the menu of a japanese restaurant

Mediocre food mediocre service mediocre stars... Service was lacking. We asked for condiments when we ordered our meals. Reminded the server agin when our food got delivered that we still needed condiments. Waited while the food got cold for awhile. I finally got up from the table and went to where the servers were to go ask for it. The check was brought out while we still had plates on the table and while we were still working on our dinner. How did she know we didn't want dessert? Miso soup was great! Veggie Fried rice was tasteless: 1.5 stars The two rolls we tried were really tasty, but the ingredients could've been more fresh...Spicy salmon roll and some special roll with tuna in the roll and on top. On the upside, they really were spicy! Yum!

Salmon and Red Snapper Sashimi

Not many sushi places in the Shreveport area. This was one that I found and it was decent. A bit small and moderately busy when arrived. Ordered the monkey brain for the appetizer. It was okay. The outside tempura breading was a bit much. The titanic sushi roll was good. The main point of the meal was the sashimi. I like to judge a sushi facility based on the sashimi. Originally ordered the uni and toro, but they checked and didn't have any in stock. So instead, I ordered the red snapper, salmon, and scallop sashimi. When the sashimi came out, I was impressed by the presentation and cuts. Very thick cuts that were pretty good. Nothing amazing like Kata Robata in Houston, but good nonetheless. Overall a good experience.

Just moved to Shreveport and was hungry for some good sushi... a few friends recommended this place and man were we disappointed. Very over priced for low quality food. The sushi tasted very bad and barely had any rice on it. Very upset and will not be trying this place again :(

Bad customer service.

I want to start by explaining that the ONLY reason I'm even giving 1 star is because at least our waiter was embarrassed and apologized for the situation and 'resolution' offered to me by his management. I had the sashimi sampler and when it came to the table it had a long black hair wrapped over and under the sashimi pieces. Not good, but I understand that things like that do happen. So I alerted the staff to this. I did not want a replacement either because the freshness of the sashimi was not to my personal standards - which I know are high since I grew up on the coast and had super fresh fish most of my life. Again not something I would give a bad rating for because the fish is fresh enough at this place. Now to my complaint- I expected to get the plate taken off my bill due to the hair alone, however instead it was explained to me that the hair must be MY hair since none of the cooks or the waiter have long hair (as far as I could tell, there were plenty of female waiters etc that did have long black hair, but why argue). MY hair is bright red and shoulder length, and as you can see in the picture THAT is a black hair that is way longer than shoulder length. I could have argued and proven to them that it's impossible to be MY hair, but that's not what I wanted to spend my lunch time AND my boyfriend's birthday lunch with. So I paid for the subpar plate and resolved to never frequent the place again instead. If you, like me, believe in good customer service, word of advice: Don't go to Sushi Gen.

Blaxk dragon roll

I had an amazing roll from Sushi Gen last night. If you like spicy tuna, get the Black Dragon roll you will not regret it. It was very fresh, tasty with eel added on top with the eel sauce (which is thicker, color of soy sauce and not actually made of eel like it sounds). All the flavors complement each other and have a party in your mouth! Normally when I get spicy tuna I don't get the kick I want, but this one had me do a double taste (mouth equivalent to double take)! The waiter on the phone initially told me 20 minutes for my roll but it was ready for me when I came in 15. Everyone is very polite and inside has a nice intimate atmosphere that made me want to dine in. There is a huge parking lot in the back so keep driving. Don't give up after seeing the front spots taken like I almost did. All in all, I will definitely be back. After seeing rave reviews on yelp prior to my visit, I can see why it has 4 stars. You earn it Sushi Gen!

It may look modest from the outside, but I had some great udon and California rolls from here. We also had an attentive waitress.

Otoro, $11 for 2 pcs of sushi. Not that fatty

Recently gave birth, and what better way to celebrate than with sushi and sashimi for lunch! Parking was a bit confusing, so we parked in front of Chianti. We walked in and were seated right away. Ordered agedashi tofu, sushi regular (combo with 9 pcs of sashimi, 6 pcs maki and 3 pcs sushi) and otoro sushi. I was impressed that our agedashi tofu had really great flavors! The tofu coating was crisp, and the sauce tasted really flavorful. Sashimi were nicely cut, and were really fresh! Their rice for the sushi and maki were cooked al dente, and seasoned really well! I also liked their rice to protein ratio because they don't skimp on their protein! The only thing I did not think was worth it was the otoro, because it seemed like a poor grade fatty tuna. Bill came out $74 with some cents, plus the tip for the server and the sushi chef. In my opinion, Sushi Gen is the best sushi place in town. :)

2 sushi rolls $34.97. They've gotten way too expensive. There are lots of sushi places around where you can get decent rolls for less

We stopped in right when they opened and the experience was great from the start. The owners are Venezuelan, and the hospitality really stood out. They were incredibly welcoming and even told us not to worry about paying until after we finished eating, which made the whole visit feel relaxed and personal. The food was incredible. Everything tasted fresh and full of flavor, and we both ordered full meals along with Cuban coffee. The coffee alone was worth it -- strong, rich, and exactly what you want after a good meal. The atmosphere honestly reminded me of being back in South Florida -- authentic Latin flavors, friendly owners, and a laid-back vibe that makes you want to come back again. Highlights * Authentic Latin/Venezuelan flavors * Extremely welcoming owners * Delicious Cuban coffee * Great change of pace from the typical local options If you're tired of the same restaurant rotation and want something authentic and flavorful, Miami Latin Kitchen is a great spot to try.

We appreciate the complimentary hummus & bread however the flavors & texture is not what I have been accustomed to. The pita bread tasted commercial & over saturated with butter. Our side dish was not appetizing, cranberries on rice tasted canned (so much rice!) & main dish protein was undercooked. 2.5/5. Thankful for this One & Done experience. Gave it a try on the long shot that its under-patronage was due to location. If you can hold off, save your ME appetites for the DFW area. Hope this helps. The room was beautiful in a quiet, elegant way, thoughtfully put together, warm and welcoming. And the people... every single waitress greeted us with kindness, but Miss Tammy -- oh, she was something special. The kind of person who makes you feel like you've known her forever. So sweet, so genuine, the kind of service you don't forget. The food came out and from the very first bite, it was clear this was a place that cooks with love. The eggs, the omelet, the French toast -- everything tasted like comfort. And then there was the millionaire bacon -- perfectly caramelized with brown sugar and just a touch of chili flakes. Sweet, smoky, with a gentle heat that teased your taste buds like heaven. Absolutely unforgettable. The portions were generous in the best way, and the prices were more than fair, especially for a breakfast that leaves you full and happy. But listen... the coffee. That coffee wrapped around you like a warm blanket. And then came the meat pies -- crispy, flavorful, absolutely unforgettable. Paired with those potatoes -- golden and crisp on the outside, soft and tender on the inside -- perfectly made, just the way they should be. The owner was there today too, sitting with friends, laughing and enjoying himself, and somehow that made the place feel even more real -- like you were stepping into a slice of everyday life, not just a restaurant. If you're looking for a true southern breakfast, a place with heart, warmth, and soul -- this is it. This is where you go when you want to feel something, not just eat. We'll be back. Without a doubt. And Miss Tammy -- thank you. You made the day brighter than you know.

Needless to say we have now been sitting in this restaurant for over an hour with a cup of coffee and no food. If you want a quick breakfast spot, this is not the place. I would not recommend coming here with children because I cannot imagine them waiting patiently for an hour for breakfast. I have yet to receive our food even after writing this long review.
