We love Sushi En. We've been coming since it opened, and our daughter has grown up eating here. We almost always start with the spicy crab salad. Our favorite sushi rolls are the Sunday Morning, Diablo, and Firecracker, although the new Last Samurai is becoming a fast favorite! Our daughter loves the salmon nigiri, edamame, and cucumber rolls. We've celebrated everything from finding out we were pregnant to every birthday and anniversary. There have been times we've gone three days in a row! The best California rolls I've had since I left the West Coast. Plenty generous with the avocado and crab, which is important! they definitely don't skimp. First impression is--basic strip mall sushi spot. As another reviewer mentioned, it's a bit odd to have so few Asian nationality people working a sushi place, but not a big deal. Started with the miso soup which was quite good. Extra points for stocking the 21oz. Sapporo. Edamame was okay,not great. The a la carte menu was pretty pricey. $9.95 for a basic California roll. $3-5 a piece for sushi or sashimi. Usually get 2 pieces for that price. This is only the second time I have been here with the first being several years ago. My husband and I stopeed by for a quick, impromtu weekday lunch. He ordered the chicken terryaki bento box, and I ordered the Californa Sushi Combo. It's a bit pricey for lunch, but you get a TON of food! Both began with Miso soup and salad with ginger dressing. The dressing isn't one of my favorites, but I've definately had much worse. The chicken terryaki was severed with a a small crab salad, california roll, and edemame - such an awesome addition. My combo was served with a california roll, spicy california roll, and a california hand roll. All were very good, but the spicy was my favorite. The spicy mayonaise was actually in the roll verses being on top. This was a very good meal, and I look forward to being able to explore the menu further. read more

Save yourself a trip and don't come here. Smells funny in the restaurant. The tables were sticky which was weird. They forgot one of my rolls like ok i can forgive you on that, that's not a big deal... the big deal was the hair we found in my boyfriends sushi. Was definitely not either of our hair! Also side note this place is way to expensive to be served not fresh nasty sushi! For 2 people we spent over 50$ I wouldn't have even paid 20$ for this. My 5 year old daughter and I went for a quick lunch. Since it was lunch, I didn't go big with the sushi. I got the shrimp/veggie bento box and my daughter got the miso soup and edamame. All the food was very good and came out fast. Unfortunately, the server was very uninterested. He went back and popped his earbud in to watch his iPhone several times and wasn't very friendly. I almost didn't go because of other reviews about the service. Long story short -- food is great. Service is not. If we were to go back it would be for convenience. Came here on a spur of the moment visit. The sushi guys were entertaining, and made me little treats while I was waiting since I was the only person at the sushi bar. It felt nice that they went out of their way to do little things to entertain me since I was sitting alone. Service was amazing, and you could tell the food is well thought out and people who know what they are doing are making the food. Will definitely continue to come back! A friend from work and I met for lunch here today and I really enjoyed it. It was my first time visiting and while I was impressed with the enormous selection the menu was actually a bit intimidating and I found it hard to find things with the way it was broken down. I wanted to see if they had Tempura Vegetables but had to look over several pages to find it under "vegetarian appetizers" instead of there just being one "appetizer" section. The service was very quick and the food was very good. We went when they weren't busy as we were hoping for some time to just sit and chat. There were several empty tables so we weren't preventing them from seating any other guests but the server kept staring at us and hovering near the table so I got the impression she wanted is to leave so we cut things short and hurried out. Otherwise a very nice experience and I will be sure to give them another try. read more

My favorite sushi place. I've been coming here for several years. The staff always remembers me, despite me coming in at odd hours and always eating alone while reading a book (I always stop in before heading to work.) The decor is simple and nice. The service is fast and the staff is very nice. I usually order the same thing; Spicy Crab Salad to start, which is a delicious heaping mound of spicy crab over cucumber, followed by the Dynamite Roll, which is a special baked roll, and the Caterpillar roll, which is spicy tuna wrapped in avocado and topped with masago. The rolls are big and very filling, and the fish is always fresh. The orange that you get with the check is a nice touch. read more

I must have went on an "off" day, because I was totally not impressed by Sushi En. I was really excited to try this place out after all the rave reviews on here. I was expecting a good quality meal, but I left with a "meh...." feeling. We came to this location in the early evening. I'm guessing shortly after their first rush, but the place was dirty. There were crumbs and crap on the floor that needed swept up. The server took their time getting over to us. What really killed it for me was the burnt smell. It smelled like someone charred something on a grill, but then left it there for about 5 hours. Not the best smell to appease someone's appetite. We ordered some basic rolls, and were very underwhelmed by the quality, and the over all taste. Not to mention you get a little pissed once you receive your bill and realize you just put the sushi chef's kid through college and your reward was crappy subpar sushi and an outrageous bill. Yeah, domo arigato. 1 star for the orange palate cleanser instead of the typical ginger. I might give these guys another try in the future, but for now... I'm not recommending them. read more

They say they have the bet sushi in Ohio, which I cannot agree (Got to go to Little Tokyo for that). That said, it's really good sushi and really good Korean food. The service is fine and you can expect average soup. The miso tho was above average. read more

I visited Sushi En for lunch the other day. It is a nicely decorated and clean restaurant in an odd little spot attached to the Rave, but whatever. I got one of their lunch sets and some hot green tea. The tea came out lightly brewed and piping hot, which is how I like it. I enjoyed the miso soup, though it could have used more tofu. The flavor was pretty light, which is nice for lunch. The set had three simple rolls: salmon, tuna, and cucumber. All three were great. The fish was fresh and firm, and the cucumber was crisp and clean, The sushi rice was VERY tasty. I usually only notice the rice if it was bad; it was great to be pleasantly surprised by it. The service was fast and friendly. I didn't have to wait for anything, even though there was a decent crowd. The bathroom was in a beat up corner by the bar, which was disappointing. I am glad I didn't make the pit stop before eating. It might have put me off. Though the blues music they had playing almost made up for it. I will likely be back to Sushi En. The food and service are certainly well executed read more

My husband and I went here for the first time yesterday. I had been meaning to try Sushi En as my brother has been going for years and he raves about it. We split 4 different rolls: the last samurai, double crunch, sushi en, and firecracker rolls. The last samurai and firecracker rolls were our favorite. The service was excellent and prompt. The place was clean and conveniently located by Polaris and the movie theater. All of the sushi was fresh and diverse. We cannot wait to return again for more sushi. This is one of the few non chains in the Polaris area if you're looking for something different or want to get your sushi fix since there aren't many options up there. I believe they are Korean owned so they have some Korean options on their menu too. I've never been there for lunch so maybe they have some good specials. I'm not a huge fan of their spicy crab salad, but I do enjoy their rolls. I've mostly had the cooked or fried rolls. We've gotten sashimi, and it's a large portion and bigger slices of fish so you get your money's worth. I'm very picky about tuna so I just couldn't eat it here (my sister did), but I did enjoy the yellowtail and white tuna/escolar. Whenever I'm in the area, I definitely would go there, but since I'm in the UA area, I'd prefer different options with not having to drive all the way out there. read more

Ok so I used to love Sushi En. A few years ago the quality was actually really good, but they have really fallen down. The sushi is now bland and the fish isn't good. Last time I was there the tuna was not a very vibrant color like it should be and the chefs just seemed to be throwing assorted products back into their cold case. I don't get the other foods but my friends have said it isn't very good. The noodle bowls especially are just salty and off putting. This makes me sad but I will no longer be going here. read more

In my opinion this is the best sushi in Columbus and it really is not even close. Their standard rolls are as good as they come but the custom-made rolls that are unique to this restaurant are what I live for! Most of the servers have been at this restaurant for years and will certainly greet you with a warm smile. Like the chefs they are pros who are great at what they do: making and serving amazing food! I have eaten at many others sushi restaurants around Columbus and found Sushi En to be affordable when compared to the others. Delicious sushi! I also got the pork potstickers, which came out piping hot and very yummy. Everything was really good and took maybe 20 minutes to get to us. This is a small restaurant; if you have a big group it's probably best to call ahead. I will definitely be back and am excited to try different things. read more

Great vegetarian selection of sushi rolls, but an upcharge of a dollar per roll if you want soy wrappers instead of nori. That's pretty steep! It's 50 cents a roll at the few other places in town where you can substitute. Which is the reason Sushi En is getting a four instead of a five. Otherwise, the restaurant was decorated nicely, everything seemed clean, and our server was attentive. The avocado roll was tasty, and the sweet potato roll was delicious as well. The plum/cucumber wasn't for me, but the quality was good. I was just expecting a sweet plum instead of a pickled version. At the end of the meal there were two mistakes on my bill, but the server took care of them immediately with lots of apologies, and we were given cute little oranges for dessert that were just the right size to end a good meal. I'm currently the mayor of Sushi En on Foursquare, so clearly I am a fan. I have always had very fresh sushi here and the menu brags an impressive array of rolls in addition to the "old standards" (Philly, California, etc.). What's more, the chefs are very accommodating when it comes to special requests. My one complaint is the pace of the service. My husband and I had dinner here tonight and there were perhaps a handful of other tables, yet it still took close to an hour to get our food. And, the last time I swung through here for takeout, I waited in the lobby area for 45 minutes just for a sweet potato roll and 4 pieces of salmon nigiri. Not a huge fan. For me sushi should be a mix of textures and flavors. Something creamy (like cream cheese or avocados) juxtaposed against something crunchy (tempura). Otherwise, the flavors get all muddled and it just tastes blehh... For me, the sushi was OK. It was blehh. Nothing special about the texture and flavor combinations. It's been a good while since I've been in here so I thought it was time to write an update. The reason for the delay seems to be money or a lack thereof. Their prices seem to go up and they're not a good value anymore. But I came during happy hour and only ate two rolls. And they were both great! I didn't recognize any of the sushi chefs or the servers though. read more

The first couple of times we went here we loved it. Very good fish. Then we found some other places closer to where we lived. Since then we have returned a couple of times and while the quality of the fish has remained outstanding the service is just pitiful! Tonight was about the third time that we have gone here for sushi in the past year and after tonight we have had enough - no more. Waited and waited for our food to get to us even though it wasn't crowded. I suppose the big table behind us took up a lot of the chefs time. But once we got our food our server was pretty much every other place but our table. Didn't refill our drinks even though they were obviously empty glasses and unless his eyesight was poor he didn't see them when he took the salad and soup bowls away. True, we should've spoken up but we were experimenting to see if he'd ever pick up on the refills - failed experiment. While this is the first time we have gotten that poor service here the past couple of times exhibited the same lack luster and slow service. There are other sushi places around that hopefully do not charge an arm and a leg like this place does and we shall be taking our business there.
