Dragon Roll - spicy tuna and avocado

You wouldn't expect sushi in a mall to be good but this place has consistently good sushi! The chef is super friendly and makes everything to order. The portions are pretty large and you never have to wait very long. My only slight complaint is the pieces are sometimes big for my mouth - but I can deal with that! Lol I usually just eat right there at the mall dining area - it's usually pretty clean and I can people watch but you can always take it to go if that's not your vibe.

Godzilla roll was amazing! Great sushi chef and food!

Super yummy sushi ! We are so impressed! Great portions and the sushi chef was awesome! Thank you sushi chef for a fabulous dinner! Our favorite was the Godzilla roll! The crunch roll was also great just like I like finally! A++++

My partner is Japanese and he's said this is about the freshest fish he's gotten in Albuquerque! We made it a habit to drop by whenever possible. The portions are very generous and the rolls are a pretty good size. Pricey but sushi is pricey anywhere.

Who would've thought the mall of all places would have some great sushi. We've passed by this place every time we visited the mall & said, "we should try that...". Well today was the day & it did not disappoint. The prices were not bad. We ordered a rainbow roll, spicy tuna, shrimp tempura, tuna sashimi & a seaweed salad. With tip, it came out to $50. My bf is picky about the rainbow roll but this one was to his liking. The rolls were pretty big! I enjoyed everything we ate. It was fresh & tasty. The staff were friendly & quick. We waited maybe 10 minutes for all of our rolls which was super fast. I will definitely eat here again. I don't know why it took me so long to try it.

The food was very good and the staff was very friendly and upbeat. Amazing that such great quality of food is found at the mall and I would highly recommend Sushi Roller

Gyoza & jalapeño bomb. Both tasty - not much heat from the jalapeños

My wife and I were in town for the District VI Honor Band weekend. 11-19-22 (She had students participating) Enjoyed our entire meal. Seaweed salad, gyoza, sesame balls, rainbow roll (?) & unagi sashimi w/spiral Cucumber. Unagi was tender and SO delicious! We will be back! (Even though we don't live near - or drive near - this part of town. Home is Mountainair)

"Best sushi in New Mexico. No doubt!" I decided to make my weekly stroll to the mall, and of course I'm always hungry, so I stop by the food court. I haven't tried this place before and was in the mood for some sushi. I ordered a bunch of sushi, like the Sakura and Cottonwood rolls. Once I finally got it, I was stunned. They looked like something I'd find at a high class Japanese restaurant. So colorful and fresh looking. The man who was making the sushi was very kind and patient as well. The sushi tasted incredible, so much flavor and time put into it. Will be coming back! Thank you, Sushi Roller...

Consistently fresh and delicious! Worth a special trip to Cottonwood mall for this amazing sushi! The owners who personally prepare the food are always very courteous and pleasant. It's sad to see these local restaurants struggling during the pandemic, especially at the mall where they may be overlooked as a food option. Support local businesses!

I was pleasantly surprised at how delicious this place is! My best friend always raved about it but I was like "cmon girl it's in the mall" but she finally got me here and I'm glad she did!! It has a very fresh taste to it, and the rice was immaculate (I praise someone who can make rice well). & presentation was 10/10 for all their plates! I was thoroughly impressed with the volcano roll. In a weird way it reminded me of a hamburger but didn't taste like one at all haha it was definitely my favorite roll we had. I also tried their sesame balls as a dessert for the first time & really enjoyed them. To describe them they are kind of like a donut ball with a thick cream filling, super yummy! We also ordered the Sakura Roll, Crunchy Roll, Spider Roll, California Roll, & Edamame & Seaweed Salad for appetizers. The California Roll is a must here it is just better here than anywhere else I've had in town - try it & you'll know what I'm talking about! I've never had Seaweed Salad until last night & I have to say I will be getting it every time I come here from now on it was so good! Also the staff were the utmost friendliest people. Check it out! PS peek my bestie Jess in my review pic who got me to try this place!!

So, I know like many of you, I don't associate great sushi with mall food courts, but that's where Sushi Roller proved me wrong! We had plans to go to a movie at the mall and decided to grab a quick bite in the food court beforehand. We passed a table with some of the most beautiful sushi I had ever seen! I noticed Sushi Roller and walked over to peruse the menu. They have great photos of their rolls at the "sushi bar" and you mark what you'd like on a dry-erase menu. Well, we had to try them and we absolutely made the right choice! I had the Godzilla roll (which was tempura flash fried deliciousness and enormous) and sesame balls and my husband had the green chile roll and shrimp tempura roll. All of the food is made fresh to order and ready so quickly! Everything we ordered was so delicious and the man and woman who made the food and served us were so kind and wonderful. The next time you are in Cottonwood mall, don't walk by Sushi Roller. Stop and order your food there and try a unique experience in the food court!!

Hey Joe! They are located inside the Cottonwood Mall. So, it looks like they follow their hours of Mon-Sat: 10am-9pm and Sun: 11am-6pm. Hope this helps!

The final price (paying with cash) was $102.32 before the tip, which seems very fair given the size of the portions and the quality. The fish was not the very highest quality, but it was very good. The wasabi was some of (if not) the best that I've ever had. The soy and eel sauces were made in-house, and were excellent. Presumably, the rest of the sauces were house-made as well. Leo was a very good and friendly server. The atmosphere was very relaxed but could be suitable for something fancier. The one thing that hurts is the price; as fair as it is, I do wish that it were a smidgen less.

The two rolls I ordered were better than last time. One was The Green Dragon (i think) using Avacado instead of seaweed. The other was Lobster Dance which is scallops and lobster. The Green dragon was okay. The Lobster Dance would have been a lot better without the overpowering sauce. The nigir were okay, but I prefer my nigiri to not have a lot sauce and all three I ordered were heavily covcered in their cloying (oyster based?) sauce. The Monkey Balls were meh, I've had way better here. The Seaweed Salad was excellent which I think was true last time. I guess I still need to try the in restaurant experience, but based on the food alone I'm not sure it would be great. If anyone has a great place they like let me know!!!

Soy sauce is in nearly…read moreeverything, menus aren't always clear, and I'm usually stuck asking a ton of questions or avoiding places altogether. That's why Sakura Sushi & Grill stood out right away. They clearly label gluten-free options on the menu. They also offer gluten-free soy sauce, which is a huge win. Even better, they have lunch specials with gluten-free options, which is rare. It's located in Riverside Plaza in Albuquerque, just past the river on the west side. I ordered the Sushi Lunch A with premium fish and chose the double salmon roll. Everything was incredibly fresh and delicious, and the portions were great for the price. The miso soup that comes with lunch isn't gluten-free, but they brought me a side salad with an amazing gluten-free dressing instead. I felt confident eating here, which is not something I say often. I didn't have any reaction afterward and would absolutely eat here again. One of the coolest surprises: they make their own wasabi in-house. It's not on the menu, but if you ask, they'll bring it out, and it is absolutely worth it. We considered getting a sushi boat, but the lunch specials were a better value for lunch. If we went for dinner, we would absolutely order a boat. I also had hot sake, which paired perfectly with the meal. At the end, they even brought us a sweet cinnamon tea for my friend's birthday, even though we didn't order dessert. Service was warm and attentive the entire time. My friend has a shellfish allergy, and the server made sure her plate only included fin fish, which we really appreciated. We went around 1:30 p.m. on a Tuesday, and it was quiet with only a few other tables. The atmosphere felt calm and relaxed, with a casual, comfortable vibe that made it easy to sit and actually enjoy a conversation without feeling rushed. They close at 3 and reopen for dinner, so it's a great low-key lunch spot if you time it right. My friend also mentioned she brings her young kids here often, and the woman manager or owner is especially kind and welcoming to them. I enjoyed this place so much that I called my husband on the way home to tell him all about it. We're already planning to go back with our kids, which will make this my second visit in one week. If you're gluten-free, this place is a gem. And even if you're not, the quality, service, and overall experience make it absolutely worth a visit.

About 5 min later one roll and about 10-15 min later the remaining 5 rolls came out. So the bulk of the rolls took at least 25 min from order time. We waited at least 20-30 min to place our second order which was for two rolls and tuna tataki appetizer. Rolls came out pretty quickly... tuna never arrived. Either the place is understaffed, it's an AYCE tactic to save money or it was just our waitress? Not sure but for AYCE slow service is a deal breaker.
