Boom boom roll.... dunno what's with the salad. Pretty spicy
    Michael T.

Nope. I heeded the warning of "good food, bad service" and decided to order some rolls to go. Never again. The service is an issue even in this regard, my order was noted as ready (used Waitr) just to wait another 20 minutes while servers seemingly confused as to who was handling what. Finally I asked and the order was "found" and had been ready for some time. Waitress even made the comment "damn waitr is a headache, we shouldn't use it". While I waited I got to look around and was growing ever more concerned about my food. The place is dismal. Seems only one half of the dining room is used, the other being storage for whatever it was before it was Ichiban, pressure washers, boxes etc etc. The place is dirty, not from lack of daily but gross neglect over a period of time. Half the lights work, lighting in general is spotty, dust clinging to everything. The two rolls I ordered were upsetting. The boom boom with some sort of salad (didn't dare try it) and hardly any ingredients that support its price but was spicy, and not of what you would expect, but obnoxiously so with spice coming from a source I couldn't quite pinpoint. The beauty and the beast roll should have been just called the beast roll. Fish was laughably unfresh, tuna devoid of all color, eel overcooked , old and slimy. I cannot imagine the financial struggle this business is in, and honestly if it were not being for its location in the mall would likely have gone under some time ago. A complete remodel, refresh etc etc is what is needed , but this will be my last time trying here.

Ichiban was located on the outside of a shopping mall. There were a handful of people eating here but it wasn't busy around 8:30pm. There were a lot of choices on the menu and it was tempting to order multiple things. I ended up ordering the Hibachi Steak Plate ($11.95). My coworker ordered the Spicy Udon. Both of our orders came with a salad and miso soup. The salad was nothing special and the miso soup tasted like what miso soup should taste like. The Hibachi Steak Plate was pretty good and the portion was a lot. I definitely got my money's worth. The Spicy Udon was really spicy since my coworker kept drinking water. lol The staff here was friendly and nice. I thought this was good place for some Japanese food.

Shrimp and rice with extra sauce

Stopped in again to grab a quick, affordable and absolutely delicious lunch. Shrimp and rice, this time i ordered a little extra sauce, great decision. The salad was refreshing. The soup was delicious and warm going down. The waiter was very attentive and pleasant. This was a very good eating experience.

So apparently it's like shake and bake according to the waitress. You can't pick the sushi for your combo platter, but you can request them not to put things that you would hate on your plate..... I really liked the straight calamari it's a new twist on an old favorite. Food was interesting waitress tried to explain what the white fish and red fish were she is the head waitress!! And is pretty sure it's tuna. It's so hard to tell. She had to leave us the check, because she needed to do next weeks schedule and let us know just to flag down another waitress and she was nice enough to sweat all on our table while giggling about how some ppl don't like it. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who enjoys the described encounter.

    Miso?

Typical fake Japanese restaurant in the mall. Sushi is sub-par. Miso is instant and is NOT served with a metal spoon in it...

Sat at sushi bar and got this complementary orange!

My party and I had a wonderful experience at Chen's Garden in Shreveport. We started with the crab…read morerangoons, which were fried perfectly with a rich, flavorful crab filling. We also tried the soft-shell crab--it was beautifully presented and tasted incredibly fresh. One guest ordered the seafood combination dinner and said everything was well-cooked, fresh, and perfectly seasoned. The fried rice that came with the seafood dinner was cooked very nicely with egg and great texture. Another had the orange chicken, and although there were several chili peppers in the sauce, it wasn't too spicy--just right. The orange flavor really came through, and everything was fried crisp, not soggy. I ordered the Dragon and Phoenix dinner (General Tso's chicken and shrimp with onion and ginger slices), and it was hands down the best General Tso's I've ever had. The shrimp were beautifully cooked, and I opted for lo mein instead of rice--it was fresh, lightly sauced, and not oily at all. This is not a buffet, and honestly, it felt like stepping back 40 years to when Chinese restaurants were more intimate, authentic, and personal. The staff was friendly and courteous, and the time from ordering to receiving our food was impressively quick. I highly recommend this hidden gem. They also offer sushi and a variety of lunch specials (we visited outside of lunch hours), and everything looked so good that I'll definitely be back to try more dishes.

The California Roll in the combo was delicious and well-made.

It's a shame because the establishment is great and the ambiance is reminiscent of upscale Japanese dining. Service was very slow at first. It took 25 minutes to get our soups and salads and an additional 10 to get our sushi rolls. I ordered two hand rolls, when they got to my table they were in the shape of cigars, more like uncut rolls than hand rolls. Our server seemed to be in a disagreement with the host and kept disappearing for extended periods of time. Our cook was something else. After my son told him it was my birthday, he seemed to do things to intentionally make the experience miserable. He started by pouring Yum Yum sauce on the noodles while they were on the grill, much to the disgust of mine as well as other parties at the table. As he served food, he gave extras to everyone but me and kept saying things like "birthday girl, how do you like that?" It's fine, I want food that I paid for and wasn't expecting extra, it just seemed sort of odd. He proceeded to undercook my scallops and overcook my filet. When I asked for extra Yum Yum dip, he slid a greasy bottle from his cart over to me. The party next to us looked at him and said "Are you serious?" It sucks that I drove 30 minutes and picked this place because of the high praise it had received on here. Will not be returning.
