The host is amazing. 10/10 customer service. I wouldn't recommend going hungry, cause it can be an hour + wait. The nigiri sushi is about $1 more expensive from 10 months ago. About a 20% increase in price. They have large portions and the service is pretty quick once you're inside. It is nice that this time they refilled our water. I got the hamachi, ahi, salmon, and unagi nigiri. Everything was pretty good, but the hamachi had some issues. Hamachi is my go to order in Hawaii, the mainland, Japan, and around the world. I've got to try expensive and cheap and everything in between. This hamachi was tangy and had the hard white membrane in it. Maybe just this specific cut/ batch just wasn't the best. Everything else was pretty good though. To their credit everyone in there is hustling, but it's when people are going fast that things like quality and service fall through the cracks. Like what happened to me last time, happened to an older gentleman next to me this time. He was waiting super long for an order that he put in a couple rounds earlier. Two servers came by and asked if he needed anything and he said just waiting on my order both times. Here is another Kapolei gem. Wait can get well over 45min. You can always tell when the place is legit when there is more locals than tourists. Easy to find in a busy shopping center with ample parking. Clean and inviting. Wait staff are friendly and competent, even with the high dining room turnover. They could have been friendlier, but I am not gonna ding them on it due to the volume that they were dealing with. They checked on us regularly and the table was never empty of food or dink until we were done. Quality of the fish is what I expected on the island-FRESH, vibrant color and so ono. The wait was worth it. When we got there at around 2, there was already a long line of people. We waited probably 25 minutes until we got seated. Everything we ordered tasted so good. They are mostly busy with take out orders but the wait to get a seat inside took about 45min. They have multiple booth tables and some counter space, which is where we were seated. Once we were seated, the waitress was prompt with taking our orders. Our food came out relatively quick! I was impressed with the size of this bowl for the price. I'll definitely be returning and getting the bowl again. Very tasty and definitely worth your money! The parking lot is giant so there's always parking available. Sushi Bay is right next to an ice cream shop so you can pop over there for dessert afterwards as well. Overall a good lunch experience! Now this is a sushi spot! the nigiris were so delicious and big portions was worth the wait. All the nigiris and sushi were delicious and made fresh. What I especially appreciated was that the server noticed that my first serving of shrimp tempura was a bit sad looking and without me having said anything, she brought me a replacement dish. That proactivness was really great and showed us how much the staff and chefs care about you having a good experience there. I think maybe dining in is better than take out, they have to prioritize which I can understand but it make customers taking out an increased wait time. And also no communication about it from staff. It's kind of a gem that they're a conveyor belt sushi place (the belt doesn't run, actually) and they're still reasonably priced. No wonder it is always packed! We arrived at 10:45 AM for the 11 AM opening, put our name on the waitlist, and received a text when our table was ready. Despite the morning rush, we were seated by 11:35, and the service remained impressively swift. Our order included a selection of nigiri and the spicy ahi bowl. So many people doing takeout orders, likely around 35-40 in the hour that we waited. 2 loading zone only stalls right out front (10 minute limit) makes it convenient for grab & go. After paying, I asked for a side of eel sauce and was informed there was a 50-cent charge. Had I known beforehand, I would have simply added it to my order. The issue wasn't the cost--it was how the situation was handled. I explained that I had already paid and didn't have any cash or change on me. I then spoke with two different employees, and both seemed unwilling to help over what amounted to a 50-cent sauce. Eventually, I spoke with the manager, who repeatedly told me, "Next time, next time, make sure," and implied I wouldn't get the sauce otherwise. What disappointed me was the lack of flexibility and customer service. After spending nearly $60 on takeout and leaving a tip, I felt that the staff and management were more focused on collecting 50 cents than taking care of a customer. As someone who has worked in the restaurant industry, I understand policies exist, but I also understand that sometimes good customer service means using common sense and showing a little goodwill. We are vacationing nearby and was craving sushi. We had just got done with a hike and needed fuel so decided to come here. At first we had a small wait which was a good sign since the space is small. There's very few true tables and has a bar seating with a conveyor belt. The size of the sushi and size of the fish was immaculate. My wife and I were shocked at the salmon, I usually am not a salmon sushi guy but I kept ordering it. I'm guessing the nigiri was 4-5 inches a piece.... Amazing. Honestly everything was great.
