices are very fair for the enormous portion sizes, the decor is fun and appropriate, the service is friendly, and food is phenomenal both in flavors and textures. The only possible criticisms are that the space is a bit small for how popular this spot gets, and the parking in the area can be a bit limited around popular meal times. The food here shines, making it worth a special trip -- both again for the rarity but also the quality. For me, the poke nachos are a must order item, just the perfect mix of large chunks of tuna with super crispy wontons, fresh avocado, and a good helping of sauce. Amongst friends, we've agreed that this is a must order item. The huli huli chicken is also unreal in flavor and texture. Besides being marinated and sauced well, the chicken is melt in your mouth tender while simultaneously having a delicious crisp skin. Think brick chicken, but with more flavor and a much better price. The rice and macaroni salad that accompany this are also well done -- and feel more like a core part of the meal rather than an afterthought. The grilled pork is pretty good as well, though I kind of wish it wasn't sliced as thin, as certain pieces felt a bit dry. The spam musubi with a light touch of furikake also provided a flavorful, fun dish to accompany the other delicious items I tried. Overall, delicious and consistently surprises me with the quality of the execution and bold flavor combinations. This is on my top places to visit in the area and has never disappointed.

The vibe is also awesome with a great reggae playlist and welcoming staff. Literally every single bite was so good but my favorites had to be the short ribs, chicken katsu, and poke. These mac salad was a little sweet but it definitely worked well especially with the heavier mains of the plate. Poke was really fresh btw and def had my eye on the poke nachos so gotta go back! Def a must try for anyone craving real Hawaiian food in Chicago!

I think they have just had a soft open so far and are working out the flow. The staff that was at the bar helped me navigate how to order via the QR code on the table and it was easy to place and pay for my order (and include tip) before getting our food. They got us water and made us feel very at ease. Grabbed our own plate and to-go box which was actually kinda nice to be able to come and go at our own pace, even though I felt a little awkward (could just be a me thing lol). They have an arcade in the back section which looks really fun! There's also a stage area where it looks like they can set up for live music, etc. Good set up with TVs in the bar area and looks like they have some interesting brews on tap. The "soft open menu" has a lot of options with dogs and burgers and loaded fries. I chose the Road Rash dog which is basically a chili cheese dog but with tons of sour cream and bacon on top. I got it without any onions but it does come with onion scallions and tomatoes in addition to the cheese and chili. The chili had great flavor! The hot dog had the perfect snap to it and the bun was SO SOFT yet had a little crisp on the outside. It is MASSIVE! I could only finish half of it - so if you visit, come hungry! The French fries I gave to my kiddo since he's not much into hot dogs but I did try a couple for good measure they were big and very flavorful. They were cooked just right - not soggy or overcooked. I only gave the 4 because I was just a little confused on seating ourselves and ordering at first... If I could do half stars I would go up to 4.5. Going strictly on flavor, it's a 5! The food definitely speaks for itself - worth the $12 for a gourmet hotdog in my opinion. I would for sure come back with the rest of the family or even just to try some of their drinks. This place IS LEGIT.
