BEST SUSHI IN KATY Since they first opened their quality has been great, and they have not changed it. The sushi rolls or nigiris are wonderful, well made, high quality. Try their unagi (eel), Siracha, salmon nigiris, they are truly great. With the COVID situation all tables are very well separated and each sushi is made just for you in a safe way, untouched by anybody else, as it arrives via the revolving service. Very limited selection and way over-priced. A lot of rolls but hardly any nigiri choices, just plates after plates of salmon. The belt was full of Chinese fried appetizers as well. No ramen. This restaurant is my new happy place. You can't have more fun than this. Delicious little items magically glide by you on a lower-level conveyor. And if you don't see it what you'd like, you can order from a tablet on your table and in a moment it zooms up with a delightful swoosh on the upper conveyor. The pricing is very affordable. But my absolute favorite reason for five stars is this is the BEST QUALITY, FRESHEST SUSHI in Katy. There are far more expensive locations only half as good. Not bad, Sushi Sakura, not bad. I had a groupon deal and decided to give the place a go again and it did not disappoint. First, they now have paper menu things on the table so you know what exactly is supposed to be on the belt and if it's not coming, you can order it from the menu. Lack of variety problem solved! We ordered the chicken katsu from the electronic menu and really appreciated being able to have the sauce on the side They're normally waay too sweet. This one was not bad. We also had the miso soup this time which was nice and warm, but still not warm enough for my Korean upbringing of having soup while it's boiling on fire. But it was perfectly suitable for normal folks. The seaweed salad was also colder this time. The tempura was just as good as last time. We had the tuna roll, spicy tuna, peppered tuna, salmon nigiri, sesame balls, edamame, seaweed salad, philly roll, and some sort of spicy salmon with tuna on top. The peppered tuna was my favorite. My kids and I love Sushi Sakura. We were so happy to finally get revolving sushi in Katy. The food is excellent. They have an extensive menu and if you don't see it on the belt you can order and it is sent on a belt right to your table. The sashimi is incredible! It is 5 huge pieces and very fresh. A star for nice (if very untrained and very much lacking in any knowledge) staff and a star for the concept. Now for the negatives...I admit that I am a sushi snob. But we were going out with a child in tow and this is a concept that is entertaining. 1. Raw sushi fish should not be warm. Period. If it's on the conveyor long enough to get warm, you should pull it. 2. Hot entrees should not be cold. Period. If it's on the conveyor long enough to cool down, you should pull it. 3. When I hand you warm, smelly fish ~ do not tell me that if I ordered "off menu" from the kitchen then it would be fresh. Shouldn't all of your food be fresh? Do you only get fresh food if you pay more? There are so many good sushi places in Katy (and many, many more within 20 minutes). Don't spend your money for subpar food. This place will definitely do the trick if you are hankering for some sushi! Plus it's such a cool concept! I remember when I was a kid going to Japan town in San Fran and eating at a conveyor belt sushi place and being absolutely entertained. Only difference here is you don't have the sushi chefs in the middle preparing all of the sushi to send out. They are tucked back into the kitchen, but that's ok too! My friend put in some special orders and once they are ready they speed straight out to your table when they are ready on their own little bullet train conveyor belt. The sushi at places like this obviously runs the risk of maybe riding around a couple of time before it's picked up, but for the most part it seemed like they tried to keep everything very fresh. We went there for dinner on Saturday night, we have been to a revolving sushi bar on Westheimer and liked it, so after heard there is a similar one opened near by and decided to try. But may be because I have the other one in mind, the items here seems has less varieties, there are a lot on the menu but on the belt the items were much less, and the price is also much higher. And the time we went there there were only two waiters and they were so busy that even there are so many empty tables, we had 5 groups of people waiting to be seated. So I would rather drive longer to the one on Westheimer than going back there again. read more

The whole setup and concept is really nice, just what you would expect from a conveyor sushi place. Nonetheless, the food is not half as good; the fish gets warm from going around the conveyor but the worst part is that it feels tasteless, specially the tuna and the yellow tail. I went during their happy hour special of $2 a plate but it's not really cheaper because the sashimi are quite thin, the rice balls are smaller, and they tried not to put out many new plates so you'll see the same ones going around and around. Best way to get new plates is when you request it with the waitress but make sure it's included in the happy hour price. New to Houston so I haven't been to other restaurants like this one but came for takeout it was prepared quickly and while I could tell there was a little issue w language Barr they got the job done and accommodated my requests.
