King of the sea soup
Cathy R.

After spending the day on the beach, we decided to stop on the way home when we saw sushi Siam. Before anything I would like to state that I love sushi!!! I've been a sushi lover since I was a little kid so when I saw sushi on the beach, I assumed it would be great and more than anything fresh. Unfortunately, this was not the case. When we arrived, we entered the establishment and spoke to who I assumed was the host and asked if we could sit outside. He responded yes you can take a seat at the empty table. When we approached the table there were dirty plates stacked up on it, so we decided to wait and give them a few minutes to pick them up. Once the table was cleared, we sat, and the host brought us the menu. About 15 minutes later the host came to take our order me being in the service industry wasn't surprised because you could tell they were a little busy. We ordered two soups, the king of the sea and a miso soup, edamame, and two sake bombs. The king of the sea was brought out first followed by the edamame with a bottle of sake. My miso soup never made it to the table and the sake was never a bomb. As for the king of the sea it is this place saving grace it was flavorful with a nice amount oof lemon grass and spice full of large pieces of shrimp, muscles, squid, imitation crab, and mushrooms this soup really was a delight. About 30 min later a server came to the table to take our order and stated that she was sorry for the wait and that the restaurant was busier than usual. We simply replied that it was ok and that we weren't in a rush. We ordered the seafood curry which both me and my husband are very big fans of and try it anywhere that offers it. In addition, we ordered a JB roll and a volcano roll, both are some of my favorites and simple rolls. Got simple hoping they wouldn't mess it up since they were busy. The curry was brought out first and then the two rolls shortly after. The curry was a huge disappointment. The flavor was bland with very little curry flavor at all, the seafood was all over cooked. The squid was rubbery and tuff, the lobster was so over done that we couldn't get it out of the shell which was cut in half. The shrimp was hard, this dish comes with a side of white rice the top of the rice was hard as well. As for the sushi rolls, the seaweed on both rolls were chewy almost gum like. The salmon in the JB roll was not fresh. We waited about 30-40 minutes before anyone came back to our table. My husband suggested we order desert since we didn't eat half the food we ordered, and he figured how bad can desert be. So, we ordered the Thai donuts they were a little greasy but way better than dinner, so we ate them. After waiting another half hour, we asked the server for the bill which she already had in hand. We opened the bill, placed the card in the check presenter and sat for another 15 minutes before having to walk the check to the server inside. Overall, this was a bad experience the food was not good at all apart from the soup and maybe the Thai donuts but who goes to a sushi restaurant for soup and Thai donuts only. The service was terrible, even if you're busier than usual the manager should be out there helping you know all-hands-on deck. No one delivered. I hope this place can work on service and the execution of the menu. Cant have bad service and bad food ya gotta have one or the other.

Sushi Siam is one of our go to weekly places. Always a hit in our family. We mostly get sushi, but also thai entrees from time to time. I like ordering nigiri by the pieces and compliment with various rolls and hand rolls. For entrees, we like cashew chicken, steamed veg, chicken with broccoli, ginger/basil chicken, and special fried rice. All absolutely exquisite and will have enough left overs for the week! When hungry for japenese and/or thai and in KB, look no further than Sushi Siam! Kampai!

Didn't taste very fresh. Wouldn't of know this sushi was from Florida, taste like my restaurants back in Indiana.

Sushi Siam is in the heart of Key Biscayne, so I expected a cute place in the corner of a shopping center. To my surprise, it was quite elegant, dim lit, and semi-fancy with white table cloths and padded seats and booths. I was relieved that it wasn't like every other Thai restaurant with the traditional wooden decorations and wooden furniture EVERYWHERE. BUT they had maybe one statement piece on the wall. The atmosphere was comfortable and quite enough to talk amongst your table. The sushi bar is in the back corner and pretty open. Also, toward the restroom was a wine cellar/shelving area so you can see the types of wines they carry. Aside from the ambiance, the food menu was very extensive. This is something to be expected from a Thai-Japanese fusion place. The menu was well organized and I was able to look for what without confusion. I went with a group of people so we all ordered different things: Appetizer (presented in a giant ice box) Sashimi mori: 16 pieces of tuna, salmon, yellow tail, and escolar $27 Entrees (gives soup/salad & white/brown rice options) Fried lobster and steak teriyaki with white rice $27 N.Y. steak & chicken teriyaki with white rice $23 Beef panang medium spicy with brown rice $19.95 Siam connection (chicken & shrimp & cashew) with white rice $19.95 Sushi rolls Dynamite roll Hot JB (Japanese bagel) roll Special Dragon roll Chef's choice Everything was delicious and presented beautifully. I ordered the Beef panang because it's one of my favorite Thai curry dishes. It was quite tasty but I wished the beef was a bit more tender. I can only compare it to Sukhothai in Tampa because it's similar but not as perfect. Everyone who had the teriyaki dishes said that the meat was too tough/dry to eat. That's something that can be overlooked but not ok for a place like this. The sushi was pretty good. Everything about it was beautifully made and delicious, but pretty common. It wasn't memorable to me. The service was friendly and polite and we got our food pretty quickly. Overall, I liked the place to try it again if I'm ever in the area. But would get take out. Their take out looked busy constantly. And for the price, it is a tad expensive mostly because of the area and it's Miami.

My kids vomited the beef

This su Sunday oct 2, I went with my family to the restaurant because we were regular clients. My 3 kids asked for a beef teriyaki. They said that the taste was different and smell so bad. When I try the beef was rotten!! and the smell was terrible. They just say sorry when it's so delicate the health of my kids. I won't come back to this business.

Liked the place. The servers are pleasant and prompt. The food was good but slightly above average in pricing.

Great food and consistent quality at a place that's been around for a long time. It's not cheap but it's guaranteed to be good.

The service was exceptional and the recommendations were fantastic. To drink, I ordered the Tinta De Lima, recommended by my very friendly, incredibly kind server, Mauri. The drink was refreshing, sweet, and tart. I sat at the bar and asked the chefs, Jefferson and Yunier, what their favorite sushi platters were. They recommended the Truffle Maki, the Soy Crab, the Parmesan, the Maki Furai, and the Miraflores. I went with the Maki Furai, and this dish did NOT disappoint. This dish has salmon, cream cheese and avocado coated in crispy panko and tare sauce. The sushi roll was savory, flavorful and delicious. Honestly, it was one of the best sushi rolls I've ever had, and I don't say that lightly. It wasn't as crispy as I was hoping it would be, but I did add some crispy phyllo on top and that did the trick. Jefferson recommended I try it with Spicy Mayo, and while it didn't need ANY sauce.. the addition did elevate the dish quite nicely and added a bit of a kick that was pleasant to the tongue. For desert, one of the servers that came by to clear my plate, Krei, recommended that I try the Shapiro Limeño. This dish was creamy, smooth and sweet. It has lemongrass manjar, milk reduction, and meringue. The temperature was interesting since some spoonfuls were cold and others were room temperature. I personally wish the base were cold throughout since it made the dessert more interesting. However, it was still enjoyable. Overall, I'm genuinely impressed and excited to come back and try more dishes. Thank you to the entire staff for curating such a memorable experience. I will 1000% be back.

The ambience is secluded and warm without losing its chic feeling. The two chefs had a great personality and we had great conversations. The food was absolutely amazing. Each course had a completely distinct flavor profile and played off one another very well. None where so over powering that it made the other seem bland. Extremely well balanced with amazing flavors. For a nice night out. We normally check the Michelin Guide first but there's none for Miami so we decided to browse through Tock for fun. This was how we stumbled upon Sushi Bar and we are so glad we did! The price point of $185 per seating is super worth it. You get a lot of fish and they are very creative with each nigiri. Their spin on it shows their creative side (with Miami flavors) but is not super over the top and sauce does not drown out the freshness of the fish. Something that stood out to me was how they shaved frozen monkfish liver as a topping. I wanna go back just for that!! They also had some pieces where they smoked the fish. Besides the food, I thought it was very creative how they welcomed guests with a welcome drink at the hotel bar. This was so unique! We finished ours early, and had some of their other drinks - they were all very good! Once they're ready, a server came to get us from the hotel bar and led us through an alleyway to a separate building which was where the actual omakase was taking place. The atmosphere was dark and gave off speakeasy vibes, which I thought was different to other omakase places. Bar is spacious enough to still have private conversations. We did the beverage pairing and we really appreciated the sommelier's knowledge. Overall, we would want to come back again for another tasting experience!!
