We had an open day at work, so we decided to go off campus to enjoy our rare freedom. We ended up at Sushi E as it was close by and one of my coworker enjoys the food here. When we got in, there was only two other small groups here. Great - we sat down and thought we'd have enough time to enjoy everything before heading back to work. The staff was lovely - great service and very friendly. Once we had our order, we realized the wait would be longer than expected. It turned out fine as we changed it into a working lunch and talked about things that we had to discuss anyways. I ended up ordering the 3 piece bento with chicken teriyaki, California rolls and veggie tempura. It was way more than enough food, but as always - my eyes are larger than my stomach. The bento came with miso soup, rice and salad. I enjoyed everything and had enough for another meal. There was a mishap with one of my coworker's order, but staff took care of her afterwards. Again - top tier customer service. I would definitely come back, especially if we have time to go off campus. read more

We called in asking for seating and the lady was extremely friendly! She reserved a table for my girlfriend and I! We had no idea and she put a little reserve sign which was really cute! As soon as we walked in their hospitality was so amazing. It seems to be a husband and wife that run the business and they both are running it which is so sweet. The fish taste really good and I would say it's definitely better than most place, however, two of the rolls we ordered had cream cheese. I overlooked that and I wasn't too fond of that. read more

I visited here once at late night to order a takeout for dinner. The staff were so nice and sushi was delicious. The even threw in extra sashimi! There is also a liquor store next door that at sells sake if you are looking for an accompaniment to sip on. read more

This is a small basic restaurant which is family run it appears. We got a couple of Philly rolls, veggie tempura, and tekka maki roll. Very nice people and I really wanted to like the food. However, the food was just OK and there were several nits. Two rolls were randomly packed together which made it hard to eat in the car, the number of veg tempura pieces was surprisingly low, two of the rolls were falling apart and the fish was a little fishy. They might have just had a bad day. I will go back and give it another try. read more

I had yellow tail sashimi (super fresh and very flavorful), veggie tempura (still hot and crispy when I got it home 15 minutes after picking it up), and a pickled radish roll (also very flavorful). The waitress/hostess and sushi chef were very friendly and efficient and wished me a happy birthday. I had called in my order and it was ready on time. Excellent sushi, the sashimi is very fresh. This is the perfect neighborhood Japanese sushi restaurant. I had the toro roll along with an assortment of nigiri and sashimi, their fish is top end. I hate writing negative reviews but this restaurant has really gone downhill. The waiter was so awful and not even dressed appropriately. Of the four tables in the restaurant, two of the orders were completely wrong. It took 20 minutes to get a bowl of miso soup which was disappointing. The prices for lunch menu are really high for what you get, and none of the dishes were very good. No one asks how everything is or refills water. There are many other sushi places within a 10 minute drive. This one can be avoided. read more

We came around 6pm and there was nobody here in this very small and cozy restaurant. We looked through the menu at the various rolls to decide on what to order. A lot of the rolls sounded good to us. We ordered the Red Dragon Roll ($15.95), 49ers Roll ($16.95), Rainbow Roll ($13.95), and the Fantasy Roll ($13.95). The miso soup tasted good to me. The rolls came out as they were being prepared by the sushi chef. The 49ers Roll was not bad, the Rainbow Roll was good, the Red Dragon Roll was tasty, and the Fantasy Roll was a little bit heavy on the cheese. The roll I liked the best out of all of those was the Red Dragon Roll because it also had a little bit of a spicy kick to it. I thought Sushi E was okay for sushi. read more

I just took a good friend of mine here for lunch. It was a late lunch and we were treated like family! I ordered salmon hand rolls and the 49ers Roll. The fried tofu is a good too to start. I recommend anybody here as you will feel like a family member is making sushi for you. We even got custom sushi on the house! The fish is so fresh and tasty. read more

This place is hands down the BEST SUSHI in the Bay Area. The chef is an artist, and only uses the freshest ingredients. Every bite tastes clean and thoughtfully put together. I've been eating sashimi & sushi since I was growing up overseas (where pregnant moms and kids eating raw fish isn't frowned upon) and I am so glad that I found a quality and delicious sushi place here in the states. Definitely try their rolls and sashimi, and you can even ask the chef to get creative and make you something spontaneously if it's not super busy. Everything from the service, salad, miso soup, to rolls, sashimi and sake are all excellent! The sushi chef is very talented and detail oriented. The owners seemed really nice and I really wanted to like this place and support a mom and pop shop but the food that is served here is not fresh and is questionable. I ordered a roll that had rotten avocados inside. The avocados had black spots around the edges. I also received a salad that had pink edges around the lettuce. This only happens to lettuce when the produce had been prepped days ago. If these basics aren't fresh, imagine the quality of their sushi. This place could be a gem with a homey comfort feel but misses the mark for their standards on freshness. So disappointing and such a bummer. read more
