I ordered negimaki, spicy crab roll, kani salad from here online using GrubHub. First up; They ignored a couple of my requests. I asked for extra pickled ginger and for the plastic-ware to be omitted from my take-out order. Neither was done. Also, I was supposed to receive a free hot and sour soup from a coupon promotion with GrubHub. I don't know if that was GrubHub's fault or Sushi King's, but I wasn't happy. The food was pretty good. The kani salad was a tad greasy, but certainly tasty. The very small amount of octopus on there was rubbery. I think it would be infinitely better chilled and with some shredded carrot. The serving size was also small for ~$6+. The crab roll was decent. No real complaints. Negimaki was definitely the best of the 3 items I ordered, but it was a bit sloppily prepared. Then again, it was takeout. Decent, but room for improvement, for sure. read more

One of my favorite places to eat in Troy. The sushi is amazing and you can't beat the service. I highly recommend this place.

I want to give 5 stars to offset all the negative comments, but I don't find it to be a great place, with great service. I do not like Chinese food, so I can't comment on that. I work at RPI & have gotten their takeout many times. i have only had their sushi, miso soup & that stuff. This place just wasn't very good. I came here hoping for a quick delicious sushi lunch. Unfortunately I got neither! Although this place is called sushi king it is primarily a Chinese restaurant. When I got there at around 11:45 there was no sushi chef so I was stuck ordering off the Chinese menu. I ordered the beef in garlic sauce (it promised to be spicy) with pork fried rice and won ton soup. The won ton soup was okay and while the beef wasn't bad it was by no means good (and not spicy!). The fried rice was the only saving point of this meal. It was cheap atleast, I believe $6 for my meal and a can of coca-cola classic. I would just avoid this place altogether though. read more

If you're looking for excellent Chinese food and high end service, you best move right along. If, however you are craving a fast, cheap (and greasy) chicken and broccoli with a pork egg roll, Sushi King has you covered. Ironically, I would never order sushi from this restaurant based on the sole reason that every time I eat there, I am the only customer in the dining room. With that said, few things scare me more than eating raw fish from a slow sushi restaurant; this is like begging to get food poisoning. read more

Chinese food isn't awful, but after trying on different days with different cooks, I can now safely say the sushi is barely palatable. My advice, if you need Chinese food and are walking by, suit yourself, but avoid the sushi at all costs and go elsewhere. (Don't know why they are called Sushi King then) read more

Yo. This place wins. Always clean, food is always fresh and rarely do I ever have to share air with hippie trash here. I think the staff has the courtesy to sit the free spirits near the bathrooms so not to annoy the other patrons who shower and wear deodorant. But the food is always great. Coming from NYC, I have had the opportunity to try a lot of different Chinese and Japanese cuisine. Since moving to Troy, I have been to this restaurant multiple times and have done both takeout and dine-in. Each time the food was fantastic with great service. The fish used in their sushi is clearly carefully selected resulting in a taste on par with the better sushi available. As for the Chinese food, I would say it is the best I've had. OMG this place was horrible!!!! There were 4 of us,we ordered our meals and only two meals were served (supposedly a mix-up in the kitchen),15 minutes later the meals for our other two friends finally were served. I had the General Tso's Chicken which was practically inedible, it had been fried so long that in was just hard chunks of dried up breading,same for our friend's Sesame Chicken. I see you can be selective with the reviews you keep posted and removed mine. The service I received was awful. The food arrived a half hour later then expected and a part of my order was missing. I ordered 3 seperate 6 packs of sushi for myself and a few others. They grouped it all into one giant container with 3 pieces missing and I was still charged full price. The all around taste was awful. To be fair, their lo mein was good. But I will never be ordering here again. read more

Delivery was fast. Tempura varied from soggy to burnt. I ate my sushi super fast in fear that if i didnt the tuna would go bad right in front of me. It tasted old or something, definitely NOT FRESH. My bf ordered dumplings in peanut sauce, it was 3 dumplings and a quart of thick sauce that overpowered the dumpling [what little there were] and tasted metallic. I'm bumping this bad boy down based on plain rudeness .. around 9:30 on a t.n.o we were looking for some food. We walked over here because I remembered it was open late. Due to a snowstorm I'm sure they had been pretty dead so the dining room was dark. The sign stated they were open until 11 and there were 2 youngish girls sitting at a table playing with a laptop. The doors were open so we walked in and I politely asked if they were still open. I was impolitely notified that they were. One of them got up and went behind the counter looking annoyed. Since the lights were out I asked if it was only for takeout or if we could sit down. The reply? "Uh you could if you want" I have never witnessed so much eye rolling in one conversation. I turned around to look at my companion "ruck cheese fries?" It was agreed. I said Nevermind and we were off. I'm sure the girls were delighted that they could go back to stalking their crushes on Facebook. read more

I don't normally write negative reviews because I know how much of a struggle it can be sometimes for small businesses but after my experience with them last night I have to. It was single handedly one of the worst experiences I have ever had with any restaurant / take out service. I've had poor experiences with them in the past but this one really means I will never go back. I placed my order at 9pm, a half hour before close. Delivery was made at 930. The driver didn't have enough change so I left him a nice tip ($7 on a $20.50 total) I'm normally a nice guy anyways. When I got the food up to my apartment, my girlfriend and I pulled it all out. Not only were we not provided with enough chopsticks / condiments, we knew something else was up right away. Looking at our pints of miso soup you could tell the color was off. Tasting it confirmed. They had watered down the soup so much it just tasted like luke warm miso flavored water. I think I could brew a cup of tea stronger than that. I had a Maki Combo and my girlfriend had an Avocado Cucumber Roll. The rice was soggy, very sticky, and incredibly vinegary. You could tell it was old and they just loaded it up with vinegar to make it stick in the rolls. It was disgusting. I then packed up the food and drove it down to the restaurant to ask for a refund. When I got there all the lights were off. They had closed 10 minutes early and did not answer the phone. I left a polite and professional message stating the problem and provided my name and number. I didn't get a call back the next day, nor am I expecting one. After being out $27 for the poor service they put me through I will never go back nor recommend them to anyone. Like I said I had problems with them in the past but overlooked them because it was convenient to go there. This time was just too much. read more

Wow. I'm really surprised at all the hate for Sushi King! I was here a number of times when I lived in Troy, and I always thought this place was a nice, inexpensive joint to get some decent sushi and/or Chinese food. The service has always been pretty decent, and I'm honestly stymied at some of the complaints of greasiness from previous reviewers. (Then again, I'm a vegetarian who didn't order anything meat-based here, but my omnivorous friends didn't have any complaints, so yeah... still surprising!) I'd recommend it as a solid little Asian joint in downtown Troy, but as evidenced by the previous reviews, YMMV. read more

Friendly service, but the food is very subpar. The orange chicken is the only good thing I've had from here. The Chinese dish selections are often drenched in brown sauce. They also have Japanese food here, which I've never tried. read more

I've had takeout from here multiple times and I've also dined in once; I have yet to be anything less than thrilled with my experiences with Sushi King. The Troy Roll is a game-changer for me.
