While the sushi itself is decent and satisfying, the sashimi is where the kitchen truly shines. Ordered the Sashimi platter multiple times which is supposed to come with approx 15 pieces. However I've never had less than 25. Great portion The space is on the smaller side and somewhat dark, which may not be the most inviting setting, but it remains perfectly serviceable for a casual meal. We came for the lunch AYCE menu and it did not disappoint! We were so impressed with the quality of the fish, portion sizes, and presentation. The nigiri was fresh and we appreciated that the rice was the perfect proportion to the fish size unlike some other AYCE we have experienced. (Highly recommend the salmon and eel!!) For rolls we tried the new Chicago, Volcano, American Dream, Spider roll, and Rainbow. All the rolls had generous portions of fish and were beautifully made. We would come back for the Chicago roll alone! The homemade gyoza was also the best we have had in the area and surrounding areas. Delicious! The cherry on top was the wonderful service from Meili and Amy . At no point did we feel rushed despite coming in a half hour before the end of the lunch menu. The waitress was consistently checking in on us and our yummy iced green teas never went empty. We are looking forward to coming back for the dinner menu and the reasonably priced beers and wines. This place is near me, been open a year or more, haven't been cause I can take or leave sushi. But they delivered a menu to the mailbox and I noted that they offer a wide variety of Asian dishes in addition to sushi and sashimi. The menu mailer says to order from GrubHub or DoorDash, I tried the former first because delivery is free for Amazon Prime, but the restaurant wasn't listed. So I went with DoorDash, no complaints there, delivered on time and per my instructions. A couple of problems with the order. I ordered "spring rolls" and they sent "egg rolls." I ordered shrimp tempura and they sent veggie tempura. They sent two pouches of crunchy noodles, no idea why. Soups were good, both won ton and hot and sour, tho the former broth was a little meek. Shrimp fried rice and fried dumplings were good. I'd try them again, but I'd order at the restaurant. BTW, they have "all you can eat" sushi plans too, if you're into that kind of thing. read more

I've only done the AYCE here and, for what it is, it's quite enjoyable sushi for the price. Service is casually prompt--if that makes any sense. Not the sort of place that rushes you out the door but prompt enough that you're not left hanging or wondering if your next plate of tasty got lost somewhere. It makes for a delightful place to leisurely eat and enjoy the friends and family at your table. The quality of the fish is nice and the rolls are well made. The selections you get are nicely diverse and surely you'll find favorites--plural--to love on either the lunch or dinner menu. The staff is always very good. No issues there. There are places that are a bit better but they're nowhere near Algonquin so, really, this is the place to go in the area. Kumi is near-ish and their fish and prep is perhaps better but their selection for AYCE pales by comparison. Go, really, go hungry and load up on tasty, well made sushi. There is a good selection of nigiri including all the usual suspects Tamago, Salmon Sushi, Tuna Sushi, Yellowtail Sushi, and of course Unagi. I can't speak to rolls. Third time here..first two times were fine..but this time waitress is a little off..younger gal working nice when speaking English, but then turns around to complain about customers when she thinks I don't understand in a different language. We always stop by this place whenever we're in Chi-town. It actually has been a tradition to eat here at least once before we head back to NY. The food and price is what keeps us coming to this place. Both sushi and sashimi are prepared with fresh ingredients, are tasty, and had a good balance of meat-to-rice. My personal fave is the tuna sushi mmmm. They also have a regular menu aside from AYCE. They're not strict and do not force everyone on the table to do AYCE - you can actually mix and match (order from the menu while others opt for AYCE). read more

After reading many reviews and wanting to try out an all you can eat sushi place I ended up at Sushi King. At first glance the exterior doesn't look that great, right next to a jimmy johns, and its kinda hidden in the strip. But once you walk inside the decor is appealing. It wasn't too busy for a Monday night so I was seated right away. It looked kinda like a mom and pop place which is always a plus even though it seems to be a chain(?) So for service I was seated right away, got my drink right away and handed a menu, I wasnt bothered by her overly approaching me while looking over and seeing what they had. I filled out the first round and she was prompt to getting my order in. So service was 5/5. For the food all I can say is the ika was delicious! It was flavorful and perfectly cooked, not too chewy and tough! Because it was so tasty I ended up ordering it in a 2nd round. Their rolls on the slightly smaller side, but that's a good thing if you want to try variety! Both of them flavorful. I tried their basic pieces of inar, tamago, and unagi, I'd have them all again if I wasn't so full at that point. The last thing I had ordered was their Sunomono which was lightly vinagred sashimi in subtly sweet sauce, making a wonderful blend. the Sashimi melted in the mouth it was so fresh and had no fishy smell emanating from it. 6/5 for food. Over all I'd say I'm coming back to try more and I recommend it for others to try as well. What's not to like? The all you can eat sushi here is $15.99 for lunch and $21.99 for dinner. The difference between the two is the selection... for dinner you have at least a dozen, or more options. If you come close to 3:00pm they give the option of going with either the lunch or the dinner menu so you can check out both before you commit. As with most AYCE sushi joints, everything is made to order, so as a basic standard, the sushi should taste fresh... and it did! In fact, one thing I like here versus local competitors is that the selection is much more diverse in options. I like that you can grab a Pepper Tuna Salad or Ika Yaki (with the dinner menu), in addition to dozens of rolls and nigiri. The last thing that I'll add is that they are very friendly here, where they check in often, but in a kind and patient way. We (me and my husband) are a big fan of Sushi and always try to explore different places even though we have to drive a good mile for it. This place we found is almost half an hour drive from our place but worth the drive. I feel the place was a little darker but not too bad. We went at around 2.30 pm so we were the only people and I guess they have only one server who is trying to hustle everything. We ordered Miso Soup, Crab Rangoon and Gyoza as appetizers they were all good. Miso soup was hot and good. Gyoza was a little under fried so had to ask them to redo. Crab Rangoon was also good. We ordered all sorts of roll there. They were all good, my husband liked the Godzilla so much that he ordered it again. Size of the rolls in general were smaller as compared to other places but were rolled with less rice so the taste and flavor of the rolls were coming on point. I would definitely be coming back. We've ordered takeout from here a few times, and the food was always decent. Last week we ordered again, while having company over, and the entire experience was awful. I arrived 2 minutes after the order was scheduled to be ready, and it wasn't ready. I had to wait another 15 minutes for our order to be completed. Additionally, half the order came out 10 minutes early, and got cold sitting on the stainless steel table (especially the crab rangoon). We received 3 orders of crab rangoon instead of 2 orders of crab rangoon and an order of pot stickers. The mongolian beef was mostly onions and had very little beef. The sushi was OK. I would recommend sticking to fried rice if you must order from here. They got that one right. As for the decor, the atmosphere is not very good. There are restaurant supplies stacked everywhere. At least put up a shoji screen or other divider to shield the dining area from the bathroom hallway and storage area in the back. As it is now, I would not eat here if I was on a date night looking for a nice dinner. How about the service? Not good. No greeting. No smile. No personality. No friendliness. She didn't read back our order to confirm it was right, she just bagged it and stapled it shut. We bought food for 4 people and we got one set of chopsticks and three fortune cookies. The endless sushi wasn't a bad deal and there was a large number of different rolls and appetizers. The sushi is decent. Some rolls were rather bland. Nothing to write home about but a couple were pretty tasty. Big negative was the staff and the kitchen. One person in our party ordered a chicken entree and did not receive the item until 15 minutes before we left, more than an hour after the others had received theirs. One person did not get their endless sushi at all. We asked about it and they said they lost the ticket so he needs to make a new one. And then they only brought half the ticket. Huge con was the way the waitress was screaming at the rest of the staff. She was not speaking English or Spanish so we didn't know what she was saying but she was full on yelling at people the whole time while being 5 feet from us. It was very off-putting . Most places have everything out and you grab and go but this place allows you to order off the menu and have it made fresh and delivered to your table. Great selection of appetizers and tons of different sushi and sashimi options. My favorites were definitely the Godzilla Roll along with the Scallops and Crab Claws. My only gripe with this place was that they only had one server working the night I went. Make no mistake, she was friendly and never stopped hustling but I could see if a few more people showed up, it could have affected the service. I'm not sure where to start... the food was relatively okay consistent with the other location except the squid. They burned the spices so instead of a nice salt and pepper taste it was charred. My real issue was that I have literally never been in an establishment that I felt unwelcomed in. This establishment was fairly unwelcoming. My son ordered his usual which he's 6 so it seems like a lot but he's athletic. He can put away a lot of food (for his size). I can't complain to much they don't add extra rice etc... To the dishes but they did forget some items which we had to order multiple times just to get our original first order. Which Im not sure was on purpose or accident.‍ Either way it was mildly annoying and added to the unwelcome feeling. Before we could order what we wanted for our second, they quickly brought out the check. I'm not exactly an all you eats nightmare a salad, small appetizer, couple rolls and fish over rice etc. (Fairly normal.) It really made me feel like an unappreciated customer, at least in this location. I get times are hard but even if we didn't finish what we ordered i would've happily paid the extra. We do at the other location just to help out a little where we can, times are difficult. I hope it was an accident and not out of fear we would finish it. I don't think I will be going back any time soon to this location. I'm hoping it was just an off day for them. But I don't really feel like paying to find out. Ok in the past this wasn't a bad place for the price. We went back after the pandemic the first thing you see is how dirty the place has become. The price of all you can eat went up the server was overwhelmed with 3 tables. The quality of the food has suffered greatly. I could not recommend them anymore.
