Sushi Sake never disappoints when it comes to the food. Everything we ordered was fresh and flavorful. We tried the Dolphin Roll, JB Tempura, and Spicy Tuna, and all of them were really good. First time back in 3 years and really impressed! Sushi Sake is a small spot with a super cool vibe--dark lighting, neon accents, and a big tree in the center that gives it a fun, trendy feel. Our server was friendly and attentive. We started with gyoza and a tuna roll--both fresh, but the gyoza was especially good. I had the blueberry mojito (very sweet but I liked it), and my husband's vodka/grapefruit was good but a small pour for the price. The Dragon Roll and Bahama Roll were excellent--fresh, flavorful, and generous portions. The special fried rice was also amazing, like hibachi-style with jumbo shrimp on top. Only downside was the kids' steak teriyaki--super chewy and not edible. Wish the server had acknowledged it, but we let it go. Got a craving at 9:30 PM for some sushi and hubby found Sushi Saki on yelp as open so we drove over and gave it a shot. First off the inside is super cute and the service was spot on! We've been coming here for years. It used to be our go to no matter what, then over time it turned into more of a last option when nothing else was open. Back in the day, the food was mind blowing. The rice especially used to hit different. Service has always been hit or miss, not terrible, but some servers forget parts of the order or write things down wrong, and it's happened more than once. Lately, we've been trying other places. A lot of spots are stepping up with better quality, more creative menus, and lower prices. The sushi and rice here just aren't what they used to be, and the drop in quality has been noticeable every time. This was a fun nearby experience down the street from home. I haven't been in this building since way back in the day when it used to be a Boston Market. They remodelled the interior super nicely where there is no comparison to what it once was. It is modern, cozy, in a great location with a socialable staff and bartender who makes some unique drinks. We showed up for Happy Hour right after work and sat at the bar, starting with a tequila and pineapple. We began the game-plan with the Miami Heat roll and negimaki. My friend insisted that I try the Rainbow Roll which is his alltime fav compared with all the nearby sushi hotspots. I agree! The fish was fresh and that will definitely be my choosing with future adventures. The Miami Heat roll is a shrimp tempura, cream cheese, krab skad topped with baked salmon, spicy mayo and topped with crunch. It scored Second Place but was a great Happy Hour addition combined with drinking. The Negimaki was my least fav of the bunch. I prefer the thinly sliced steak to be wrapped around asparagus. What was surprising however, was that traffic picked up after we sat down. Our gyoza appetizer was on our table less than 5 minutes after placing the order. Super impressed! My iced tea was insanely sweet so I sent it back and asked for ice water. We got our entrees without any soup. I asked about the soup and he was like "oh you want that?" Um? Yeah? The miso soup was pretty flavorless with very little tofu in it. I asked for hot sauce and the options were chili oil and sirarcha. I requested chili oil and they proceeded to provide me a bottle which was Winn Dixie brand. It also had no flavor so I asked for sirarcha. Food tasted ok. Been here a couple of times. Overall the food is ok, a bit pricy for what you're getting. The last time I went to this place will stay the last. I understand that living in Florida comes were certain types of critters that can end up indoors fairly easy. Sushi Sake does amazing every time! Dine in and take out are both equally quality experiences each time. Their take out is prepared just as conscientiously as dine in meals. Tonight I ordered the Sushi Appetizer (Chef's Choice), which had 5 pieces of nigiri. I requested no Ebi (Shrimp). They gave me two hamachi pieces, two salmon pieces, and one piece of tuna. It was amazing. I also ordered two Ikura (Salmon Roe) Sushi pieces (which is my favorite). As always, the salmon roe was great. Lastly, I asked if the chef could prepare a hamachi scallion roll (it's not on the menu). The roll was large with a good amount of fish. They also play music at the perfect volume to where it's not too loud. Their best appetizer in my opinion is the steamed shrimp shumai. The sauce it brings is really good and will make you order a second plate of them like we did. They serve a great happy hour as well, for those who like to go out early. The drinks are made from scratch and are really good. My favorite is the lychee mojito. They have a wide variety of options on their menu for just about anyone. This restaurant is in its own separate building amongst a strip of stores north of palmetto park road. It looks brand new inside and out. Even the ladies room was sparkling and high tech. We came for a light lunch on an early Saturday. We were the only customers when we first arrived. We had good service. The restaurant is well staffed and we could see the 3 sushi chefs at work. I started with a green salad with ginger dressing. The lettuce et al was crisp and fresh. I liked the salad dressing so much, I asked for a bit more to completely douse the greens. Following my salad, I had their kanisu roll. This is the one without rice. It had krab and avocado wrapped in cucumber and topped with fish eggs. It was good and refreshingly cool on a hot summer day. My husband got two rolls -- a California roll and an avocado roll. Both were good. One had rice on the outside and the other was seaweed outside. They were filling. Even though we only tried a few items here, we could tell by the quality of what we did have, and their extensive menu, that this place was top notch. Located in the Winn Dixie / LA Fitness Del Mar Shopping center on Palmetto and Powerline, It's a free-standing restaurant with plenty of parking. The owners totally renovated the inside, and it is beautiful, and the atmosphere is so warm and welcoming. They offer an extensive menu with nice sushi and hibachi choices. Let's start with...They have a full bar. Plenty of wine choices and a beautiful wine wall on the side of the restaurant, such a nice touch. Great craft cocktails too. I started with a Blueberry Mojito. Fresh cold pressed blueberries with rum. Mint and lime. It was tasty and packed a little punch. Sushi was excellent. We ordered a Spicy Tuna Roll, that was full of fresh tuna, cucumber and topped with Kimchee sauce. The roll was big, and nice to share. Next, we had a Kendall Roll, and this one was special. Tuna Hamachi, Salmon and White fish with avocado and Masago. Every bite was delish! We could have stopped with just the sushi as it was plenty for dinner, but we wanted to try the hibachi, so we had the Calamari Hibachi. Perfectly grilled Calamari in a lemony butter sauce with fresh asparagus and tomato. Dinners come with miso soup or a salad and white or fried rice. This is now our go-to sushi restaurant in Boca, especially since it's right in between my house and the office! We loved absolutely everything we ordered. My family and I ate at Sushi Sake Boca. The next morning, I was incredibly sick with vomiting chicken fried rice and diarrhea. It lasted 8-12 hours, where I could even eat anything. I know it was the rice because it was all I ate that day. I had it for lunch around 1:40 and completed the rest around 6:00 PM. By 4:00 AM I was vomiting. I have called the location several times. They just take your name and number and continue to ignore you. Please be careful where you eat. You would think at $140 lunch, they would at least acknowledge you as a customer. read more
