The Kitchen stuff varied in portion sizing (usually 1 or 2 pieces). The Crispy Rock Shrimp had a good sauce with it. The Sushi Bar Specials ( Tako Salad, Yellowtail Tridito, Pepper Salmon, Octupus Su) were on the smaller side portionwise. Good to try a bite (literally), but definitely order in larger quantities if you enjoy it. The Sashimi/Sushi are sliced small too, which is good if you want to try everything before ordering what you liked. Everything tasted fresh and of decent quality. The Rolls (Pink Lady, Rainbow Roll, Long Island Roll, Mango Avocado, Peanut Avocado, Vegetarian Lovers) all held together well. Love seeing a variety of vegetarian friendly rolls! The Sushi Pizza was on a crisp pancake, which was interesting! We didn't get everything we ordered, but with how much we were ordering, it worked out. We needed room for dessert! We all wanted different amounts and flavors of ice cream to end our meal, so the waitress came over to take our orders individually, so that we got individual combinations. I opted for Vanilla and Red Bean. The Red Bean didn't have much flavor but had a few chunks of red bean. The Vanilla had decent flavor, and I prefered it to the Red Bean. We added in some fried Oreos and it was the perfect sweet ending to the meal. If you're in the area and want some vegetarian friendly rolls or a little bit of everything, this is a good spot to hit. Believe it or not, this was my first time at Sushi Palace, even thought I worked around the block from this restaurant for about 8 and a half years. With so many Asian spots in the area, we kind of stuck with our usuals so it was nice to be able to try this. We sat in the large booth area which fit 8 of us very nicely. We came hungry so it was a bit of chaos with ordering because everyone wanted everything. But once we got it down, we marked our paper menus and handed them over. We ordered from both the kitchen and sushi menu. Everything came in waves. Not everything came out that we ordered. And we didn't know what was what. From what we understand they try to gauge what the group will eat so sometimes not all the dishes come out. But it's AYCE, so just order it again, and that's what we did. We gave the $33 a head price a pretty good run for the money. We ended the meal with ice cream and fried Oreos (tempura style which is my fav). I had the green tea which is such a treat for me. This place is good but I might be biased since ayce sushi is my guilty pleasure, but there are several points here which makes this a decent spot and a spot I would frequent if it were closer to me. The price is what an ayce sushi price would have been about 5 years ago, love the fact that the prices haven't really moved, the sashimi here was pretty good, not great but much better than some of the lower end ayce sushi spots, the place was relatively empty, atmosphere was nice and quiet, staff was super friendly, accommodating, and not really in a rush to shoo you off and the variety of both cooked and uncooked items here are pretty great. Sushi Palace is definitely the third or nth after the flower chairs. The first two were ok but this one is dark and depressing. The wait staff is unpleasant. We ordered off the menu. The food is plenty and quality is ok. Just the atmosphere killed all. There were only three tables during lunch hours this Sunday, that included us. From start to finish this was a horrible experience. Ordered delivery through Uber order was delayed three times due to the restaurant not having this prepared while the Uber driver had to sit outside for about 20 minutes. They missed about half of our order so I didn't get to eat anything. The other items were almost inedible. I only received a partial refund even though items were missed and we couldn't eat any of the items that they did put in the bag. The crispy calamari was so rubbery, I couldn't take a bite. This was a despicable experience that should never have happened. I am not making this up I have yelp elite status and from my reviews you can see I love to give businesses a full five stars. I am a logical fair person and not the kind of person that has a personal agenda with staff. Something needs to be done at this establishment. There is no skimping on the sushi rolls and it is all delicious. You can get a variety of hot items from the kitchen. Tonight I ordered the shrimp tempura, beef rib and the barbecued squid. A really great sushi buffet! It was easy to get seated even though it was a Saturday night, and the servers were patient and quick. Sushi was fresh and marbled. The white tuna and the scallops were especially good. The sashimi were thickly cut and certain orders were personally seasoned by the chef. I was very satisfied with my meal at Sushi Palace. I came on a Sunday around 1PM and there was barely anyone inside. There were tons of tables so we were seated immediately and given the menus but when getting the staff's attention to order, it wasn't as quick as I had hoped it would be. Despite being one of the only parties in the restaurant, the service was just decent. There's also a parking lot in the back with metered parking but since it was a Sunday, it was free parking. I came for the AYCE menu but they do have a regular menu as well and lunch specials that last until 4:30PM. There is a decent variety of both hot foods (lots of fried options) as well as sushi bar foods. All of the hot foods came out freshly fried and not oily. It also tasted cleaner than other sushi buffets that I have been to. The chicken and pork katsu are fried very well and actually have a good amount of meat inside rather than a thin slice of meat. The rock shrimp was also very yummy. As for the sushi, it came out very well presented and the fish was fresh. The rolls were stuffed with filling rather than overstuffed with rice which I definitely felt was worth it. Overall, I do recommend coming here for the AYCE option. The weekend prices are cheaper than most sushi buffets and the quality of the food is better than most as well. Plus, don't forget to end your meal off with ice cream and fried oreos! Pretty solid sushi spot. It's got an All-You-Can-Eat option as well as an la carte menu. This was my first time dining here and I went with the AYCE so I could taste a few different rolls. My friend and I ordered a mix of sushi and cooked items from their menu. Some rolls were much better than the others, but I would definitely return to try the rolls I was too full to eat this time around. There is parking behind the restaurant and also meters out front. Place is just starting back up again so I was pretty lenient about the food quality, until I saw the bathroom. We came here as a pretty large group so as expected from a AYCE Japan area place. Plates and plates of food was being served, which was cool, no one really knew what was what anymore (which makes it fun; I guess) but they were missing some of the orders and also a greater number was when we were told that they didn't have the fried bananas, so we had to stick to the Oreos ( not the worst thing in the world) but would've been better if they had the bananas. I still want to give props to the manager and the server for really trying their hardest, so for that part I would give them 4 stars. I have never gone to this place before because it is not entirely close to where I live, but decided to give it a try with a few friends on a Sunday afternoon. There were not a lot of people at the time, so we were immediately seated. Like any AYCE restaurants, there are papers to fill out for what you want to eat. I will say, even though the restaurant was pretty empty, the service was not the quickest. The waiters were nowhere to be found so we had to wait around for a bit, but the food came out pretty quickly. However, at times, I feel like some of our food didn't come out, but that's okay because we would not have been able to finish it all. As for the food, everything was pretty fresh and flavorful. I would not say that it is something completely different and unique, but it is still good Japanese food to me. We ordered a variety of foods from the kitchen and the sushi bar menus and I did not find anything that tasted horrible. Overall, for the price, which is about $23 per person, I would say the food is pretty worth it. Really like a 3.5 because sometimes you do not always get the amount you ordered ie. i want 20 pieces of sashimi i get like 15. This has happened numerous times as i have come here for years, one summer it felt like every week haha. Quality of food is good love the sashimi and that is unlimited. Decent variety but i've been to other ayce places with way more choices of sushi like special rolls anyways. But i love that they give masago on a cucumber so it doesn't waste any rice just the cucumber lol. But the kitchen food is fine not a fan of the udon though which was disappointing idk the broth wasn't very flavorful. Service is decent they are running around a lot so you will need to catch their attention. Kinda slow on clearing plates. The Tempura pieces were neatly packed but I wish they made a few air holes to keep the food from getting too moist from the steam/heat. Soup was mildly flavored and had a good selection of Tempura: shrimp, eggplant, broccoli, and pumpkin. - Tri-Color sashimi, nicely cut pieces of three kinds of sashimi. Tuna, Yellowtail, and Salmon, 6 pieces of each. - Spicy Tuna Roll, was not that spicy. Could've used more heat. - two pieces a la carte, surf clams. These were not big and not as juicy as I hoped. Skip... Unless you eat it on site. - Fried Oreos for dessert. That I took a photo of! Wanted to see how they did it, Tempura batter on the outside. This in theory, would be a great dessert to order at the restaurant, not to go. Same like before, no air holes in the to go container, so it was a little soggy by the time we uncovered it. The all you can eat is great also with fresh sushi and free desserts as well. The new manger is very nice as well. Sushi palace is one of the best sushi restaurants on middle neck rd. My friend and I were in Great Neck, cuz we originally wanted to eat at Burger Village..but I was turned off by the hectic parking situation around there..so I opted for Sushi Palace for lunch, which has a large parking lot next to it. Once inside..place was DEAD..Loll Only one other table was occupied. Ordered a fair amount of sashimi and 2 specialty rolls. Sashimi was sliced generously, rather thick pieces. I was happy to see they had eel fish on the AYCE menu (River doesn't have that anymore). Food came out after 15mins of waiting. Pro's: - Vast parking lot behind (25 cents per hour!) - Tables not so close together - Generous slices of sashimi - Overall quality of food is very good - Service is good - Inexpensive prices (Surprising given the location in the heart of Great Neck) - AMAZINGLY creamy Ice Cream!! Con's: - Their Iced Water tasted funny.. Worst service ever. Got to the restaurant. 645 p.m. order food. The sushi arrived, anything hot from the kitchen never came out. We ordered it three times. We order seven items. Two came out. Everything was cold. Every time we ask the waiter where's our food. Told they have a party next room. I would tell the kitchen to cook your food. 10 minutes pass. Still nothing. I ask the waitress where our foods. She said don't know and can you fill out the paper again. 10 minutes past again still nothing. She asked me again to fill out the paper and order again. Finally The food come out kitchen but it was cold, so she forgot to bring our table. Now I ask male waiter Where's the rest of the food we order?. He says I will tell the kitchen to work on yours first before the party. By the way, the restaurant was not crowded. At 9 pm, we were still waiting for food our but never got it. I told the waitress to give me my check. She offered me sake but I don't drink. Before I left the restaurant I told the manager terrible service. We still never got our food and was 9: 00. He did not care and just laughed at me. And told the other person that was a b**** in Mandarin. By the way, I do understand. Whether the batter was on the rocky shrimp or tempura, it was clean, seasoned, and not-oily. Which made their fried Oreos super memorable. Sushi on the other hand, it made nicely. The ingredients on the inside was packed and "not-cheap." What I mean by "not-cheap" is unlike other AYCE sushi buffet which stuff it with a lot of rice so you can be full faster. Sushi Palace does not do that, they actually portion it nicely so you can taste the ingredients and not just rice. I would come back to Sushi Palace anytime.
