If you are looking for the absolute WORST sushi experience in the entire Treasure Valley, congratulations, you found it. I have never dealt with such atrocious service & their Sushi was subpar at best & that's being generous. Right out of the gate, it was a total disaster. The waitress brought absolutely nothing to the table--no utensils, no ginger, no wasabi, nothing. You know, the standard basics that literally every other sushi joint on the planet drops off on autopilot? We had to literally request every single item just to physically eat our meal. Then came the food--or whatever you want to call it. I specifically asked if I could swap tuna for yellowtail and asked about getting what I actually liked instead of just settling for "chef's choice." They completely ignored me & brought the exact opposite of what I ordered. Nothing we got was correct. My guest ordered a lobster and fish roll, and they handed her a plate of literal, unidentifiable mush. There were no actual pieces of fish or lobster to be found anywhere in it. Just mush. And the scam they pulled with the ikura was unbelievable. I ordered two portions, which is supposed to be four pieces total, which again is commonly standard at any other Sushi restaurant. Instead, they brought out two pieces. When I pointed it out, the manager actually came over to our table to argue with me, insisting I was going to be charged full price for half the food. Literally $5ea for 1 piece of Sashimi that tasted like shit. Outside of the painfully incompetent service and the manager's garbage attitude, the fish had no flavor, They didn't even bring out all the food we ordered, but we were so fed up and disgusted by that point that we just paid the bill and walked out. I don't know if this is how they run their business every single day, but it was bad enough to warrant this warning. There are plenty of incredible sushi spots around here. Do not waste your time or your money at this absolute trainwreck of a restaurant. I guarantee I will never step foot in this place again. read more

I have been wanting to try this place out for a while so tonight was the night! I have been to their Steakhouse a couple times but never this location. After driving around trying to find a way in since the main road to this place is closed, I finally made my way to the restaurant. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Walking up to the joint you notice how bright it is! There's a huge screen in the front that omits a ton of light. It's pretty cool[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. I was instantly greeted by the sweetest host. She sat me at the sushi bar since I was eating by myself. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This place was buzzin for a Friday night! People everywhere happy and eating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My first server came up to me. Didn't really greet me or ask if I wanted something to drink. Asked me right away if I was ready for order. I was a little thrown off at how abrasive she was but I let it go since they were busy. I ordered my soup, Cali handroll and some crab rangoons with her. After she placed my order she came out quickly with my soda and hot and sour soup. She walked off before I could get a chance to ask for napkins and utensils. I asked the hostess, Yooa for a setting and she was so apologetic about my server being so short and abrasive. She asked if I wanted another server so she was kind to take over my service. I'm honestly happy she did! She was amazing. She is honestly one of the sweetest people I have ever met! She was very warm and engaging. We need more people like Yooa out in the world. For dinner I started with the hot and sour soup. It was decent. I appreciated all the woodear mushrooms and tofu in it. It did lack flavor but a little soy sauce helped. It had a good amount of heat. You don't notice it in the beginning but after a few bites the heat catches up to you. Yooa was kind and grabbed me a bowl of miso soup to make up for the interaction earlier. I enjoyed the soup very much! It was hot, salty and had a good amount of nori in it! The Cali handroll wasn't the most pleasant looking. They slapped it together really. Everything was shoved in and bulky. It tasted fine but esthetically it wasn't pleasing. The crab rangoons came out hot! They do use a thicker wrapper for the rangoons so the wrapper wasn't light and crunchy, it was pretty dense. The cream cheese and crab in the middle was savory and delicious! They are even good cold. My meal was decent but it was the amazing service from Yooa and Shelly tonight. Shelly checked up on me and couple times to help out Yooa and she was great! Not so good an experience that we left here eager to return but good enough that we will try again sometime. PARKING: Starting with this because one of the advantages of the location is it has a parking lot. Too small at busy times, marginal for food Italian'ish place Caci is next door and it draws a bar crowd at busy times, but there is one as benefit. [[HIGHLIGHT]]VIBE: Remodeled from a short lived fast casual Mediterranean chain eatery (Taziki) that was the original occupant of the space, they've done a good job of creating a Japanese theme[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Although, in that music helps set a mood we found it odd on the day of our visit that there was a pop music mix of 1970's era, at least as I remember it from those days myself (fun to be able to sing along to) but not something in theme for the menu and design.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Also, while it was a chilly day outside, the temperature inside felt near sweltering with heat turned up.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Will either tunes or temp be the same on a different visit? We don't know that yet. [[HIGHLIGHT]]SEATING: High sushi counter bar chairs. Standard height tables and chairs in front of the restaurant. Booths along side wall. And my hubby noted on the walk to the loo at the back of the space there was table and chair seating along the back wall leading there[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. Hmmm. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There is outdoor patio at the back of the eatery but the sun orientation is such that it is hot as Hades in summer since it is not covered.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] MENU & FOOD: No teppanyaki grills here as at the Meridian located mothership but otherwise the menu is similar for a majority of Japanese food items with some Thai and Chinese options (Izumi owners are Chinese) and even a nod to Korea with a kimchi soup selection. Sushi, noodles, soups, salads and entrees in prices from $5'ish to over $30. We tried our usual "first time in" options; tempura, salad with carrot ginger dressing, a roll and udon noodles. All were fine. We had tea but noted wine, beer and cocktail menu. SERVICE: The host had no greeting other than to ask "Two?" as we entered and without another word walked us to a booth without asking if we would prefer to sit at the front with tables. The server almost literally shuffled along as she approached to take our order, as if she would rather be any place else, but forgiven as we interpreted this as shyness not ennui. We got a kick out of the delivery robot that delivered our food, with her alongside, but that is schtick and we'd much prefer friendly, human service. Still, I can see the robot being an attraction for some. ACCESSIBILITY: ADA parking in the lot. Level in the door from the sidewalk. All on one floor. I couldn't tell if the space between the tables in the main dining room or the tables themselves met ADA for clear floor space. I didn't check the bathrooms but given this building is 2019'ish built, one assumes compliance. OPTIONS FOR SUSHI NEARBY: There is a little, as in tiny space, family run sushi eatery called Kingfisher that is also in Eagle. So small that one is better with take out than dine in but friendly people and good food. Another bonus for Kingfisher is that it is in the same complex as The Chocolat Bar and one can pop in for lemon sorbetto as dessert after the Kingfisher eats. read more

Service was terrible. We had to get our own chopsticks and napkins from the sushi bar after our food was dropped off. We were seated in the back and one of the waitstaff just complained and chided the hostess over how guest were being seated. It was hostile and I felt bad for the hostess plus it's a very uncomfortable to hear those types of conversations as a patron. The sushi was pretty good. The hibachi chicken and steak was disgusting. I would complain that the portions were small but since they were inedible that didn't matter. read more

Izumi in Meridian has become a favorite of my family. The Eagle location is completely different. Food: 4/5. My husband got the sushi and sashimi for 1 (although we shared) and said it was the best sushi he's had in Idaho. I'm not usually one for Sashimi but I thought it was delicious! We started with the crab Rangoon, which was just ok. It didn't seem like it was cooked enough. Some parts were really hot while some parts were still cold. The plum wine was sweet and delicious. The hot sake was not great. Overall, a pretty mixed experience food-wise. Service: 4/5. Our waitress was very nice and we could tell that she was new before she told us she was new. We saw a couple of waiters sing happy birthday at a nearby table with a really loud gong and it was just really unpleasant and awkward. The gentleman that took our tab after we ate was very nice as well. Again, a mixed experience. Atmosphere: 4/5. Based on the location and nearby restaurants I was expecting more of a fast casual type vibe, however this is very much a sit down restaurant and took just as long as the original restaurant (if not longer). The screen up front is interesting and had a "happy Valentine's Day" message when we first walked in. Kid friendly: 3/5. We did not take our kids here and I'm kind of glad we did not. This is definitely more geared towards adults and i wouldn't necessarily recommend taking younger kids. We didn't see any kids while we were here either and I didn't notice high chairs or a kids menu but wasn't really looking that hard. Overall, a mixed experience. Wow how awesome this place is. We are from out of town and I am here for work but also the wife came for us to celebrate our 24th wedding anniversary dinner. We found this restaurant on Yelp and said what the heck lets try it. We are so thankful we did! We sat at the sushi bar in front of Yoky and he was wonderful. The sushi was very fresh and Yoky was so helpful when I asked for items not on the menu. He knew how to make them the original item. They even have a fun robot that can deliver food and you check. Very cool. Nice section of different dishes both cooked and fresh. The fish is well prepared and the chef (forgot his name) did a great job. The wife had a bento box that was excellent. The service was excellent. I was so excited to have a sushi place open up right across the street from where I work. I stopped in to get an order to go for lunch off the lunch special menu. I got two rolls for $11.59. They're still working out some of the kinks, but overall the ambiance and service was really nice. I got a couple of my standard favorite rolls, spicy tuna and eel avocado. The spicy tuna, although not exceptional, was still good. The eel avocado roll was excellent. I really appreciate that their sticky rice was actually sticky and cooked to translucent perfection. I'm sure I'll be getting a lot of my lunches from this location. I can't wait to try some of the other items on their lunch menu. read more

We visited this restaurant a few days ago for the 3rd time and this time was very disappointing. We ordered Lobster & Scallops Hibachi. They inserted a Lobster shell and a small pieces of Lobster were added inside the empty shell. They added like 5 small Scallops to the plate, the rice was greasy and salty. We ordered a Tonkotsu Ramen and this was proof that the current administration does not have any idea about Japanese dishes. They gave us cheap noodles from the 7 eleven market, not the real Ramen noodles. This is an insult to the Japanese cuisine. The "Japanese salad " was cheap lettuce with a cheap dressing. We gave them 2 stars for the Hamachi kama dish. The service was dull. We are not going back ever again. The 8 five star reviews are offensive. This place is actually awful. We ordered a few basic hibachi plates and I honestly think the food was DoorDash'ed from the Meridian location. Food was cold, lacked flavor, weird employees, very slow service, etc. I think they need to shut down, revisit menu/food prep in lieu of more one star reviews. Wonderful new spot for Sushi lovers. Beautiful decor. Very busy over weekends but you can always find a spot. They have a robot that serves the food and gives a hand to the waiter. My kids and us loved to watch him cruise in the restaurant. Very busy atmosphere and they do a good job accommodating to food allergies like gluten free tamari sauce and dishes. I absolutely love this restaurant. The service and food is fantastic. We've had Cory as our waiter several times and he is always friendly and welcoming. On top of that he is attentive and very knowledgeable of everything on the menu. Try the sweet heart roll if you like shrimp tempura and you will be a happy customer. The other great part is the sushi chefs. Had a night at the sushi bar and they were hilarious and even took a couple of drinks of sake with me. I have loved the original Izumi restaurant in Meridian for a long time. I am so excited to finally have them much closer to my home! While they don't have the big Hibachi cooling stations like at the other location, you can still order Hibachi and it is being prepared in their kitchen. This new location also features Tonkotsu and chicken Katsu, which has long been on our wish list. We tried it the first time we went and it was excellent. I loved the presentation of my Sushi & Sashimi for One and all the dishes I have tried so far taste the same as at the Meridien location. I will definitely be here often, especially for the really reasonably priced bento lunch boxes. read more
