I made the mistake of ordering Chicken Teriyaki when I meant to order Chicken Katsu. When the order was ready for pick-up I told the owner that I was expecting 2 orders of Chicken Katsu. Even though it's my mistake, she generously offered to give me Chicken Katsu for free! I offered to give tip to thank her for her kind gesture, but she told me it's not necessary and said that it's good luck for the new year. I am going to keep this short and simple. I have loved this place ever since it was in Princeton Marketfair MANY years ago. I was sad when it moved further away up Route 1 but still close. Ever since COVID-19 hit I was disappointed they were closed and not even takeout but understand. I have been calling them and SO HAPPY when they picked up the phone because I was afraid they might go out of business. I headed over there and got my staple dishes, teriyaki chicken and tempura and fried calamari. The sauces are awesome and so is the food. EXCEPT this order was WAY more food than normal even relegating the salad to a plastic container. The tempura were HUGE and the teriyaki chicken and rice could make two meals for me. This was an all-around odd experience. I ordered on beyond menu as I was staying close by on business. As I walked over, it was difficult to find the food court where this place is located amongst strips of does which close rather early! I finally found the largely abandoned food court, grabbed my food and took it back to the hotel. They were only one of like 2-3 restaurants still in business amongst maybe 6 or so spaces. I don't know how the stay in business, it was kind of sad in there. The food was mediocre, I got chicken katsu Curry Don, the curry was oddly sweet. The katsu was good. The udon noodles were just okay, which was disappointing, I was hoping they'd be better. Finally they ripped my receipt in half the long way and kept half of it, leaving the other half stapled to my bag. After attending a leadership seminar, the attendees all went to get lunch at a food court nearby. At first glance the place looked desolate with limited food options and poor design. However, the food all but made up for the lackluster environment. I had the chicken teriyaki with gyoza and it was really good. The chicken teriyaki was not too soft and had just the right amount of sauce to enjoy the flavor of both the crispy chicken and the teriyaki. The proportions of rice to chicken was also great leaving you with almost no rice left after you finished the chicken. The gyoza was also a great blend of crunchy outer layer with a soft inner one. The food came out very fast despite the large group I was in, and the price was very affordable. I used to come a lot when my office was located closer, but having not been in several years and returning recently on a craving....I can say that Teriyaki boy is just average. The staff is super friendly though, which of course is a plus. But the food itself is lacking. My standard karaage was really soggy, i remember it being more crunchy. They offer curry now, which i got a side of because I love japanese/korean style curry - was nice to dip my karaage in. The tempura was very crunchy, not a tender crisp. The shrimp were okay, and veggies not bad but the batter just was too much for me. I also got a spicy tuna roll and shrimp tempura roll. The spicy tuna roll was not spicy at all, and hardly any tuna. Really disappointing. The shrimp tempura roll was better, but not the best I've ever had. Hubs got a super combo, salmon, shrimp, gyoza. He ate it all, and said it did the trick to fill the belly but agreed we wouldn't be running back unless in the area and need something quick. read more

Visited here for the first time and I'm in love. I live in the Princeton area and wanted some quick-fix Japanese food for lunch so I decided to give Teriyaki Boy a try. Good location, great service, excellent prices. TB is located in the Princeton Forrestal Village shopping plaza, a quiet and pretty center tucked away behind Salt Creek Grille off Route 1. If you park in the parking lot, walk past the fountain in the middle of the plaza and find a set of stairs leading you down to the indoor food court, where TB is located. I called for takeout and my food was ready by the time I arrived there 10min later. I'm impressed by their efficiency and friendliness. The lady who did my check out accidentally mixed up my receipt with another and was very apologetic about it, quickly fixing the mix up. I ordered the squid tempura on rice with squid sushi for only $7.75 after tax. I got A LOT of food for the price...my takeout box was stuffed full and quite heavy. It was really, really delicious. It didn't taste as unhealthy as Chinese takeout, but it was just as flavorful. I got a surprising amount of squid pieces, each was crunchy and chewy with yummy teriyaki (?) sauce. The sushi wasn't the prettiest looking but it was satisfying. The combo also comes with a mini salad. I'm already looking forward to going back for more lunches. I know some may disagree with my rave review, but I can't resist cheap, flavorful, well-portioned Asian food! Definitely check Teriyaki Boy out. read more

We've tried TB for many years now. The portions are fairly generous. The beef or chicken teriyaki have sizeable portions and they are grilled nicely. The sushi is just a side attraction, nothing special. The side salad with ginger sauce is fresh. We always ordered the tempura platter on the side and share it. The seafood platter and the katsu (Tokyo chicken) are also marvelously cooked. Very friendly services from the whole staff, and when we asked for extra sauce, etc. they're always happy to comply. The food and service never disappoint! Note: They are located in the food court part of the Forrestal Village in Princeton (where Marriott is), and over the weekend or weeknights, it's usually pretty quiet and they're often the only one open in the food court. I've had a long history with Teriyaki Boy. For the price in the area you can't beat the quality. The staff is always courteous and helpful, and the food is out quickly. I usually come in the evenings, but they do a very brisk lunch business with the surrounding office buildings. My personal favorite is the squid teriyaki with squid roll; large pieces of squid cooked until tender but not rubbery, delicious. You can't go wrong with any of their platters. I also enjoy the chicken and salmon teriyakis. Their one weak point for me are soups, they're not bad but just not as good as their other menu items. Their sushi is a little rice heavy, but it is also super cheap, so I can't complain. read more

I ordered carry-out prior to leaving Harrisburg, PA and it was perfect timing for the pick-up. So more about this location. It was kind of weird to navigate, park, and find the 'restaurant' in the shopping/business complex. I just wasn't expecting to get out of the car and walk to find the place (sounds lazy, I know). Now having a chance to go to Forrestal Village, I would say they have very good tempura (shrimp/veggie) but the teriyaki (chicken) is not so fresh/good. This is in a food court - in the middle for Princeton Forrestal Village. I've been there 3 times for lunch. It seems to be the big favorite amongst the groups I've met with. There are about 8 different places to get food - and people seem to gravitate to Teriyaki Boy. The sushi is made to order and fresh. It isn't gourmet like one would get in a sit-down restaurant; but a lot better than what I've had at airports. Basically exceeded expectations for a food court - and prices are reasonable. read more

Ordered with a group for delivery. They were fast and got the order 100%. Got the chicken katsu over brown rice with eel cucumber roll on the side + side salad for a total of $10. The portion was huge for the price! The food was unfortunately not very fresh (eel cucumber did not taste wonderful), but for a college-type takeout spot, it does the job. The chicken katsu was surprisingly tasty (might be skewed by the hunger pangs though). I would get this again if ordering with a group, but would not go out of the way to eat here. P.S. FOOD: Been going here even when it was still at the Marketfair plaza. You can't beat affordable quality, honestly. It sounds ridiculous, but I've always been particular with the rice ratio in sushi. Teriyaki Boy has always gotten it right. Their rolls are also small enough that it's in a manageable chewing size. A lot of times, sushi restaurants try to make their rolls elaborate to the extent that it becomes difficult to eat. This has never been the case for Teriyaki Boy! It's all about the consistency. My one reservation about this place are their tempura platters. While I love their shrimp tempura, their shrimp tempura platter will only have 2 pieces but then 8 pieces of vegetable tempura. SERVICE: Kind and consistent staff. Our orders come out pretty quick, too. AMBIANCE: Since it's a food court setting, I usually prefer to take the outdoor seating. Forrestal Village is a beautiful plaza; it's great in the warm weather. The food court itself is nothing special. There's televisions for entertainment, though. read more

This review is BOTH for BeyondMenu and the www.princetonteriyakiboy.com who were both at fault. I placed my order on the www.princetonteriyakiboy.com which is affiliated with BeyondMenu. It was my thought that it would save time to make the order on-line as I concluded some other work. After placing the order, I printed my receipt as a checklist. When I arrived at Princeton Teriyakiboy and viewed their displays along with menu, I was shocked to observe that the BeyondMenu prices were 20% to 30% higher. I told my issue to the cashier, who happened to be the owner. She explained that BeyondMenu marks up the prices 20% to 30% (which was later found to be NOT the truth). At that point, I called BeyondMenu to come to some compromised. They stated that the prices were set by Princeton Teriyaki boy and they would call to resolve the situation. After two phone calls and along with back & forth where BeyondMenu blamed Princeton Teriyaki boy for the pricing (found to be the truth). I decided to return to Princeton Teriyaki boy and resolve the matter with BeyondMenu on speakerphone. After some debate, Princeton Teriyaki boy's owner (the cashier) finally stated that they (Princeton Teriyaki boy) set the prices which were 20% to 30% higher than the menu but stated BeyondMenu is the place where I would need to obtain a "compromise" because they retain the money until the close of the transaction (NOT sure if that was the truth). BeyondMenu did NOT provide a compromise nor worked with Princeton Teriyaki boy to obtain some middle ground (some of my money back). As a result, I would NOT recommend using BeyondMenu or going to Princeton Teriyaki boy. Both have BAD business practices. read more

Only downside is their delivery can take some time. They usually take around 30-45 minutes to deliver, but the last time they took 1.5 hours. Definitely not consistent. Does a brisk and very efficient lunch trade -- mall like cafeteria style seating with the rest of the food court stores, so 0 ambiance. They do enough volume that their fish is fresh. I'm really frustrated. I pre-ordered via a mass third-party website for noon, and have the email confirmation to prove the scheduled delivery time. I then went on a run, leaving my I missed phone calls from the delivery guy at *11:21.* I don't think I was unreasonable in assuming that my delivery would not arrive prior to 11:30, given that I was ensured a scheduled delivery at noon. I called back and was told that a) I could not get my delivery at noon anymore because the delivery guy was already on his way back to the store. Totally understandable. However, I was then told that b) I could not cancel my order either, because the delivery guy was already on his way. What? There's clearly miscommunication between the third-party website and Teriyaki Boy, and I understand that. However, I did not appreciate being spoken to in such a patronizing tone when I was not in the wrong. The woman on the phone made no efforts to apologize for what is clearly an issue in their working relationship with third-party food delivery websites, and I was made to feel stupid. The delivery guy was also incredibly rude, though I'm sure he just wasn't briefed on the specifics of the situation as I don't think the woman I was speaking to was trying to listen to me at all. I'm in town on business and I'm on my own so I thought I'd order some sushi for delivery to my hotel. I ordered online and it was relatively simple. I liked that that was an option since I don't care to talk on the phone to people at restaurants since I don't hear well. However, it look an hour to get my food, which I thought was a little excessive for a Sunday night. I ordered a house salad, a spicy tuna roll, a salmon avocado roll, and a yellowtail roll. The house salad was nice and big and the ginger dressing was very good. However, that ends the positives of my experience. Besides the long wait time, the sushi I got was some of the worst I've ever had. The salmon avocado roll was okay, but the yellowtail roll was fishy and the spicy mayo on the tuna roll tasted really off. I would NOT eat here again if it were free! Go somewhere else! read more
