Both were delicious and had the perfect amount of rice, not too much. The dragon maki roll had way too much rice - so if you're looking for a lighter rice option, get the sushi. Hours on the door say they close at 9pm but they close at 8:30 so the hours on Yelp are correct. I didn't realize this until I looked on Yelp and felt bad placing an order a few minutes (maybe 20 mins?) before closing. Thank you for taking our order even though you were going to close at 8:30. When in Hawaii sushi is a must. This was a small place in a strip mall. We were the only ones there. All the sushi we tried was great and it was very reasonable. We were craving sushi and didn't want a long wait it. We figured that since this location is in a little shopping center, there wouldn't be a long wait for sushi. Our guess was correct. No lines and staff ready to make your order. I went with their combination bento ($15.99). You can choose 2 options out of the 9 listed on the menu. Some choices are chicken, spicy ahi, teriyaki chicken, kal-bi and a few others. I went with the spicy ahi and kal-bi. My other half went with the crunchy maki roll ($10.99). We also ordered garlic ebi ($6.49) and garlic ahi ($7.99) nigiri. You get 3 pieces per order. Lasty, we ordered a side of ika rings ($6.99). Food came out quick. Once our order was in, the workers in the back got started with our order. The bento and ika came out first and followed by the nigiri shortly after. The spicy ahi was very good. Nice chunks of ahi and sauce was tasty. The kal-bi was okay. It felt a bit dry and more of a bulgogi type of meat. Both of the nigiri was great and loved that there's extra onions on each nigiri. Ika rings is exactly what you get. Good number of pieces for the price. Hot served but definitely not house made. Overall good food and service. You can either take out or dine in. You'll get water cups if you opt to dine in. They have a variety of juice and sodas and a fountain machine. My daughter wanted to try this place. I wasn't in the mood for sushi. I decided to order the California roll maki. My daughter got the beef udon. She said it was good but didn't have a lot of udon noodles inside her soup. I guess you get what you pay for. My California rolls were good. Unlimited fountain drinks. I had a diet Coke to wash down my food. Not bad but not the best. Price for the food was affordable but taste wise was just okay to me. Was craving sushi for dinner so decided to do a doordash order pickup Ninja Sushi. I ordered a dynamite maki, sunset maki, tuna salad nigiri and garlic ebi nigiri. Nigiri comes with 3 pieces unlike the usual 2 pieces at sushi shops. Dynamite maki is my favorite, so saucy with lots of ahi on top. Sunset maki was a new one for me. Wanted to taste something that had salmon in it. It's good as well, sort of taste like how the garlic ebi nigiri taste like just in a roll. The rainbow rolls I've had on 3 separate occasions have been excellent and close to the much more expensive sushi spots on the mainland Oahu. My 14 year old son has also loved everything he has ordered on 2 visits. Appears to be a family owned business and their service has been great as well. Located in the same development as anFoodland. Skip Foodland's sushi and go here as you get larger portions, much better sushi, and most importantly you are supporting small business. You won't be disappointed. We went there for lunch and I got a mix of different results. First off, I'll point out that the prices were more affordable than other sushi locations. Compared to another sushi restaurant just a few blocks away each plate low lower by at most 1/3 of the price. I tried the Dragon Roll. It was an eight piece and it was pretty good. It had great flavors and the rice was good. I also tried the Ikura, which was mostly good except the rice was stale. Then we tried the Spicy Ahi. This fish was good, but again the rice was stale. Tried the California roll, again stale rice. Lastly, the person that was with me doesn't eat a lot of sushi and they ordered Natto, which has fermented soybeans. It was slimy and spelled pungent as it is intended to be, but it ruined the whole sushi experience. I'd suggest that the owner ensure the rice is fresh and please put a warning label on the menu for Natto that it requires an acquired taste. Most restaurants do that these days for spicy food and the Natto was so pungent that we thought it was old. The Dragon Roll was pretty good though, so that's why this still gets 3 stars. read more

Compared to other Ninja Sushi locations, this one ranks top on my list. Located next to Foodland Kapolei, it can be hard to find parking since there are multiple businesses in the area. The restaurant itself is very clean & well lit. Each table in the dining area has shoyu incase you decide to eat in. The service has always been outstanding, every person we've encountered has been friendly and helpful (especially when describing what is in each roll). There is good variety in the menu, a little something for everyone, even for my vegetarian mom (veggie tempura roll is her absolute favorite). My favorite items are the : Tornado roll, Udon, and my husband loves the salmon & hamachi. You would think that coming from a place that isn't necessarily "packed," that you'd get old fishy tasting sushi, but this place is nothing of the sort. The fish is good & rice is not old or crumbly. For my cousin who does not like greens, they remembered not to include green onions or cucumber (which is an easy thing to forget when you're preparing a large order). After working out in Kapolei for one and a half years, I finally tried this place. I looked through the menu and there was too many choices to pick from but I finally decided to try their combination bento. The combination bento comes with two choices (kalbi, chicken, tempura, teriyaki chicken, unagi, soba, udon, spicy ahi, poke, and spicy poke). I decided to get the teriyaki chicken and poke. I made an phone order and she said it would take 15 minutes. I arrived there a little after 15 minutes passed and my food wasn't ready. There was a couple of other people waiting for their food also. The lady tried to rush to get my order ready but I had to wait for about 5 minutes. The teriyaki chicken was really good. I definitely will order this again. The poke on the other hand wasn't that great. There was also a lot of rice and I wished there was some sort of salad. This past weekend i was on the west side and was craving shrimp tempura. Ninja Sushi popped up on yelp with pretty good reviews. I called to place my order with ease. I decided to go with shrimp tempura maki and soft shell maki. Both were delicious. I probably shouldn't have gotten both because i was full after eating just 3 rolls. But the price was decent and didnt mind getting both. Though the food was good, i gave 2 stars because i believe my credit card was skimmed here. This was my last purchase and only usual shopping trip before my card was flooded with random (38 differ) purchases. Luckily my bank caught some of them. If i ever go back i would use cash instead. We're trying to support our local businesses in the area, which also gives me the opportunity to try out places I've been meaning to go to. It's a win-win for everyone! Today we decided on Ninja Sushi for lunch. We ordered 3 rolls for pickup. Crunchy maki, T-Dragon maki, and the tiger Maki. Crunchy maki is always my back up roll just Incase I don't favor the other ones I ordered lol. It's hard to mess up a crunchy roll right? It's almost universal in every state I've traveled through. The shrimp tempura alone is one of the best I've had! I'm usually pretty weary on ordering sushi for takeout, because I want to enjoy It freshly made. I don't want soggy old shrimp ya know. I knew our shrimp was being made by order since we still had to wait for our food to be ready by the time we got to the restaurant. Which I didn't mind! Even after the 10 min drive home, the shrimp was still warm and crunchy. My only con about this roll was that, I prefer the Panko crunchies instead of these rice krispy looking ones that they use here at ninja sushi lol. Also I felt like this roll had too much rice. They pieces were uneven the way they were cut, and with the extra rice I could barely eat It in one bite. My husband had the T-Dragon roll, that one was topped with eel and avocado. I'm not much of an eel person, so I let him finish that one by himself. I can't speak on the flavor but he said It was good, the only thing he thought was the pieces of eel and avocado were pretty small so he couldn't taste It on some bites. The avocado also wasn't the ripest, so It didn't give you that creamy avocado flavor. I had the Tiger roll and It was definitely my favorite. This one also had shrimp tempura inside, and spicy ahi on top. As I said earlier, the shrimp tempura was the best part. These are really plump and nice pieces of crispy fried shrimp. Nothing was too over powering and you could taste each element of the roll. The spicy ahi wasn't very spicy though, It just tasted like regular ahi. Perks of being able to eat at home is adjusting and doing what I want with the food lol. I ended up adding my own crunchies using panko that i have at home and that definitely kicked It up a notch texturally. I'm all about the crispy crunchy textures. Our order also came with a ton of small containers filled with pickled ginger & wasabi. Of course plenty of soy sauce too. I really look forward to dining in some day and trying some of the other dishes they have. Their rolls are a little on the bigger side with slightly more rice than I prefer, but It definitely fills you up and keeps you satisfied. Don't pass this one by! I've seen Ninja Sushi in the parking lot across from Foodland for a while. It is small and unassuming. Easy to overlook if you are quickly scanning the stores and restaurants available. Thankfully, I got a call asking if I wanted to grab lunch. Sure! I was happy to be in the right place at the right time. Ninja Sushi has a small interior with your standard grab and go counter top. This fast food look is deceiving as everything is made to order. Even though they had a steady flow of customers, our order came out quick enough. Good portion sizes and okay plating, but I didn't have high hopes. I was really surprised by the freshness of the fish; the tenderness in each piece; the flavor in every bite! What a good find. This goes on the list of places to go back to again and again. Atmosphere: Although there is no dine-in service today, the restaurant is clean and they are very conscious about practicing COVID safety protocols. Customer Service: Pretty standard. Place your order at the window and pay the Cashier. They have lots of room to space people feet apart while waiting for your order. When your order is ready they'll call you up to the counter and show all the items ordered. (Helps to see that they got your order correct ) Food: As expected, our food was made to order so there's a little bit of a wait...but...it's REALLY worth that time! Ordered through door dash, & god it was awful . Ordered the samurai set & the 3 pc ikura. My husband said it didn't seem like they even tried they just cut slabs or prices of fish & slapped it on top rice. The fish was not fresh, it was rubbery, then again expectations aren't that high for this place. -tako was THICK & so chewy I had to spit it out -ahi was like brown & rubbery -salmon was green, brown & rubbery -overall gross The ikura was even worse , it was so tiny the sushi itself, like the ones that are usually ordered at restaurants are tall & filled this one was pathetic almost , it was like half the size of the usual ones you order at the restaurant. Worse part is that they placed a sticker that said "thank you for supporting small businesses" yeah you're welcome that was the worst $77 I ever spent on food . I'd rather go to McDonald's.
