Great customer service! My wife has special food requirements due to a recent surgery. The kitchen went out of their way to prepare a special meal for her. On top of that. I had a menu item and it was great. read more

We had a reservation for a party of seven at 5:30 to celebrate a 40th birthday. Unfortunately, when we arrived, the owner told us she would not honor the reservation because a name had not been provided when it was made. What made the situation especially frustrating was that there were two tables visibly open, and the young host had already indicated that she could seat our party. Despite that, the owner still refused to accommodate us. We had planned this dinner as part of a special 40th birthday celebration, so this was incredibly disappointing and put a damper on what should have been a fun evening. A little flexibility and hospitality would have gone a long way. :( read more

This hidden gem is better than Benehina's its faster service, and food is equally as good. I locate this spot on the invitation on Easter Sunday. The service was a reasonable speed with a party that was about 10 or more. Better Prices, better service, better performance, and great entertainment jokes from the person Hibachi chef. read more

This used to be a nice restaurant in Katy. The food is mid at best. The quality of service was poor to customers and even some staff members are rude to other staff. It was painful to watch the old lady berate everyone around her. If that is her personality perhaps she would work the back of the house better. Her working the front of the house creates a toxic atmosphere. Aitsu wa tonda dokuba da. Too many better Japanese restaurants to eat at. Because of that toxic old hag's evil energy, even the food is poisoned. What a shame, I can see why the place was so empty. read more

We were a party of 6 and the service was wonderful!! The young lady that took care of us was very attentive--we never needed to look for her or ask--she was always there. Our chef was excellent!!! The food--DELICIOUS!!! We had been going to this restaurant for years and then hadn't been and returned Friday night 5-19-26 and so glad we have returned!! We will be back in a week or two!!! So glad they are still there!!! read more

We went for the all you can eat sushi last night. Everything was just okay. The water tasted very weird and the cups were cracked and cloudy. We sampled a variety of ayce appetizers and we did notice the "snow crab" salad was simply imitation crab meat which was a shame. I don't think they have any snow crab in the building. We had nigiri and some rolls and all the fish was pretty flavorless. Neither of our sushi rolls came with the associated sauces, even though it is listed as an included ingredient. The saving grace was being able to order 3 pieces of hibachi shrimp each (limit 1 order per person) and the server tried to tell us no hibachi despite it being clearly listed on the AYCE menu. Service was also extremely slow, didn't seem like he wanted to be there. We got the experience we paid for, but will not be returning read more

I have eaten here many times and I've even done pickup, this is probably my favorite place in all of Texas. The lunch special is an incredible deal and I highly recommend it. I'm shocked that there are any reviews besides 5 stars. Every time i've been they have given great service and a fantastic show. I'm only complaint is that there aren't more locations. I've been coming to Atami for years with the kids and it's always a great time! The hibachi filet mignon will always be a craving for me. From the delicious seasoning to the soft and buttery texture of filet mignon fresh off the hibachi. (Love it.) The Hibachi Lunch menu is great. Today we ordered the Hibachi Filet, Salmon, and shrimp. Then we got the crab puffs. Everything is 10/10. Hot, fresh, large portion sizes, great service, great! Total bill was about $85. The ambiance is cool, pretty casual, I don't think you need a reservation but great for kids and families. It's always a show!! read more

The food was pretty good and the chef did a great job. My beef is they added an 18% tip to my bill before presenting it. I did not notice it and added another tip. My credit card company notified me that I had left a 51% tip. Nowhere did I see that a tip would be added. read more

Great food, the hibachi fried rice is AMAZING!! the service was good as well, but the restaurant could definitely be cleaner / renovated.

The food was ok, but the old lady at the front was BERATING a couple of delivery guys!!! She was so rude! If you want good food with good customer service, go to Sushi 9 or Aji Ramen instead. read more

I've been coming to Atami for over six years now, and it continues to be one of my favorite spots. The service has always been consistently great, and I truly appreciate how well they take care of their guests. I'm especially a fan of their Lycheetini martini--so refreshing and delicious! Their appetizers are always on point (Crab Puffs a fave), and while I didn't snap a photo of it, the roll I had this time was just as tasty as ever. They also offer hibachi, which is a fun option if you're in the mood for a more interactive dining experience and with friends + fam. All around, a solid go-to for great food and good vibes. They are also on DoorDash! read more

* Taste/Quality: 2/5 * Service: 1/5 * Ambiance/Experience: 1/5 * Value for Money: 1/5 * Portion Size: Average Atari Steak and Sushi has been on a steady decline over the years. The food quality is slipping, and the overall experience feels tired and uninspired. Hibachi chefs go through the motions with no real energy--it's the same old routine, but now just for the sake of doing it. Service is slow and inattentive, making the entire evening feel even more disappointing. We've been coming here every year for my son's birthday, but sadly, it's clear the owners have lost interest. This year felt worse than ever--honestly, even a meal at Waffle House felt more enjoyable. Time to find a new spot for next year. read more

We have been picking sushi at Atami ever Friday night for years. Recently they changed the black horse roll and started adding season salt to the salmon inside. Did not like it so stopped getting that. Now two weeks in a row the golden roll has this terrible pink and white imitation crab on top which is not nearly as nice as the white stuff they have always used. I think I need to find a new place . Please stop changing the rolls! read more

Atami Steak & Sushi - Sushi & Sashimi - Japanese Near Me - Katy, Texas

This is definitely one of our favorite places to go...But, it's due to the great food & Kenny. Kenny is BY FAR one of the best waiters we've had. He remembers our drinks, he has remembered our orders, and we always ask for him. Yes, although the chefs don't always put on a full performance. And yes, the place/ambiance is a little run down. It's less expensive than some of the other places. If Kenny goes to another restaurant, we'll probably follow!!! read more

The food was pretty good. The Philadelphia roll,l and shrimp crunch roll were spectacular and the salad was very fresh. Unfortunately the soup didn't have much flavor and the fried onions (in the soup) were very soggy. The hibachi chicken had good flavor and the rice was typical. The grilled vegetables were overall flavorless. Our waitress was great. She was present, but not overly bombarding, and refilled my drink as soon as it was done. As for pricing, 3 sushi rolls for 15 dollars is a steal. An entire Hibachi meal (soup, salad, chicken, veggies, rice) for just $11 is great. It was a good restaurant, would go again, but it wasn't mind blowing. read more

No stars, the veggies were soft, crab puffs over cooked. The experience was awful, never again

Bummed about this review because it was very fixable. We came for hibachi and had a few vegetarians in our party, so we verified some things with our server. He confirmed that the hibachi vegetable was a vegetarian option. So far, so good. The hibachi chef arrived shortly thereafter and was entertaining as he made the fried rice. Then he cooked the shrimp, steak and chicken for the table. Then he put the vegetables on and used the juices from the meats as part of the seasoning for the vegetables. The vegetarians were disappointed, but did not say anything to the chef. The rest of our party was silently bewildered as to why one would start cooking vegetables after their protein. When the server returned, one person mentioned that they were disappointed with the preparation and asked for a separate side order of vegetables. The server also seemed confused as to why the chef would cook the vegetables after the meat. We asked the server to see if there was anything he could do, and it turns out, there was! He could shrug his shoulders and charge us full price for everything! Well played, Atami. You win this round...there won't be another. Booooooo. read more

Had a wonderful dining experience as far as food & drinks. We were sat w/ another group but it was a good vibe all around. Until the check came & the waitress decided the tip wasn't "enough" for everything she has to pay out. Not ok considering we were doing 1/2 cash 1/2 card, but still at least 20%. So off putting to ask the table to "increase" tip. read more

Went the other night to Atami and was treated to the best hibachi Chef I have had the pleasure if dining with. Been to probably 20 different hibachi places before but Jessie was amazing. He was incredibly engaging, super friendly, was cracking jokes with us the entire time, and the food was great! We've been to Atami probably 10 times or so, and was always happy, but he took it to another level. Definitely ask for him if you dine here, you will be happy you did! read more

This place is still pretty freaking good, the last few times I've gotten kinda jipped on the veggies??? Like really....hook me up!! We grabbed the kids and headed in for a quick diner before a movie (yea I said a movie...remember going to those??) it was pretty empty at the hibachi tables, our chef was pretty good, he did a few extra tricks that I hadn't seen before, did I mention we've been here a few times?? food was cooked well....No complaints really, just can I get more than a few onion pieces next time?? read more

Took my colleagues for lunch. We have never been forced to share a table when I asked to be moved the manager would not allow. He was unfriendly and rude. The food was subpar, the hibachi chef was lack luster and they get coming to the table to see if we left yet. It was not a good experience and I'll never go back or take staff to atomi. It's gone down hill severely in the last few years. Would not recommend. read more

Service and food is always great and affordable compared to similar places. When we want hibachi, this is are go to place.

Horrible service, I ordered the wrong plate not knowing it came fried and it was not said on the menu the owner a lady came out and basically took my plate because I asked if it can be grilled I don't do fried. Super rude! I even apologized for the inconvenience something they could not! We should have just went to ShoGun! Don't come here and waste your money!! read more

Went here for my daughter's 18th birthday, and was very underwhelmed. Food was OK. The person cooking the food was not that entertaining and did a very quick cooking for us. They do not have Yum Yum sauce which is a big no-no for me. Sent back to sushi. Wasn't that great The place was not as clean as I would've liked it there's definitely other hibachi places that I would go to. I would probably never go here again. No pictures cause I wasn't impressed at all. read more

I've been to a TON of hibachi restaurants and I must say, this one takes the win over them all. It's reasonably priced. They are extremely nice and they have a convo with you while doing the show. The waitress we had was spectacular! She would literally pop up and refill our drinks soooo fast! At one point I didn't even know I needed more water and BOOM! She was there to refill it for me. She made sure all our needs were met and that we had an amazing experience. Just that alone gives this place 5 stars. But the food was amazing! Perfectly cooked and perfectly seasoned throughout. The chef did an amazing job and definitely earned some repeat customers! I wholeheartedly recommend this establishment for a birthday/date/feel good night of food and fun! read more

We came in for Easter dinner tonight. Four of us had hibachi, and 1 had sushi. We had the steak, shrimp, filet mignon, and scallops! It was all fantastic! I used to love this place but has gone down hill. The font of the house is seriously confused and can't figure out who came first. The waiter assumed that we wanted Hibachi, didn't even ask. Seated four people first when the clearly started we were there first. The sushi was too damn big for Oscar the Grouch and it did taste right. Not sure who they were prepping for. They did get the hot sake right and the Eel bowl. Not sure what happened, but I am a bit sad. I hope it gets better read more

We love Atami but unfortunately for us we hadn't been since last year. However Thursday we went out to celebrate and had a wonder experience with the hibachi chef named Jesse! I would highly suggest you request him if you enjoy a good show with lots of laughs, entertainment, and good conversation! We still talked and laughed the next day about how much fun we had, and how delicious the food was! We all got the Atami special with a filet and it was so tender and delicious, of course the chicken and shrimp were perfect too. Thank you for a wonderful experience back into your restaurant, we look forward to joining you again soon. read more

We have been coming here for over a decade and are truly disappointed with the ethics of this establishment today and will not be coming back. We always come for lunch- the price is half than dinner. We came at 3 pm and ordered our food, lunch hr ends at 4, which we even confirmed with the manager prior to arrival. We order our usuals, great meal but then we get our check. They had charged us for dinner hibachi (double the price) even though we ordered during lunch?? It's 3 pm... Apparently bc they put 2 shrimp on our plate that changed it the hibachi dinner.. we did not ask for the shrimp or hibachi dinner.. who gets dinner at 3 o clock..? When we asked the waiter about it, he pretty much just said sorry about your bad luck. Definitely a scheme they got going on... and I'm very disappointed, especially after YEARS of coming here. read more

This was my wife's favorite place. The food was very good was never disappointed. Staff was friendly. Good value for the money

We were a party of 6 on a Sunday afternoon. The place was not busy at all, there was literally no one there but they refused to seat us unless we had all 6 people there. When half of the party showed up they still refused to let us sit at a table. Anyways, food was okay. It wasn't anything special, we tried their sashimi, nigiris, a few rolls, the seafood Habachi, steak and chicken habachi, and also the vegetarian habachi. I will say the entertainment during the habachi cooking was pretty funny and was nice. Other than that the experience wasn't great. Wouldn't come back here by choice. read more
