The staff is always pretty friendly and accommodating. I shared an app, a roll and an order of salmon sashimi with a friend on both visits. The food is always fresh, and delicious! I never feel like I am being overcharged for what I get either. Going to eat for sushi can feel like that sometimes. The quality of the food is great and everything is always aesthetically pleasing as well. I had their avocado bomb on my last visit and I was delightfully surprised with it. I like avocado in most cases, but sometimes, it can be a lot at one. I thought this was going to be like that when I saw it, but I was wrong. I look forward to getting one of these on my next visit! He told us that almost anything could be modified, and that we just needed to let them know. I also asked about the seaweed salad, and he said it was gluten-free, it just had sesame seed oil. He then walked away. When we were ready to order, we had to flag down a different server. I again explained that both my daughter and I have a gluten allergy. She seemed knowledgeable and clearly explained what could and could not be modified. When I double-checked about the seaweed salad, she informed us that it was not gluten-free which directly contradicted what we were first told. We ordered the Chameleon Roll without crab mix (since it is not gluten-free) and two Alaskan rolls with no fish eggs, or sauce on top for the same reason. When our food arrived after nearly 46 minutes the presentation was nice, however I immediately noticed they had put the gluten-free items on the same boat as the non-gluten-free items with sauce dripping from the non-gluten-free items on both sides. Then as soon as I picked up a piece of the Chameleon Roll, I immediately noticed crab mix inside. Which we were told was not gluten free. I flagged the server down and pointed it out. She seemed unsure how to respond and went to get someone else. I explained the problem to the new waitress and she asked us to remove the Chameleon Roll from the boat so they could remake it without crab mix. The remake took another 15-20 minutes. By this point, we had been about an hour and a half. We were extremely disappointed, especially after carefully discussing gluten-free modifications multiple times. At that point, I no longer felt comfortable eating the food, so when the remade rolls arrived, I asked for everything to be boxed up. When we received the check, a 20% gratuity had been automatically added, although this was never mentioned on the menu. Overall, the entire evening was disappointing. We were really looking forward to trying this restaurant, but unfortunately, due to the service issues and lack of consistency regarding gluten-free accommodations, we will not be returning.

Disappointing first experience…read more Why would you call a customer and not leave a voicemail? For a first experience with Tokyo Bangkok, this was incredibly disappointing. My husband picked up an order that I had placed online. About 30 minutes after he picked it up, I noticed I had a missed call from the restaurant. The only voicemail left was essentially, "It's like a robot." Yes--that's the call screening...but why not leave an actual voicemail explaining why you were calling? Since I was still at work, I asked my husband to call the restaurant. We then learned that the main item we had paid for was never included in our order. I appreciate that you offered a refund for the missing item, but my husband specifically asked if the missing food could simply be delivered since it was the restaurant's mistake, and that request was declined. That was particularly frustrating. If the restaurant realized an item had been left out, why not clearly communicate that when calling? And if we hadn't noticed the missed call or followed up, would we ever have been notified about the missing item? Mistakes happen, but it's how a business handles those mistakes that makes a lasting impression. Unfortunately, this was our first experience with Tokyo Bangkok, and instead of leaving us excited to order again, it left a very bitter taste. I hope this was an isolated incident, but better communication and customer service would have made a significant difference
