Was working my way thru the top 10 sushi places near me and this was next on the list. A friend was visiting and wanting sushi so here we went. WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED!!! Our waitress Vanna was exceptional and very helpful answering any questions we had about menu items and everything we ordered was fantastic. I tend to judge places based on their seaweed salad and Sushi Cafe did not drop the ball. We ordered 4 rolls, an appetizer and the fried green tea ice cream for dessert. Haven't had a disappointing experience from here, yet! And there are many disappointments in Texas. This place is consistently delicious. I usually order for takeout, so we don't have a lasting impression of the service within. But the food is incredible. The staff are always friendly to us over the phone and whenever we come in to grab our order. I mostly order their sushi, which I'm such a big fan of. I got the shrimp killer roll, salmon roll, and eel roll. The shrimp killer roll was amazing, full of flavor, and a decent size. I don't normally get specialty rolls but this one is definitely worth it. The salmon roll was very good, with larger pieces. The eel roll didn't stand up to the other two rolls' impressive standards, but it was still decent, just didn't have as much fish as the other two rolls. Service was great, I was asked how I was doing multiple times by multiple people. I was also able to quickly order a second round of food. The atmosphere is very warm, and the booths here provide some decent privacy. read more

THE SINGULAR BEST sushi in all of DFW! My family drives 1 hour to eat at the sushi restaurant! We have tried pretty much everywhere in the Metroplex and there is no one who makes Sushi like this place does. Our two favorite rolls are semi-sweet with coconut shavings on top and mango, and the other one has strawberry and kiwi. Pure Heaven in your mouth! I think this one best sushi restaurant in Arlington that I have found so far. I came with a friend during their happy hour which was buy one roll get the other roll 50% off. In my opinion that's a really good deal when your wanting to try something new. The waiter was really nice but he kind of hovered around us for a while and keep asking if we needed anything else which was fine. We were just in the middle of mid conversation and had to stop our conversation to let him know we were ok. But he was such a sweet guy so we let that issue pass. I ordered the calamari roll and the spicy California roll. The calamari roll was not what I was expecting. I really enjoyed that roll. The spicy California roll was really fresh. I was pleased by the presentation and the freshness of the rolls. The Sushi cafe will definitely will be my go-to spot when I'm craving sushi. Manager is always very involved trying to help take care of tables and togo orders. On a busy weekday, service may be slower, but with some patience, you'll be okay. Just in general, understand that no server WANTS you to have a bad experience. Amazing service and even better food. We were seated immediately after arriving (party of 4), and we were given a nice, clean, and comfortable booth. The waiter was extremely attentive and made sure to continuously check up on us even when they got busy. After we ordered, the food came out roughly 10 minutes after ordering and they brought it out as soon as it was ready, one dish after the next. The fish was extremely fresh and melt in your mouth perfect. The takoyaki was cooked to perfection. The plating was gorgeous and delicate, which gave the dishes a touch of elegance. The pricing comes out to about roughly $15 per person, which, for the quality of food, is absolutely a steal. If you are in Arlington, it is an absolute must to check out. Nice decent cozy little spot in a strip mall. Had both a sushi roll combo and a sashimi combo. If I had to choose I would probably opt for their rolls next time even though my true love is actually sashimi. Most likely because I'm picky with my sashimi like I am with my steak and if it's not perfect i can't recommend it. Their rolls were on par with most other places, nothing that really wowed me but also nothing that was so bad I couldn't finish either. I do like how their California rolls is just a mix of crab salad as I hate the artificial crab strips. Overall the quality was okay for their sashimi but for the price, you couldn't really complain. The price of the sashimi is around $1.3 per piece when ordering a combo. I did not really fancy the tuna sashimi as it was kind of chewy in certain bites. Their salmon and yellow tail were better. Should I not be skeptical of Arlington sushi places? I've worked with plenty of sushi so I was a little scared of strip mall sushi. I didn't choose this place (it chose me) Super cute inside. There was a row of closed off booths, a line of tables and a small sushi bar. I didn't get to check out the back. It's very clean and homey. I immediately felt comfortable. I got a sashimi bowl and sunomono. The fish was very good quality. It was a pleasant surprise. The portion was also bigger than what I'm used to. Being next to UTA, I can see it being very busy, especially with good quality. I would come back. read more

I wouldn't say that Sushi Cafe has the best sushi I've ever tasted as I have had a lot of experiences regarding sushi BUT, it definitely yummy and the happy hour can't be beat! If it is your first time to Sushi Cafe, I highly recommend to go on a weekday before 7 pm as it will be happy hour and sushies are buy one get one half off! That's a steal. Despite being a small hidden restaurant, the sashimis are fresh here. Never once have I felt sick from eating at this place. There's not really anything that stood out to me, which is why I gave it a 3 stars. Everything is good, just not anything thats mind blowing. read more

Fast forward three years later, this is an update long overdue. Why the five stars?? Consistently yummy and deliciously good sushi for a decent price in Arlington. This place is a gem. Wonderful owner and sushi chef - he doesn't speak too much English, but hey, that's never stopped me from conversing with him and having a few good laughs. If you come enough, he occasionally makes side dishes on the house for you if it isn't too busy. Things I would recommend: Udon, if you like noodles and a warm soup. Sushi bento box, if you want sashimi, nigiri, salad, dumplings, some california roll, and of course, miso soup. Great variety with lots to fill you up. Green tea, if you're like me and need some to drink while eating. Ahi tuna tower, a little bit of spiciness, tuna, masago, and rice. Lychee sake, or whichever fruity ones they have - solidly good. This place is probably sub-par if I had to sum it. We went here for a quick bite. I got the teriyaki chicken bento box. Was really disappointed in the meal here. Chicken there was like 4 small pieces and too much oil. The salad had too much dressing that the lettuce was swimming in it. The sushi rolls were okay as well with the spicy salmon. Great sushi chef here!! While I was in the restaurant, all the tables I saw leave thanked the sushi chef before exiting. (If you've never been inside this restaurant, the sushi bar isn't even on the way out the door.) Even though the chef was not the one bringing the food to the tables or interacting with them, everyone seemed to want to give an obvious thanks and farewell to him. Because my friend and I sat at the sushi bar, we got to interact with him some, and he was very kind. He brought out a free sushi bowl for us, which was very delicious!! Thank you, if you ever see this. Our waitress was also kind! She was not too much or too little. She was just perfect in her service. She seemed to be the only waitress at the time since the restaurant itself is not very big. But she seemed to handle the whole place herself very well! The sushi pieces are very big. I had the Alaskan Roll, Louisiana Roll and Salmon Sushi. All were very good, especially the Louisiana Roll. The staff is friendly and attentive. I only put 4 stars instead of 5 because the sushi restaurant I usually go to had better flavor in my opinion even though THIS restaurant has rolls that' are $2 cheaper than my usual go to place.
