Sushi Palace is the OG AYCE in my opinion. It's where a group of us started gathering every other month to overeat! I haven't been back since 2019 and not because of any issue it's just a bit of a drive and we have places that are more convenient for all of us to meet. Last night we decided to go back down memory lane and revisit Sushi Palace. The place looked basically the same with a few cosmetic upgrades. The menu did improve significantly and they added an additional menu for All You Can Eat with some unique and delicious offerings. The service was friendly, fast, and spot on. The food was delicious. Used to come here more than 15 years ago, there was a period in time where competition grew (Masa first, then Hiro, Sakana, etc) and the quality of sushi palace fell, but I'm glad to say this place is back to becoming a contender for the top spot again. They recently expanded their menu to include a lot of similar offerings as other places including ceviche, yuzu tuna, and other wider mix of apps. Quality of fish is avg to avg high for AYCE, good salmon, especially the pepper salmon. The Peking duck bun was majority bun with very little meat, but otherwise an interesting offering. Hand rolls are still great. What stands out the most about this place are the desserts that are included, including some of the best green tea and red bean ice cream. read more

I really enjoyed the AYCE sushi here. Service was very prompt and the staff were friendly. Atmosphere was very good. Price was about right for the weekend: $33. Now to the sushi. It was good. I had the sashimi and various maki rolls. The rolls were on the thin side versus what I'm used to. Taste was good. Not blown away but definitely adequate. Sashimi cuts (salmon) were very good. I really enjoyed the Peking duck bun. The fried fare was fine. Nothing really blew me away. I need to try this place again to re-asses my rating, which is very good. This was a $100 door dash order. The spicy tuna roll looked like week old steak without refrigeration. The shrimp tempura in the bento box looked good but it was just the breading. Inside was soggy, no bite. The dumplings were in a section of the box with what looked like vinegar eels. The eel in the avocado and eel roll looked like a bad clam; the one you cough up. Sushi Palace is by far my favorite all-you-can-eat sushi buffet! The servers are always the best, the food comes out quickly, and everything is consistently fresh. The kitchen is outstanding--especially the spicy tuna pizza, which is always one of the first things I order. Honestly, if that were the only thing on the menu, I'd still be happy! Of course, it's the sushi that truly makes this place shine. The fish is consistently fresh and flavorful, and the rolls are absolutely delicious. Both the traditional and specialty rolls are excellent, with a wide variety to choose from. My family loves the Rt. 22 Roll, which is one of the best deep-fried rolls I've ever had, but my personal favorite is the Tiger Roll--it's always perfect. To finish off the meal, the fried oreos are a must, and the green tea ice cream is one of the best I've ever tasted. The food was pretty good, I mean whatever actually got anyway. I had to wait 20-30 mins for my orders and tables next to us had piles of food. They only order we got that had a lot of food on it was a mistake and was someone else's order that they dropped on our table- but I think it was an over order or mistake that the place didn't want to through away. So they gave it to the starving table. This place is shady, or they don't want to fill your orders OR just really bad at filling orders. BUT I felt like they pick and choose who is going to get what they order and who is going to get 25% of what they order. I noticed regulars there getting massive amounts of sushi. We could even get 1/2 of what we ordered. I recommend you take a pass on this place- any ALL YOU CAN EAT place that you leave hungry is shady AF. The service was terrible. They can't even fill your water. It takes 10+ minutes EVERY DANG TIME to get a glass of water. JUST LEAVE A PITCHER ON THE TABLE if you're they incompetent at table service. A bit pricey, but what isn't nowadays. This is a local favorite of mine whenever I'm in the area- AYCE sushi and Japanese items that you order off of two sheets of papers. The service is a bit slow during dinner hours but that is expected. We had lunch on a weekday and it was $28 per person. A good barebones sushi place in Princeton but not upscale by any means. There is usually room but you can also easily call ahead and see what their availability looks like. They have a large menu and a nice variety of sushi to pick from and all you can eat is the place to do it at. Not sure why sushi palace has a lower than expected review because sushi palace has always been my go to for AYCE (all you can eat) sushi. The reason why is because the service is excellent and the sushi is great. Last I recall, sushi palace is a BYOB place and it is a lovely environment to have a night with friends. In general, I think sushi palace is very well priced for the area with high quality sushi. I do eat a lot of AYCE sushi places and when I am in central Jersey, this is where I go. You can expect to spend $20-$30 a person. I love sushi palace and I will be back!! read more

Sushi Palace is the best spot in nj for AYCE sushi. Been here too many times to count now but never been disappointed. The sushi bar is set up so you can watch them making the sushi from the dining area. The sushi is always so fresh and crafted so well. My personal favorite sushi rolls are the pink lady and mango avocado rolls. Their ice cream is also the best way to end AYCE. I usually go for the green tea but they have red bean, chocolate, and vanilla. They also have many lunch specials like pick 2/3 rolls which is my go to when I'm looking for a quick bite! read more

We have been coming here for a long time, but tonight was even better than usual. They have new items on the menu and they are excellent! We were so hungry and excited to try the new items that I forgot to take pictures of the food, but I took a picture of the posters. We had the miso bass, sesame tuna, spicy tuna pizza, salmon battleship, senbei, and sautéed string beans. I didn't love the string beans but my husband liked them. Everything else was a winner! That left less room for our usual order but it was great to have something new and so unique. After the new menu items it did take quite a while to get our sushi order, but the servers are friendly and frequently refilled tea and water cups. They have also made some upgrades to the appearance. There is a pretty tile backsplash behind the sushi bar and nice light fixtures. They did say the new menu items are only at this location. I hope they bring them to Edison and other locations eventually. I would go back just for those salmon battleships and senbei! read more

Past experience (more than 6 years ago) was great, I just don't know was it supply chain affect the food quality, or other reason that I was not as impressed as I used to. I know I am giving a review to an all you can eat sushi buffet, but usually one of several dishes would stand out and I would order a second round of that particular one. This time it was plain, plain that make we wonder if it would be better to get some sashimi from woo-ri mart in the area. If you are in a mood for some sushi I would recommend going for the sushi bar (20 plus dollar per person). This offer is CHEAPER during week days. If someone asks me if it's worth paying 20 plus dollars per person to go all out with the sushi bar, the answer would be YES! You do not get just a tray of sushi, it comes with all kinds of soups, appetizers ( katsu, seaweed salad and more), teas and ice creams. All the food was very well prepared and laid out. If you DO NOT want to wait for awhile to get a table ( it seems like one of the main complains about this location) get here earlier! Of course I get the fact that this is a Chinese owned sushi restaurant (just like 90% of the other sushi restaurants throughout the country) but what's wrong in that? This was a terrible sushi experience. My two lunch mates and I regret stepping inside. Everyone was very nice only because nobody understood our complaints. Service was terrible. Their "MO" is to have you wait 20 minutes after ordering for them to serve you a large platter of the requested sushi. You then ravenously devour the offerings filling you up. Between this Sushi Palace and the one at Somerville, I'm not sure which one I like more. The quality of the sushi here is some of the best that I've tried because the fish always tastes fresh. I am happy to say that I have never felt sick after eating here. Thus, the All You Can Eat price is for sure worth it, especially if you are a fan of sashimi. Eating unlimited sushi and other food from their menu (including ice cream) for $23 on a weekday is a huge plus and why I keep coming back. I also think they have good lunch specials with decent portion sizes for their prices. You can't go wrong with the Spicy Seaweed Salad. I have yet to find another restaurant that makes one like the one here at Sushi Palace. Even if you don't like spice, you can easily eat this salad, just be prepared for a bit of a kick. I also find that their Fried Ice Cream is one of, if not the, best that I've had. The ice cream is not too frozen and there is plenty of tempura. Another plus is that the tea is free including refills. One huge pet peeve of mine is when an Asian restaurant charges a lot for green tea. The aspect that seriously stops me from giving Sushi Palace 5 stars or even 4 stars is their service. No matter when I go, it is difficult to get the attention of our waiter, and they never come back unless we flag them down. Thus, I usually have an empty glass of water or tea for an extended period of time too. In general, it feels chaotic and many of the waiters seem confused. One incident that stood out to me was when the waiter brought my dad a completely different order than what he said. Instead of acknowledging her mistake and trying to get the correct order back to him, she kept half-apologizing until my dad said it's fine and he'll just eat whatever she brought him. Another time my dad ordered chicken katsu and instead of bringing him the correct sauce they somehow gave him chocolate sauce. I'm not even sure how this happened, but it's hilarious thinking about it. Overall, Sushi Palace has high quality food and good deals for AYCE and lunch, so if you can deal with the poor service, definitely try it out! read more

We're no strangers to all-you-can-eat sushi places and damn proud of it! You don't have to fret about whether to order this roll or that nigiri or this sushi regular or that sashimi deluxe. No one is going to frown down their noses at you for mixing gobs of wasabi in your soy sauce, dunking and coating every last inch of your California roll in it either. You pay one price, check off everything on the 2 order lists (kitchen & sushi bar) wait for the giant platters to come to your table and dive-in with chopsticks flailing and sushi rice flying! For the past several years after our participation in the Mercer County dragon boat festival, we've made AYCE sushi a team tradition. It's lucky that Sushi Palace is within a reasonable drive from the park and that they can accommodate a hoard of hungry dragon boaters. The 2 dining rooms and 5-6 sushi chefs certainly helps because other teams seem to have found the place as well. It has not been too crowded in previous years, but there were people waiting outside this year and we were lucky that we made a reservation for 30. You can start with soup, salads and cooked appetizers. The spicy seaweed salad is pretty good and I always enjoy some good gyoza and yakitori. We certainly made the chefs earn their pay with the mountains of sushi that each table ordered. A lot of specialty maki rolls, nigiri sushi and sashimi are featured on the checklist. All the regular maki rolls are available as handrolls as well. Just indicate HR next to your choice. My favorites usually have unagi (eel). Put some eel in a handroll with avocado or in a dragon roll, put it on a nigiri rice ball or lay it out sashimi style and I'll eat it. Maybe mix in some shrimp tempura. Call it a Dancing Eel Double Dip Hoboken roll, I don't care, but our hungry team will put it away after a whole day of races. Did we save room for dessert? There is always room for ice scream! Choose the Asian flavors like Red Bean or Green Tea or more traditional American flavors like Vanilla or Chocolate. Get an extra bowl or two if you want because it's already included in the price. If you're lactose intolerant, you can always get a slice of fresh orange, but I would suffer through another bowl of Red Bean for the team. read more

One of the best "all you can order" sushi places I have been to. They are not stingy about the portion of the sashimi, that's super super important for an "all you can order" place. All of the fish tasted fresh. Service was efficient and quick. Price is $26.95 pp which is fair. Even on a slow night, I was impressed how quickly everything came out. I haven't been here in 7 years or so. My friend and I used to come here during our college days. This recent visit, I was pretty disappointed. The sushi wasn't good. My friend and I came with plans to binge on sushi. But we were left disappointed that we only focused on the other food. I got two rounds of the seaweed salad and spicy seaweed salad. I absolutely love that salad. The spicy one is not really spicy but definitely different from the regular seaweed salad. We got the fish teriyaki which was quite good. I highly recommend it. Everything else was typical. Another favorite of mine was the green tea. You can definitely taste the matcha. I'm giving it 2 stars because the food was available and the service was bad. Our waitress wasn't attentive nor friendly. To me good service adds to the experience of the meal.
