It is sad to say that I've had a terrible experience here with my family. We walked in the restaurant and was told to seat ourselves, which was no problem but nobody helped us. My wife went to ask for a manager and then a man finally came to our table after being seated for 13 minutes. The young man asked if I was ready to order and I said no because no one helped us and he shrugged his shoulders and said "well I'm here now." We asked for the manager but the young man said that he was the supervisor and the manager has left out the back door already! What got me was the manager "Ray" had never left and had come talked to us, but he was just like his employees and was not helpful at all. He just apologized and walked away. It's been quite some time since my husband and I have dined at Sushi Hook, but the experience and food remains the same - fantastic! We came in on Sunday afternoon and were seated right away. They are not offering online ordering at the tables. Their QR Code directs you to their website, where you add your items to the cart and then send it to the kitchen. We started with their mixed tempura - yummy! The batter was crispy and flakey. The portion was perfect to start our meal. The rolls we ordered were good too, the pieces were a bit too big to eat in one go though. lol The service was ok, because they have this new online ordering...its more difficult to get someone's attention. Very good sushi and you get your money's worth at Sushi Hook. The sushi rolls are huge. I had the Hero which was a roll with pickled jalapeno, avocado, cucumber, and cream cheese. Topped with spicy tuna with sweet and spicy mayo sauce. I also had the Bay which was a roll with spicy tuna, deep-fried shrimp, and cucumber. Topped with salmon, yellowtail, albacore, tuna, and jalapeno with sauteed onions, sweet sauce, and spicy mayo sauce. Both rolls were very good. In addition to sushi rolls, I had a dinner bento box with beef teriyaki, tempura, and tonkatsu for $21.95. For the size and quality, I thought it was a good price. I took home a lot of leftovers. You can find better sushi else where but the ambience here is really nice and it's a quiet area so it's not bad for a quick spot to eat and go. The service wasn't really that great because they took forever to help us with everything but we did get to order ourselves on our phones which was pretty cool. my original total was 21.56 and i wrote no tip because they had already tacked on auto gratuity for 3.05 bringing my total to 21.56 and so i wrote no tip because they already added on auto gratuity then after i wrote no tip and i very clearly wrote no tip they then added a tip on after the fact to bring my total to 25.94 so they added a tip on top of a tip that i did not authorize!!!!!!!!!!! i disputed the over charged portion with my bank chase and so far they temporarily credited me back 4.38 which was the overcharged portion, but i want to be sure i am for sure getting that back and that the restaurant will not deny the dispute resulting in the charges being put back on my account. for now i have a temporary win, but i dont trust this restaurant in my dispute process with chase bank would love the full amount back of 21.56 since i already got back the 4.38. read more

Time for an updated review. Sadly I went from a 5 star to a now 3 star review. On our most recent visit, service was deathly slow. They did have signage up saying they were short staffed which I get but it was hardly busy and I counted 3 wait staff. We sat and received waters immediately but then nothing for a really long time. We tried getting our servers attention and even said excuse me multiple times when she was done helping the tables next to us, but she didn't acknowledge us at all. Finally she came and my friend asked if they have any rolls with real crab versus imitation, she didn't know, said she'd ask and disappeared for another 10 minutes! For what it's worth, they only offer imitation crab. We ordered edamame, bbq albacore and 4 other rolls. Unfortunately I was over the service so I forgot to take photos and only remember the Dragon Roll and the Bay roll, can't remember the other 2 rolls, but everything tasted just ok. Honestly 3 of the 4 rolls tasted exactly the same. The BBQ albacore was horrible! I should have read my review again before ordering because that sauce is not it! It was also over cooked and way too dry. Overall, it's hit or miss service with mediocre food. Price points are still pretty decent though. 4 rolls, edamame and bbq albacore was $70ish. Unfortunately it probably won't be on my radar for sushi any time soon if at all. read more

Today walked in no wait , as always sushi hook is one of our favorites .. we sat down waitress we a friendly and brought us our water , we downloaded the QR code and put our order in right away .. started off with a salad it was much larger than the past so we shared it super tasty dressing , we ordered three rolls tasted really good and fresh today. My bfs favorite roll is baked scallop that's why it's his favorite spot , I got red dragon I like the spicy tuna on top, and then he got the dragon as well. There are lots of sushi places in town, but it isn't always easy finding a really good sushi restaurant. Sushi Hook definitely ranks up there! In terms of aesthetics, it's basic, but always busy ( so, be patient with servers...can be slow service at times). The food is well worth the wait. Three of us split five rolls (Hero, Inferno, Lambada, Poke, and Highway). The pieces are very large and flavorful, and we enjoyed every single roll. Plus, with an appetizer and three bowls of Miso, it came to just $75. Really good food and so worth the price. Definitely going back. read more

Golden Dragon roll had rancid fried shrimp inside of it. I couldn't eat it and had to throw away the entire roll. I've eating there a couple of times and must say their sushi is too notch, I have got to dine in but they do serve some basic beers (Sapporo and Tsingtao)and simple cocktails too. Their dinning area seemed a bit tight, and they are well busy from the noon time til like 9~10 Ian most weekdays but open til like 11:30 on weekends. This place was so good! It got really busy while we were there around dinner time so I recommend trying to get there early on a Saturday night. The service was awesome and the food was even better. We got a bento box for kids to share and four rolls and everything was delicious, the variety of veggie rolls was great which is a rare find. It was also very clean and there was a lot of seating. They also had regular and less sodium soy sauce which I really appreciate when I go for sushi. I am from the bay and I picky about sushi and this gave me a Bay Area feel with more reasonable prices. This is for bad service and for wasting my time and gas. I placed an order to be picked up. Specifically roll special and island roll. They notified me that my order was ready. I drove all the way home to find out my roll was missing with my special. I had to drive back thru the rain for their mistake to retrieve my dinner. My dinner is cold because it's been at home to complete my order for THEIR mistake. It's very disappointing that they make customers suffer for their mistakes. Hospitality is all out the door and I'm giving one star because I wasted more money just having to go back to fix their mistake when they should have completed and double checked the order before I left hence me placing an online order. I've been coming here since I work close by and I would always get lunch whenever I have a chance but this morning this waiter was very rude. I'm working today so I decided to order to go as usual and i totally understand that he put me on hold because they were busy. I waited patiently and he finally took my order. I only wanted 3 miso soups which cost $1.95 each, 1 white rice for $2.50, and a side of plain udon noodles with no soup, just boiled plain noodles which is not listed how much on their menu but I assume it would just be less than $10 since it's just a side and nothing serve with it at all. I wanted to make sure so I called back to check my total and he was very rude telling me in a yelling and annoyed tone that the noodles was $10 so everything was $20 and just hung up right away. I totally understand they're busy and everything is getting expensive now and if he wasn't being rude, I would've still place the order but I decided to cancel after I call back. It makes me don't want to support this place. I called respectfully, and waited patiently and don't deserve this kind of attitude. There's times where they're busy and i even call 20 minutes ahead to order but when I go in I still have to wait another 20 minutes and that's already half of my lunch time but I understand and always waited patiently because I understand how busy it can get. My wife and I showed up looking like a biker couple from sons of anarchy and still received stellar service. We had our pit bull certified support animal by our sides and we couldn't be happier with how the staff interacted with her. Xena loved this place too and although she doesn't eat sushi, we could tell by the dramatic look in her sweet eternal puppy eyes that she wanted some.
