Was driving by and saw this place. Hmmm ... hubby and I decided it was probably not the best idea to get sushi in the DESERT ... but I wanted to check it out. So thankful that I did. Mom and son working together. Very friendly and helpful. Menu of rolls is long but I finally settled on the rainbow roll. Added 2 nigiri and a CA handrail. I think Mom threw in the tempura shrimp because she told me they were very good (they were). And I couldn't pass up the Korean fish cake in the cold case. I meant to just stop in and walked out with more lunch that hubby and I could eat. Everything was delicious. Homemade with care. The handroll was intentionally not rolled up so that it wouldn't get soggy. Portions were generous and prices were reasonable. I will go again and I hope you do too! We loved the previous sushi spot that occupied this place so were a little apprehensive about trying the new-ish owners, but we really enjoyed our food. The woman encouraged us to try the bento boxes for a good value and it was an excellent recommendation. We had both the salmon and the chicken teriyaki with spicy tuna rolls. So much food! Visiting from LA for a few days and we were craving sushi. We found this gem and we will be back!!!! So so so good, we got 4 rolls and a bento box and it was under $100! We ordered the Arnold Palmer, spicy ruby, teka maki, and frank sinatra, all were a 10/10!! The beef bulgogi bento box with a spicy tuna roll was deliciously good!! We went here expecting a full restaurant but I should have thought about the name. There are places to sit but it is basically a really good sushi "to go" place. We ordered edamame which was perfectly salted, and a very fresh and tasty seaweed salad for starters. Our main dishes were the #1 nigiri combo and a citrus fresh roll. With both meals the fish was fresh with large cut portions. It was all served in to go boxes even when you dine in. They also have a grab and go area where you don't have to wait for it to be made. Inside are a couple of 2 top tables and a counter if you do want to eat in. The lady who took our order was super sweet. They are finally open again! We learned they recently suffered a great loss in the family but the family is stronger and united. This used to be Togo sushi, I think it's changed ownership, the food is good, but sushi pieces are a little bit smaller, but also cheaper than it used to be. I really miss the old place. It's a small place mostly for to go but they have some high top seats for dining in which we did. the owners are so nice and they made everything to order. This VERY small storefront is a hidden gem in the Albertson's plaza at the intersection of Monterrey and Country Club Drive. Friendly owners who are always willing to help with suggestions. Every sushi roll I've had is fresh, full of flavor and reasonably priced. There are only two small tables for two and four seats along a wall, so you'll probably opt for take-out. It's mainly to-go (hence "on the run" in the name), but there are 4 seats along the wall if you want to stay and eat. We were told the shop opened about 3 months ago and it's a very welcomed addition to the area. Prices are also reasonable for the quality. The combo #3 includes: ($29) Spicy Santa Cruz Roll Crunch Roll California Roll The Golden Philly was $11.99 I called in the order with a future pickup time (2 hours) and it was waiting on the counter when I walked in. I can't believe it took me this long to try them considering I live so close. I've gone twice in the last 2 weeks and had the best yellowtail of my life both times. My husband got the Katsu Bento box and couldn't believe the size and quality for the price and he's now as hooked as I am. They are as nice as can be. The place is immaculate. The prices are amazing. WOW! I came down from Santa Cruz to visit Joshua Tree and stopped by this small mom and pop restaurant to grab some sushi and I can't even explain how delicious it was. Such amazing portions, thick cuts of fish, and everything was so flavorful and worth the price. The couple running the shop were so welcoming and helped us out with deciding what to get. After a bit of talking we found out they used to own Shogun Japanese Restaurant in Santa Cruz and it made sense, food is delicious as always. They have so many options, they have a premade section for a quick grab n go, or you can order anything they have off the menu and it will come out hot, fresh, and super fast.
