Authentic divey mum and pop, however maki items are unexpectedly decent and made with love and care!

Botan Ebi Spot Prawn Scallop Saba Mackerel Suzuki Seabass Kurodai Japanese Black Porgy(seabream) Kanpachi Amberjack Hiramasa Shake salmon Maguro Tuna Ottoro Tuna Belly Very fun to have 10 different fish/seafood to try. Basically it was like #omakase for two people in an inexpensive way($90 plus tax) with bonus of tons of rolls. Sushi was nicely dressed and did not really need to dunk in soy sauce, only thing was for my taste rice( shari) was too wet l (was not mushy though). I appreciated everything on this platter was actually edible. I really dislike green fake plastic leaf thingy. I ate chrysanthemum

The fish tasted super fresh, my personal favourite being the Escolar and the Tuna. The sushi pizza was also really delicious; the rice was fluffy, and not stiff or tough like at other places I've had them at. I'd also recommend ordering the karaage. It was super crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, a pleasant surprise on our end! Everything came out quickly, and the service was just as great. Our server was so kind and checked in to make sure we always had everything we needed. We will definitely be back!

After looking over all the options, I chose salmon sashimi, octopus sashimi, and bbq eel sushi. Quality was pretty good, cuts were thick, and the value was insane! Place is takeout. People are super friendly. Prices are amazing based on the quantity you get. Definitely recommend this place if you want to pick and choose good sushi without breaking the bank.

Other platters are often "you get what you get" but the idea that we wouldn't be stuck with surf clam or cucumber rolls was very enticing to us. Mother's Day was a great reason to order sushi and maaaaan were we not disappointed! Ordering online seemed like they were rammed with orders since it requested a later pick up time. When my husband showed up, he noted that it was a two person show... and they clearly were making sure they didn't overwhelm themselves with orders. It goes to show they care about their food/quality and we were so grateful! The rice was cooked well and the ratio of rice to fish/yums was great! Our only complaint was that we wish the order form would tell us how many pieces were in each "order" but other than that we were very pleased with the quality of the sushi and the freshness of the fish. We finally have a go-to sushi spot nearby that we won't hesitate to order from again (and again and again!)

I've only ever been here for lunch, and I've only eaten 5 or 6 different dishes because I'm always eating off the lunch special menu. This isn't a bad thing though. Every meal I've had has been great, and I feel no need to venture outside of that zone for now! The first thing I note about their lunches is they're just plain inexpensive. Most are about $10 and come with two small soups (one miso and another one that they don't mention on the menu but comes with most of the meals and is spectacular), a small salad, noodles, a bit of fruit, rice, and a main. Along with chicken and beef dishes, they also have a noodle soup (which is delicious) as well as a sushi dish on the menu (which I'll never try, but I've heard is great), so there's something for everyone. Service is almost always polite and fast, and although the place is a bit older in appearance, it's well take care of and inviting. I'm definitely looking forward to many more meals here!

This cozy sushi restaurant has all the typical sushi restaurant staples (sushi rolls, nigiri sushi,…read moresashimi, donburis (rice bowls), udon noodles, and a few Korean dishes such as bibimbap (the owners are Korean). There was no parking right outside of the restaurant (main road), but you could park on the side residential streets or in a large plaza nearby (about 10 minutes walk). The first thing we noticed when we walked in was the plethora of kids' drawings plastered all over the front door, walls, and the interior of the restaurant. Every table had a set of crayons and paper that you could use to draw. It seemed very family and kids-friendly. The interior was small, cozy, and had a very homey vibe. We were seated in a booth which added to the coziness feeling. Food came out relatively quickly, and everything was decent. Unagi Don came with a good amount of unagi and avocado slices, on top of a heap of rice. Kaizen Don was excellent - it came with thick slices of sashimi (salmon, tuna, shrimps, and imitation crab). Every donburi (rice bowl) came with house green salad and miso soup. We chose to add on a few extra green salads. Sushi rolls that we ordered as a group all came on one long wooden board - perfect for sharing. I wish the asparagus in the asparagus roll wasn't battered and deep-fried (tempura style). My favourite sushi roll was the El Dorado Roll (without rice - salmon, tuna, cooked shrimp, imitation crab, cucumber, and avocado wrapped in cucumber which added extra crunch). Service was efficient, nice, and friendly.

Everything we had was fantastic, but there were a few standouts. The fried chicken was juicy, tender and packed with flavour. Such a great start to the meal. Then there's the ramen. The noodles were some of the tastiest we've ever had, with such a lovely texture and chew. And the garlic soy miso broth was divine. Rich, savoury and incredibly comforting. It was like a hug in broth form. And then there was the potato salad. Honestly, we would come back just for this one item. There was something so surprising but incredibly pleasant about the texture, and we loved their Japanese take on this classic. Creamy, flavourful and just a really reimagined version of something so basic. The comfort factor on this item alone is a solid 100% if you come, get some potato salad. Everything we had was great, and the whole experience was casual, welcoming and just really enjoyable. I'm honestly kicking myself that it took us this long to finally stop in. Needless to say, we won't be walking past anymore, we will be coming in when we can!

My wife and I have been here a couple of times now and got: - Beef bulgogi bento: Beautifully presented, really tasty, great sides. The beef was tender and properly sweet. Only quibble was we would have wanted more meat. - Unagi bento: Generous serving of eel, good grill and sauce. And as with the other bento, great sides and presentation. - Torched salmon dragon roll: Heavy and packed, pretty tasty, though would have liked the salmon a bit more torched. - Shrimp tempura: Standard and pretty good. Overall, the bentos are easily the standouts. That said, Hanamaru's other offerings are pretty good too. We'll definitely be back to try their other stuff.

We decided on paying the $10 extra per person to avail of their premium menu which added Prime rib steak, AAA striploin, Takoyaki, Butterfish, just to name a few. We dined on a weekday mid-afternoon time of around 4PM so the service turnaround time was conveniently quick. It did not take too long from order placement until the time our orders were brought to our table. I enjoyed most of the food items they have available especially the sashimi, butterfish, and the premium meats. Their BBQ sauce is OK. The 7 spices powder they have available on the side is surprisingly good. It enhanced the taste of the sometimes dried up cooked meat. What was disappointing was their order of buttered corn. It does not seem to have any butter added. Their Octopus balls or Takoyaki was also a little sub-par. I understand it has more to do with how they prepared it, but their Takoyaki was flat at the base. It was not a round ball. The sauce, toppings, and fillings was also not among the best I have had. Another thing is I wish they have some Gochujang or Samjjang available. You can order lettuce, kimchi, and the meats for Korean BBQ. It is just disappointing that you don't get the full Samgyupsal experience because of the missing dip. Service we received was excellent. The waiter constantly checked up on us and cleared out empty plates. He also replaced the grill once it became too greasy or oily. We were supposed to receive a voucher of about *$35 because our total bill went over $100. I gave my phone number but never received that text confirmation. Our waiter said that if we were to dine again, I can provide my phone number to avail that credit.

The experience was good overall but because the menu was short I don't think I would be coming back.
