Delicious sushi in SE Boise. My family and I have dined in person and gotten takeout from here and each time the quality of the food was excellent. They have a great variety of rolls and the service staff are welcoming and hospitable. The indoor dining space is small, but even when it's at full capacity it doesn't feel overcrowded. And there is also a little patio area that is great to sit at when the weather is nice. There is also a great selection of adult beverages to choose from as well as beer, wine, and of course sake. My kids like their chicken teriyaki and sticky rice and of course California Rolls. This is a great local spot in SE Boise and we will definitely be back. read more

We normally have a great experience so hoping to update this review in the future. Our service was terrible today, it is Mother's Day but it was not busy (maybe 4 full tables total inside/outside). The server was rude and treated us like any question or order we had was an inconvenience to her. She didn't give us menus for about 15 min, upset when we asked for chopsticks when our food came out, upset when we asked for low sodium soy sauce and frustrated when we asked for soy sauce saucers (little plates). She spent some time talking with another table and kept joking with them that they're not even her table. For reference, we have never been served by her before and come often. We waited a long time for our check too which isn't a deal breaker. Overall just a crummy experience and hoping management sees this to help train any new staff. read more

We love sushi shack! Great rolls, lots of choices, and a fabulous variety of drinks as well. We prefer this location over the meridian location as the service seems to be a bit friendlier, and rolls are more consistent, they also go heavier on the sauce, yum! We also find this location to be brighter with a nice variety of seating options. The rolls always taste fresh and are a great blend of flavors. The Sushi Shack is our go-to for sushi in the eastend. Their rolls are creative and delicious. Somehow, we frequently end up with a chef's creation of that day. Large sashimi boat has been fantastic every time and was really great when we could choose Ora King! I think the Ora King now has to be ordered separately. Wanted a quick bite to eat. Little after 8 o'clock. Look this place up. Had a nice reviews. So I gave it a try. It's a little bit tough to find. Just keep your eyes open. You'll spot it. Now, for the good, Went in, told Ty (the sushi chef) give me three of your favorites. And then I had some of the best sushi I have ever had. Nice casual cute little place. Owner was there and he was hilarious. The whole staff was joking and laughing and having fun. Just exactly the attitude I needed when I went in. After traveling all day. Could not be happier. At least 20 minutes until a waitress acknowledged us, same to get our food-place wasn't too busy, waitress never checked back after dropping off food. We love good sushi, but nothing memorable about the sushi rolls- we had 5 different ones --they all tasted the same, nothing stood out, whisky soy sauce....normal soy sauce taste. Sushi was mediocre at best. Service maybe just a bad nite, but disappointing to see the tip default at payout at 25%.... I was excited to try their sushi, but the experience fell short due to one glaring issue: way too much rice. Every roll ordered was almost entirely overwhelmed by massive portions of rice, making it hard to taste the fish or other ingredients. Sushi is supposed to be about balance--delicate flavors coming together in harmony--but here, the rice dominated everything. The fish was barely noticeable, both in quantity and taste, which left the sushi feeling bland and one-dimensional. The rice itself was also a bit underwhelming--overly sticky and not seasoned properly, making it more of a filler than an enhancement to the meal. Most of the rolls we ordered listed avocado yet only one piece of the roll actually had a slice of avocado on it! Why? It's disappointing when what should be a simple yet refined dish becomes unbalanced. Unfortunately, I didn't leave feeling like I got my money's worth. If you're looking for quality sushi with a proper balance of ingredients, this might not be the place. This review focuses on the imbalance in the sushi, which detracted from the overall experience. I hate to give a bad review, but this place truly deserved it. The host was very sweet and sat us at the bar. It took about 20 minutes for our waiter to even come over and acknowledge us. We placed our order and waited roughly 45 minutes while waiting we watched our food sit out for 20 of those minutes without being taken to us. We had to personally grab our own soy sauce cups after she brought me soy sauce. At the very end of my meal, one of the chefs dropped his sushi roller into my food knocking my last roll onto the ground. No hate to him because he apologized but did not offer reimbursement. Mistakes happen but it seemed like they could've at least comped the roll. Unfortunate outing for my and my bf. Will not be returning. read more

Too many sushi bars have very, very similar tried and true menus, but here the chef puts a unique and very tasteful twist on everything.
